Re: Ashton Kutcher replaces Charlie Sheen on 2.5 Men
I guess I'll watch, I actually find Ashton Kutcher strangely charming. But this is so random!

So stupid
This is like replacing John Ritter with David Spade on 8 simple Rules, but in this case they can still use John Ritter.

Umm, he's not supposed to play the same character is he? I don't even watch this show but this makes me want to watch it .

I'm going to assume he's playing a different character. Otherwise it's the dumbest thing ever, like unspeakably dumb.

But how will they explain Sheen's character being gone?

Re: Ashton Kutcher replaces Charlie Sheen on 2.5 Men
So apparently he's not going to be playing Sheen's character. And if that's the case then what's the big deal? I think he'll be fun on the show and this may actually help bring in younger viewers, something CBS could use. The only thing that I'm curious about is how they'll explain his character's absence.

He's more of a brat than that brat kid. So we have one men and two one-halfs basically. I don't see how they went from Hugh Grant to Ashton Kutcher. It seems like they wanted a name first and now they'll think of how to continue the show.

How is this even going to benefit the show considering the CBS demographic is like over 40 years old unless they want to lure in the teen girl audience?

Re: Ashton Kutcher replaces Charlie Sheen on 2.5 Men
I'm glad Hugh Grant didn't get the job (as was rumored).
Because Grant, despite a few recent bad choices, is WAY better than this material, and I'd have been tempted to watch.
With Kutcher, I'm more than happy to continue ignoring Two and a Half Men.

Bottom line is the creator of this show didn't do his homework cause everyone knows once you establish a character like Sheen has on HIS SHOW, replacing him with another character is basically the end of this show and everyone knows it including Sheen himself.... That 70's Show went belly up when they brought in that doofus with the long hair to replace Eric Forman and it tanked.. Hell, even the cast knew it to, you could tell their expressions on their faces when they interacted with him, especially the mother.. In the end, this isn't going to work and at BEST, will last 1 season with Kutcher...

Re: Ashton Kutcher replaces Charlie Sheen on 2.5 Men
This could go either way some shows have ditched a major star and the show went on fine. Cheers survived without Shelly Long and Three's Company was still a hit without Suzanne Sommers. It is hard to say how it will work out.

Re: Ashton Kutcher replaces Charlie Sheen on 2.5 Men
Though arguably Two and a Half Men is built around Sheen's character while Cheers and Party of Five were more ensemble shows...

Both shows Jumped the Shark without their respective characters that people were comfortable with.. The problem with Three's Company(which I'm surprised any of you knew what this show was since, well, most of you probably weren't even born when this was out) was that the producers of the show insulted the viewer by always having to have a "Blonde haired" actress to resemble Suzanne Somers thinking we wouldn't notice all that much instead of simply going with another actress and a brunette hair color or something else other than "Blonde" to put it over, plus there were 3 actresses who played in Suzanne Somers footsteps after she left indicating the show truly was on it's last leg..

Re: Ashton Kutcher replaces Charlie Sheen on 2.5 Men
Three's Company more than survived without Somers and the Roepers. But I agree, that would be like getting rid of the boy from 2 and a half Men instead of sheen, and would be easily replacable.

Yeah, but once the Roepers left and Somers, it was sort of mediocre and I hate when Janet cut her hair short in the newer episodes.. At least the show had closure though in the end with Jack being married and Janet getting married and ending the show.. Can't remember if Somers made an appearance or not???

That 70's Show tanked without Ashton.
He'll be good in this.

Re: Ashton Kutcher replaces Charlie Sheen on 2.5 Men
It's not a bad choice. Kutcher was much better on TV than movies.
Maybe the idea refers to the 2 Men now being Jon Cryer and adult Jake + Kutcher is a manboy

He'll be good in this. It was mostly due to Topher Grace leaving Loyal.. Kutcher didn't help, but the show centered on Eric Forman..
