Re: GOTHAM CITY TV Series Thread
I wasn't gonna watch it, but I'll at least check out the beginning. One of my good friends plays the actor that kills Bruce's parents.
I think it'll outopen Touch, Alcatraz, and The Following. Maybe 12-14 million.

I'm down for the pilot, but ratings will definitely be interesting come tomorrow morning. I also see 10M+ and it could go as high as the premiere of AOS.

Re: GOTHAM CITY TV Series Thread
I watched around half an hour of it. Not a fan. A trite cop drama (louche veteran, straight-arrow new recruit) coupled with too-cute, too-obvious references to Batman lore. Boring and corny.

I loved it thought it was a great beginning. I thought the guy who played the Penguin stole every scene he was in.

Re: GOTHAM CITY TV Series Thread
Pilot was good, but the second half really saved it for me. Don't know how long I'll keep watching it, but Penguin is the standout so far. The actor is pretty damn good in the role and I also like the kid playing young Bruce Wayne.
Donal Logue and Jada Pinkett Smith are solid too. The guy playing Gordon is ok, but he's kind of a pussy and I don't care for the standard rookie/newbie backstory we've seen a million times already in other cop shows/movies.

Ben McKenzie is great! I think he's going to do so well with this role.

Really good start. Thought McKenzie handled the role well, and the cast so far seems very good.

Gotham- 8 mil viewers, 3.2 rating
Not great. (Fucking Big Bang Theory got a 5.3 rating, and Scorpion opened with a 3.3 rating)

Re: GOTHAM CITY TV Series Thread
That's unfortunate but expected. Actually I figured it would at least crack 9 but not 10. 8 mill means it's only going down from here. FOX is hurting bad. Like NBC a few years ago, it has built much of its schedule around, at best, modest successes. But most of their schedule is on life support.

Re: GOTHAM CITY TV Series Thread
I sort of knew it would not break 10 million because Fox is the new NBC/CW. Still 8 million is not too good although the demo numbers are good. They better hope it does not drop to Agents of Shield numbers

still, thought it would do much better and then drop. If it doesn't drop too much from here than Fox will be happy but I assume there will be a decline. There is no MNF this week

Re: GOTHAM CITY TV Series Thread
I was very pessimistic going in, but ended up loving it! It works so well that it doesn't even matter that it's Batman. I normally don't care for cop shows either, but this one found a great tone and style. I'm hooked for the season.

It's well made from a direction/visuals perspective, but the dialog feels like it's written by Christopher Moltisanti

Re: GOTHAM CITY TV Series Thread
Really enjoyed the pilot. I'm kind of curious how and why Bruce Wayne, Alfred, etc. are regulars. It would make more sense to make those characters recurring, since the bulk of Bruce Wayne's story comes much later, obviously. Considering the angle of the show, it seems forced, as Magnus said, to crowbar him into the show, since the only real part he plays now is the dead parents and the possible Batman prelude in the pilot. But how can that sustain, at least for the first few seasons?
The dialogue doesn't bother me. As long as the actors can pull it off, I'll excuse it. But the look and feel are perfect. It's got a glossy, glowing look that almost resembles a comic book.
