So happy for Constance Zimmer, Mr. Robot and Black-ish
UnREAL also got a Writing nom! Lifetime has an original series nominated for Emmys, I never thought I'd see the day.

Harrington and Maisie Williams was very unexpected. Surprise snub is Christian Slater and I don't see anything at all for Outlander

Good for Maisie. However, Kit is good, but I don't see which episode he could have submitted that would have gotten him the nom.

Ugh, nothing for "The Leftovers" again but of course. God forbid HBO actually campaign for it.

 Re: Emmy Nominations Anticipation
Feels like the Emmys are growing up! So much love spread around. Disappointed in no Michael McKean or Rhea Seehorn for Better Call Saul. McKean was a bright spot this year on a stellar season, while Seehorn gave a quiet, convincing performance without being flashy. But the show seems to be fairly under-represented outside of Drama, Actor and Supporting Actor, so I guess it won't make much of a dent come Emmy night. Also, (Game of Thrones spoiler) Kit Harington?! He must have played a good part this year since Jon Snow is dead! #HaventWatchedSeasonSix

Yay for Tatiana Maslany! I mean, I know she won't win but it's nice to see her talent being recognized.

Those that have already watched it already know about it and those that haven't even seen the show won't be planning to watch it all.

Also, forgot how nice it was to see Ellie Kemper recognized. It was a major oversight to snub her last year. The entire show works because of her.

She also had a really strong season with season 2, with her whole arc involving her mom and acceptance of her many issues.

 Re: 2016 Emmy Nominations
They are fine. Television is so vast these days, there are a hundred variations on, "Oh, but I wish they had--" (recognized The Leftovers, recognized Mozart in the Jungle, recognized Outlander, recognized The Fall or Peaky Blinders, nominated Eva Green, and so on), but there are many solid choices. I am pleased, for instance, by The Knick's directorial nomination and the acting citations for Bloodline.

 Re: 2016 Emmy Nominations
I think Lena Headley will win for sure (although I would rather see Maisie win) and Game of Thrones will probably repeat. What else could upset it? House of Cards maybe? I figure Kevin Spacey will probably finally win an emmy.

 Re: 2016 Emmy Nominations
The most important thing hasn't been mentioned here yet. The Emmys FINALLY recognized thet best-reviewed drama series on television: "The Americans".
What will win Best Drama? I really don't see them going for "Homeland", "Better Call Saul" or "House of Cards" (the fact alone that they have been nominated is big enough). "Downton Abbey" may be helped by being the final season, but otherwise I do not see it having a chance.
That leaves us with "Mr. Robot", "The Americans" and GoT. I think GoT might repeat, but if it doesn't "Mr. Robot" actually stands a solid chance. I think Malek will win Actor.

 Re: 2016 Emmy Nominations
"Mr. Robot" could very easily win Best Drama Series. I don't think "GoT" has it as locked up as everyone seems to think. It's definitely a very, very close second.
Basically the exact same thing happened with "The Americans" that happened with "Friday Night Lights" in its fourth season, where it was ignored forever and then finally ended up getting some major recognition late in its run (and after the creative team announced an end date).

Unlikely with the Americans considering it has missed the drama nominations for 3 years I think. I think GOT may repeat but Mr Robot is pretty much its closest competitor. GOT is probably a lock to win best directing for Battle of Bastards anyway.

 Re: 2016 Emmy Nominations
They blew their load a bit on Season 5, which to me was a bit underwhelming for GoT. However, I say Season 6 is an almost-lock. Only four times in the last twenty years has it went to a first-season show. Not sure Mr. Robot will pull that off.
