May be lost with other kid movies, though, it has all of December to reign before Fat Albert opens, which shouldn't be too much of a competition.

I'm going to change my prediction a little bit. Not drastically, but make it a little less. I'm not sure how *big* Lemony Snicket's actually will be. Does anyone know how big the book series was? I'm not really aware.
Opening: $36.5 million
Total: $146.0 million

The weekday numbers will be huge for the first two weeks, and it will increase in the third weekend. It's a lock for a mutliplier of 4.5 and it should be along the lines of 6.
Opening: 35m
Total: 207m
Multiplier: 5.91
Second weekend drop: 36%
Third weekend increase: +24%

Almost all late December releases have multiplier of great than 4, even the one with bad WOM. That's why an opening of 20M pretty much gaurantees 100M total, and an opening of 45M will get the film to 200M.

It's a tough one to predict for me, personally. I don't know. I don't really see the huge appeal on this one, but I don't see it with a low opening either. Plus, it'll have great legs with the holidays, like DP07 said.

This is destined to be a major hit. It occupies the slot of the successfull Lord of the Ring's films and is based on an immensly popular book series.
Opening: $47 million -- if and when there are sequels (yes, sequels as there are over 10 books so far), the next films should open higher
Total: $275 million (could go as high as $300 million+)

Wow! Only three people broke 50? I give it somewhere around 51 or 52 million, with aviator getting upper 30's. Maybe 38 or 39 even. But that's just me, and I have no clue what I'm talking about, so if you please excuse me, I am now sneaking back out or this forum.
