No, the theory says the Man in Black is in the future. An elderly version of either the Ben Barnes character or the Jimmi Simpson character.

Makes even less sense then. The guy aged like 30 years and Ford is still the same age? And that would mean the Hosts have a history of becoming conscious and no one in the park would notice for that many years?

Re: HBO's "Westworld"-series has a terrific cast
Also in the last episode when he tells the story he says the maze showed to him when he was killing Maeve and her kid in her previous story. He was just as old as he is now. I don't think that option is the case. Way too many timeline issues.

Re: HBO's "Westworld"-series has a terrific cast
I agree. But Maeve had a part about reliving memories as if they were happening now. Then Anthony Hopkins talks about how the humans are stuck in loops just like the hosts. I dunno if Ed Harris and McPoyle are the same man, or if Teddy is based on McPoyle, but it now seems likely that ERW is reliving a former adventure rather than breaking out of the park.

I'm obsessed with Thandie Newton on this show. Maeve is one of the best and most memorable television characters to come along in years.

It's kinda crazy how she was barely in the pilot, but has since been elevated all the way to the top. I wonder if that was the plan? Or maybe they just fell in love with her while writing.

Re: HBO's "Westworld"-series has a terrific cast
Maeve is so far and away the standout character on this show that it's almost unfair, lol. Everyone else is doing a great job (especially Evan Rachel Wood and Ed Harris), but Thandie Newton is just owning everyone and everything.

And since all the other "crazy" theories have turned out to be right I assume Though it would make me kinda happy to see young Billy come in and take out old William and just bust them all up.

Here is a solid article presenting the multiple-timelines theory in chronological order: http://www.vulture.com/2016/11/westworl ... guide.html

Re: HBO's "Westworld"-series has a terrific cast
I'm not a big fan that the theories turned out to be true. The show relied to much on too misleading editing. And a host kills his maker (and presumably all those people she saw) but it's still in use????? I really hope the finale sums everything up nicely. Basically the whole show depends on the finale now. Either it's a bulls eye hit, or a complete miss.

Wow, that episode 9 was a lot to consume. Hope the finale indeed ties it all up nicely.

So much shit happened in the finale. The William twist is extremely surprising

I saw the William twist coming but it was executed perfectly. Incredible finale. So intense. I can't believe we have to wait until 2018.
Thandie Newton deserves ALL the Emmys.

So that finale was incredible and obviously positioned this as HBO's next big thing for years to come, IMO.
I predicted the William twist weeks ago...a lot of the fan theories were right, but they were all so artfully executed that it didn't matter.

The second season doesn't start until 2018? I guess I don't need to be in a rush to watch this.

Yeah, because of the production cycle and scope of this series HBO said not to expect new episodes until at least January 2018. It took forever for the first season to air too, the first promo for it aired over two years ago. My guess is it will return around this time next year.

Re: HBO's "Westworld"-series has a terrific cast
That was a killer finale. Even with all the fan speculation I didn't see that William twist coming and like I said before it's hard to surprise me sometimes. Sad that we have to until 2018 for Season 2.

The finale was excellent, great season. I did found there a bit too many layers too everything, but it's very enjoyable and I look forward to next season. Sublime cast.

Re: HBO's "Westworld"-series has a terrific cast
I watched the first season in the past four or five days and I loved it. I agree that the multiple timelines is a tad confusing but it's a lot of fun and the twists and turns are great. The last episode was fantastic. Everyone in the cast is fantastic but Thandie Newton... Holy crap was she amazing. Can't wait for the next seasons. Such a long wait.

Re: HBO's "Westworld"-series has a terrific cast
I think Thandie has more screen time though. And it's arguable if Dolores is the character the entire seasons revolves around. Her quest has been pretty much sidetracked in the middle of the season. I think there was an episode where she was barely in. I do understand they don't want to split the votes, but Thandie carried the show. That's not what a supporting character does.

Re: HBO's "Westworld"-series has a terrific cast
I finished the first season just now and... I don't know, this show never grabbed me, which is why after the first two episodes I quit until catching up now. It certainly got more interesting as it went on but I feel like it was a lot to take in with no real payoff in terms of character and progression. Overall it was a solid start but not one I'd go out of my way to praising.
I didn't see the William twist coming lol

Re: HBO's "Westworld"-series has a terrific cast
Finished the first season and I'm a fan, probably the best thing HBO has done in 2010s for me. I really liked the unraveling maze in Jonathan Nolan's script and how everything came together. I suspect this works better as a binge watch than it did week to week. Some of the "showrunner" characters (Elsie, the writer, Luke Hemsworth, etc.) are the weakness but everything with the hosts is terrific and production value, music and acting is top level.
I wasn't sure how Season 2 would be possible after the big twists were revealed, but I'm cool with Jurassic Park with robots instead of dinosaurs if that's where it's going
