Archie Gates wrote: 8+5 at most. http://www.aintitcool.com/node/35574 “Lost†showrunner Carlton Cuse says the fourth season of his acclaimed sci-fi drama will be no more than 13 episodes this season, cut down from an order of 16 due to the writers’ strike expected to end today.
Eight episodes were scripted before the strike. Cuse hopes to produce five more to air this spring.
It sounds like Cuse and the rest of the “Lost†writing staff will end the fourth season at the same story point they always intended, cramming eight episodes of plot into the season’s final five installments.
“We will have to condense some stories,†Cuse tells The Hollywood Reporter.
The third episode of the fourth season airs this Thursday. Sources say all 13 fourth-season episodes could conceivably run between now and the end of the season without a break. There's a link to a longer article there. Hopefully this means less useless flashbacks/forwards and no more 'light' subplots.

I wanted 22 episodes this season. 16 was skimpy enough and pushing it. 13 is ridiculous. The only upside is the DVD set better be cheap.

Re: The 'Lost' Thread (Season 4)
I'm actually really unhappy with that news. The fact that they're enjoying a creative streak now and the fact that they had the season planned till the end and now have to readjust, risking tampering the creative flow kinda upsets me.
I don't understand why they can't run it till the end if they can do 5. If the show runs uninterrupted as they reiterated then it would fall short of the end of the season. If this decision was reached just to have Grey's Anatomy squeeze 3-5 episodes, I'll be really pissed. And that probably WAS the reason.
What sucks is that they're condensing the remaining 8 episodes to five. It's not like they're gonna make up those 3 lost episode next season. We totally lose 3 episodes.

I recall HBO releasing The Sopranos and Sex and the City's half-seasons (or Season #, Part 1) and charging the same amount of money, even though there were fewer episodes, especially in Sex's case.

Grey's Anatomy's first season which was only 9 episodes was like $20. I'm guessing it will be around $35-40. Maybe even $27-30 in the first week of release at stores like Best buy, Target, etc..

Re: The 'Lost' Thread (Season 4)
Ausiello: The writers' strike may end up being the best thing that ever happened to Lost. ABC is said to be finalizing a post-strike spring schedule that not only hands Lost its best available time slot, but promises to further strengthen the network's stronghold on Thursday night. According to multiple sources, ABC plans on airing this season's final five* Lost episodes on Thursdays at 10 pm/ET beginning in late April, where it will follow all-new episodes of Grey's freakin' Anatomy! Throw in fresh installments of Ugly Betty at 8 pm and you've got yourself the most formidable one-two-three punch since the early days of CBS' Survivor/CSI/Without a Trace smashup. Creatively speaking, I'd go so far as to say this rivals NBC's storied Must-See-TV juggernaut back in the '90s. And I haven't even gotten to the best part. The best part is that I'm hearing that ABC is strongly considering keeping this dream lineup intact this fall... and beyond. I don't know about you, but this almost makes up for ABC's mishandling of [insert any number of show titles here]. * This just in: I'm now hearing that Lost's final arc may consist of six episodes, not five. No, Team Darlton isn't making an extra episode this season. Rather, the final installment of the current run (aka Episode 8) will likely be held to kick off the final batch of five. According to my spies, Episode 7 makes for a better, more logical, break.

Re: The 'Lost' Thread (Season 4)
An Ugly Betty-Grey's-Lost combo on Thursdays would be absolutely wonderful.
I mean, it would mean I'd have to record Survivor and watch it over the weekend, but whatever.

Re: The 'Lost' Thread (Season 4)
Ugh. I don't know. I'm very skeptical about this.
Didn't they learn it doesn't fare well in the 10pm hour? ALOT of people watch Lost and moving to 10pm regardless of the lead-in it will lose some viewers, especially college students (probably including me).
I still hold that abc is fucking retarded when it comes to scheduling. They have a horrible track record in my book. The only smart move they made in recent years (and I will admit it was an incredibly smart move) was to move Grey's Anatomy to thursdays at 9pm...
As for the proposed line-up... Betty barely breaks 10m anymore. Grey's is not the powerhouse it was anymore and with a 10pm slot, Lost won't be pulling in more than 14-15 million.

good episode though i never liked the fact that they have just kind of abandoned nadia. I mean Sayid risked everything for this women, then he starts banging shannon and we dont hear about nadia again

I'm sure there's plenty of backstory going on there, at least enough to give me the benefit of the doubt.

I still never saw the point of him and shannon. I mean I get that they needed someone to feel bad that shannon died after they killed boone but the whole thing seemed forced. This is a guy who waited 7 years to find the women he loves. 30 days crashed on an island and all of a sudden he likes a superficial blond. Then in this episode he is a stone cold killer who obviously had feelings for the women. It just bothers me because it feels like the just botched the whole thing

Re: The 'Lost' Thread (Season 4)
I guess Ben isn't in that Coffin. It looks like to me that Ben is somewhat blackmailing Sayid. It doesn't look like that he likes working for him, but is only doing it to keep his friends alive. I wonder what evil Ben is really up to.

Re: The 'Lost' Thread (Season 4)
Similar with me to what Loyal said. The scenes on the island were good but the whole flashforward with Sayid didn't impress me. On the positive side, as much as I've griped about Jack in the past, this season his character is one of the best written.

Mystery solved! Can't be Locke because he isn't one of the Oceanic Six. Right now I think it is probably one of the rescuers. It could either be the pilot or the I see Dead people guy.
