yoshue wrote: Snrub wrote: yoshue wrote: And Dan Brown versus Dickens? NO CONTEST. Think of all the advatages in typing and printing technologies. Dickens, that bitch, probably wrote by hand and misplaced entire passages 'cause he didn't have a hard drive.
Don't even get me started on the ways Brown utilizes modern slang and stuff...things I know! Dickens, with his old English language rhythms...what a pussy.
Anyway, Snrub, I know you're just pushing buttons. But I also think people's brains do work in such a fashion. Don't encourage them. Comparing books and film is a bad analogy. Yes modern technology has made the process of writing easier, but the format remains the same. Film is a different entity entirely. It's in early days, still evolving as a language, so the caveman drawing analogy is completely apt. As to pushing buttons... it's so bloody easy! It feels like i'm being drawn in by the dark side with every post. I don't even agree with 90% of what i've said in the last 5 pages. Try to fight those urges or, next thing you know, you're the message board equivalent of Buffalo Bill from that Jodie Foster movie. One second you're lambasting all movies made before a arbitrary cut-off point. The next, you're wearing coats made of the skin of some of our female posters. OMG...you're maverikk. Hah! Don't think that hasn't crossed my mind once or twice tonight. Mainly when I was trying to rile up Zingaling earlier.

Yeah, and I would have ratted him out earlier but I'd be contributing more to this damn thread. Which, I guess I am now, anyway. Damn it.

Re: Children of Men
Best movie of '06, even if I thought U93 and LFIJ were almost as good.
And yeah, the 1984 movie sucked, and there's no comparing a book to a movie, so i don't see where your argument's coming from.

Re: Children of Men
Snrub, how did you interpret the ending? Did he die or did he just pass out from blood loss and would be saved by the freighter?

We'll find out in the sequel film, tentatively titled Tomorrow. It wasn't supposed to be all that ambiguous; Cuaron had always intended Children of Men to be a trilogy.

I can't help but wonder what would've happened in the second and third films. I imagine it would've involved Theo saving Kee's baby from the Human Project, which turns out to be an evil corporation intent on destroying the world.

I often wondered what about the guy who fathered the child, why was he so rarely mentioned. Does no one care about his magic sperm that worked?

I love the novel as well, but to qualify it against a film is foolish and wrong. And if you're referring to the calendar year, then you're still a moron, because 1984 introduced The Cosby Show. Hey, leave The Cosby Show alone

Believe it or not, that was actually not a knock on the Cosby Show!

Re: Children of Men
Somewhere hidden in all of this is a really good discussion about hope in the film.

Yeah, why the fuck would I jump to conclusions and think we were talking about the movie? How perfectly idiotic of me.

Hmmm... It would appear the Dark Knight has gained another 5 pages while I slept, and the CoM thread has remained at 27. We may be fighting a losing battle here, Box.
