 Britney & Kevin: Chaotic
Anyone watch it yet?
I just turned on the tube, and this show happened to be on. So, I started watching it.
Quite possibly the worst show I've seen in a loooooong time.
I never liked Newlyweds all that much, but I actually miss it now.

Well, it is dreadfull, but there's no point to stating the obvious.
The one thing I do like about Chaotic is that it's honest (which is a catch-22). Unlike Jessica Simpson, I truly believe that Britney Spears is not putting on a fake persona for the camera. This is who she really is! :???:

You're not alone, Zingy. Chaotic's ratings on UPN were so paltry that two episodes were combined in to one and the (series) finale aired sooner than planned.

Its ratings weren't actually bad at all. The media blew the shows unability to take off out of proportion because they expected that Spears would bring big viewership with her to UPN. Infact the ratings were very much in line with the network average. I recall its lowest point was 2.2 Million viewers?
Anyway the finale aired here tonight; ive been watching it on and off and i have to say - its easily the best thing American reality TV has plopped out in a longggg time. Im so used to reality tv and gameshows employing all the overly dramatic, overly obvious and insultingly edited charactures of the shows contestants and stars - but Britney and Kevin's show was so different. Aside from my like for Spears I felt it was almost surreally honest. Its very rare we get a chance to take a genuine look at the lives of the famous; and even more bizarrely its of Britney Spears - whos been notoriously fake in interviews and PR conferences for years now. Celebrities always claim to be "just real people" but apparently it takes a shaky video camera to prove that to the world.
It seems since she dropped the manager shes really not been too concerned about the world's opinon of her - shes laying it out like it is and My favourite part of the show was the "after interview" where Spears would talk candidly to the viewers about how her life was progressing. As a fan I can say that shes never been so honest and apparently, content. I like her as a popstar and as a person - she seems down to earth, fun, girly and at the same time [and its visable from the start to end of the show] seems to be growing up fast with the responsibilites of pregnancy and marriage. Its almost like shes gained some sort of grounding in reality from the surreal world of stardom.
I remember reading that a poll in a gossip magazine proved that the show had extremely positive impact on the protrayal of Britney to readers. I think it was a relatively effective [and subtle] step in the war against the paparazzi and Spears was brave for putting her life out there and risking her stardom whilst she was at it. It certainly won her more affection from women.
Obviously the shows production values are awful. Various episodes serve no purpose apart from Spears having fun with a video camera and asking really hollow questions to gain shocked reacitons - but as the shows went on ive enjoyed it more and more. Pleasantly surprising: Her ability to sing. I dont know obviously my bias towards Britney helped me like this show a lot more. But hell her Wedding footage just showed how "trashy" it was. Wow, i wonder how many trailer park weddings have thousands of flowers and a luxury home decked out with candles, white drapes and very expensive decor. I found it interesting to see the mirror side of what was actually going on in Spears' life and what the press were printing about her - and bizarrely she seemed to be more frustrated with the press following her around than them being vile towards her.
But i guess the biggest surprise i as a viewer left the show with was that Britney and Kevin are a remarkably normal couple who seemed to be genuinely in love. And Spears has changed so much from the manipulated teenager that we knew her as first.
