Fantastic for Racing Stripes and In Good Company.
Actually, pretty fantastic for everything except Elektra.

excellent for everything, especially Racing Stripes. Even Elektra went up around 10% although $12m 3-day seems in store, and maybe a $14.5m/$15m 4-day which is very dissapointing.
Coach Carter continues to confuse/amaze me. Whilst everything that In Good Company does just dosent surprise me, i knew this one would break out.

What exactly were you expecting? Racing Stripes is up at least 75%, and everything else increased nicely.

Adult movies did not increase to the same extent as kids/family movies. Great for Racing (KJ/SD) Stripes
Pittsburgh/Jets game was a good one. I wonder if that had an effect on Saturday grosses :???:

Great for Coach Carter. *sigh* Looks like Elektra will barely make 12-13 million.

Maybe BJ was expecting a miracle for Elektra.
While I too am disappointed with Elektra, I hope this means Jennifer Garner won't do another action movie for a while, and we see more serious Garner or some silly Garner (she made 13 Going on 30 good).

I don't think Jennifer Garner should necessarily stop doing action movies, considering Alias is so terrific. What she shouldn't do is star in money-driven, mediocre action movies where she's too good for the material.

I was reffering to the many other films that increased less than 50%, but I am suprised that it didnt increase more especaily after being smashed by a film in half the theaters yesterday.

That's basically what I mean. I also meant we get to see her every week on "Alias", my second favorite TV show, and for now, I'd like to see a few different roles for Jennifer Garner. She still is fantastic in action roles, obviously. Little variety is still good, though.

In 2000, the kids movies increased lot more, 115% for Toy Story 2 and 149% for Stuart Little on Saturday and the average for the others was b/w 60-70%.

Last Year:
Teacher's Pet - 137.4% / 4-day Multiplier (from Friday) = 7.55x
Cheaper by the Dozen - 84.6% /4-day Multiplier = 5.40x
Lord of the Rings - 94.2% / 4-day Multiplier = 5.24x
My Baby's Daddy - 72.7% / 4-day Multiplier = 4.63x
The Last Samurai - 71% / 4-day Multiplier = 4.54x
Cold Mountain - 77.7% / 4-day Multiplier = 4.41x
Calender Girls - 55.6% / 4-day Multiplier = 4.39x
Big Fish - 58.9% / 4-day Multiplier = 4.38x
Something's Gotta Give - 73.5% / 4-day Multiplier = 4.27x
Along Came Polly - 27.9% / 4-day Multiplier = 3.66x
Torque - 17.4% / 4-day Multiplier = 3.40x
I don't think there's any REAL correlation, except that the family films have the better multipliers and the films that don't have MUCH appeal towards younger audiences have the lower multipliers (Calender Girls and Something's Gotta Give). I think Elektra's bound to have a multiplier worse than Torque, though.
These increases are definitely worse, though, since only two movies had increases below 50 last year, and those were both openers...

I expected Coach Carter to do well, but this is an amazing result so far. It should also do well the upcoming weeks, 100 Million is a real possibility here...

I don't think so. Its 4-day weekend will be smaller than Along Came Polly, and that didn't even cross $100m even with drops below 50% for five weeks. Plus, consider Save the Last Dance. Coach Carter is tracking sooo closely to STLD, and considering the MTV-backing on both films, it seems likely that the crowd jumped out because of a marketing push on the network and there ISN'T much left. It'll get past $95m, and it might get the PUSH it needs, but I doubt a $100m gross.

I haven't seen a lot of advertising for Racing Stripes. Mind you, my TV watching is very limited, compared to a few years ago, but I don't recall seeing any ads for it on the little TV I did watch.
