Post Gilmore Girls? A Lesson in speed talking.
It drives me nuts. There conversations are soooooooooooooooo quick. I just want to punch them and say "people don't talk this fast"

OK I feel better.

Not to purposely go against you here, but why does everyone complain about the realism of television? If Gilmore Girls sucks, or moreso, if you think it sucks, that's fine. But, it's more entertaining than real life, thus it's television. Of course people don't talk that fast. I myself would stumble over my words quite often. But, it's only TV.

Mainly the mom and the girl ... they freaking hold lightning conversations. It is uncanny ... I watch just to see if I can follow.

It is unlike anything I have ever seen.

It's funny.. I've heard people comment about how fast they talk, but I've never really noticed it myself. They sound perfectly normal to me. And I mean, that's not the only thing unrealistic about the show.. I highly doubt any mother/daughter is that skilled on pop culture that they can spit out references like that. But, that's the beauty of the show. Wek now it's not real, but it doesn't stop us from enjoying it.

I heart GILMORE GIRLS so much! I love the way they talk too. Neurotic characters rule! I'm trying to talk even faster and be more neurotic myself ;). Lorelai rules! \:D/ This is the best show ever!

And some people do talk that fast. I know a few. However on the show it's most characters, whereas around here it's unlikely there would be so many that would in the same place. But who cares? It's fun and cool and I love it! The show isn't for everyone. Some won't "get it" and will dislike the way they talk and won't be able to understand anything they say, others will "get it" and have no problem understanding what is said and will even love the way they talk. I myself love it and understand every word said. It wouldn't be as fun if the characters weren't this cool. I love it when characters ramble, as long as they are interesting anyway, and here they are definitely interesting. For more characters like it you can find some movies with neurotic characters, like KISSING JESSICA STEIN for example, which is one of my favorite movies and has one of my favorite neurotic characters. Jessica Stein is funny and adorable and I love the way she talks!

Anyway, GILMORE GIRLS is an acquired taste. It has a loyal fanbase that loves it and it leaves others that watch it scratching their heads. One of my sisters doesn't love it and she doesn't get the way they talk or understand what they say and all of the cool references and big words, and I can't help but judge her and think she's just not smart enough. It's for certain people. I love my sister, but it's true. Big words are over her head as well as a lot of people's in my family. Still, my parents love GILMORE GIRLS (I've gotten them hooked) and so does my incredibly stupid brother who is dumber than you could imagine. He enjoys it too, even if he might not get a lot of what is said. But out of the people I know, if someone doesn't like it and is dumbfounded by what is being said I'm likely going to think they're just not smart enough to "get" the show. I can't help it. Besides, it's likely true . I'm sorry but when it comes to GILMORE GIRLS I get defensive! I can't bare to hear of someone not liking it, and if they do I'll just write them off as dumb .

Hell, everyone loves the LORD OF THE RINGS movies and the stupid Elvish talk in those movies was annoying and lame and I didn't get it. It went in one ear and out the other. But that isn't a real language so I'm not stupid for not understanding or giving a crap about what they say .

For the people that have a hard time understanding what is being said on GILMORE GIRLS though, try watching it with the closed captioning on, or if you're watching it on DVD you can also watch it with the subtitles on. That might help.

I love Gilmore Girls, and I think that the way they talk just perfectly fits into the show. The show as whole is pretty quircky, so why wouldn't they talk funny? I talk very fast, and I always have to repeat what I said to people that aren't used to my way of talking. There are people that talk fast. I see that as a good thing. You can so so much more things in so much less time, and you can make a great conversation in 2 min, compared to a normal conversation in like 5 min.

One of the greatest TV-Shows ever. And I love their speed-talking.

Yeah, both of them are a little too clever sometimes, but c'mon, they're funny.

And actually, it's not so much that they're talking fast as it is the camera cutting back and forth and back and forth.
