Wow, GA hit another season high. It'll be interesting to see how it does in its second ratings acid test next week, when it doesn't air out of DH at all (Instead it gets a two-hour EM:HE), and it goes up against the Survivor finale, which has been picking up steam as of late.

Yes I do, and I hated the Pope (my mom is religious and she hated the Pope too and thinks it's ridiculous, as do I, how people worship them like they're God and like they know God personally and can help get you into heaven). I hate anyone who hates me, does that make my a hypocrite? Maybe, but I don't give a shit and can deal with that. Plus both Pope movies seemed retarded and I'm happy most didn't bother watching them. People would rather see the wicked fun sin of Desperate Housewives instead, and that's cool .

Well good to know Housewives ratings have sort of stabilized at the 25 million mark.
Then again it's going on a month long hiatus I presume! So, we'll see when it gets back.
Wow. Grey's Anatomy is turning into a monster. I can't imagine what the Superbowl number is gonna be like
Bad thing about Grey's Anatomy is that its growing ratings are due to the fact that it has been growing in momentum throughout the season thus far. This Sunday will be their 12th episode!
Which means for the months of January through May, we'll only have like 10-12 new episodes. EEK!
They should increase episode counts for the tv season. Leaves way too much room for repeats. And kills momentum. 3 weeks without Lost is like unplugging life support.

Last season ABC ordered 13, and only 9 aired. The first four episodes from this season were really from season one. Combined with this season's 22 (Possibly 23), it'll have 26/27 episodes to air. There are about 34 Sundays in the regular season, so 3 repeats will be aired for Christmas break (18th, Christmas and New Years), then there are the Oscars in March 6, which leaves 3-4 more weeks. Since the Post-DH is so high-profile, I could see ABC trying out a midseason show or two after it, sort of like what they did with GA last season.
So, no worries.

Well for one I know the Pope hated me and people like me because he said so in his book. This is from earlier in the year:
Gay nups new evil: Pope
BY CORKY SIEMASZKO
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER
The new book by Pope John Paul that likens abortion to "legal extermination" and questions whether gay marriage is part of "a new ideology of evil" got panned yesterday by some Jewish and gay-rights groups.
The criticism by Jews in Germany was so strident that the Vatican's top doctrinal official called a press conference to defend the controversial passages in "Memory and Identity: Conversations Between Millenniums."
The Pope "was not trying to put the Holocaust and abortion on the same plane," Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger said. The pontiff was warning that evil lurks "even in liberal political systems," he said.
But Paul Spiegel, president of the Central Council for Jews in Germany, said the Pope's fifth book reveals "the Catholic Church does not understand or does not want to understand that there is an enormous difference between mass genocide and what women do with their bodies."
In another section, the Pope takes a swipe at politicians pushing for gay marriage.
"It is legitimate and necessary to ask oneself if this is not perhaps part of a new ideology of evil, perhaps more insidious and hidden, which attempts to pit human rights against the family and against man," he writes.
Jon Davidson, legal director of the Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund, said he respects "the Pope's right to have an opinion."
"But I don't think the Church's views should be the laws of this country or other countries," he said. "It's ironic because the people fighting to get married are seeking to protect their families. Demonizing this hardly seems like a loving and religiously charitable act."
The Pope also reveals that he believes the Turkish gunman who shot him in 1981 was part of a Communist plot.
"Someone else masterminded it," he wrote.

And most religious people hate gay people as well. Not all of them, just 80 or 85% of them, therefore I hate them as well, at least the ones who hate me.

Agree. The Bible was written eons ago. Times have changed so it is really difficult to take everything it says word-for-word. Sure, it does say that homosexuals will go to Hell but that is only under the assumption that the only reason humanity exists is to procreate (since homosexuals cannot do that in the way God intended, they are going against their purpose as humans). The Bible is now more for learning general lessons. For example, thou shalt not kill is something that is obviously a good idea. The same could be said for the other nine Commandments and a multitude of other ideas present in both the Old and New Testaments.

I wasn't even gonna get into this argument but wanted to point one thing out....
For the record... I don't really hate the Pope. I respect everyone's religion and basis of faith. I do, sometimes, think the power the Pope holds and what he means to the people is a bit much. I definitely don't have as strong or, for some of it, parallel thoughts and arguments as Mike does...
But this is what I wanted to comment on...
Quote: In another section, the Pope takes a swipe at politicians pushing for gay marriage.
"It is legitimate and necessary to ask oneself if this is not perhaps part of a new ideology of evil, perhaps more insidious and hidden, which attempts to pit human rights against the family and against man," he writes.
I don't get what's so new about.
He is presumably talking about gay marriage (very different than the central issue of homosexuality) but it just doesn't make sense why.
Bringing in gay marriage does not make more gays, so this point is completely pointless!
Unless, he's really talking plainly about homosexuality which isn't something new but has been around for milleniums and was vert commonplace in history BCE.
And a side-note to that... although I am gay... I'm not as strong a proponent for gay marriage as one might suspect. I've actually (don't want to say given up, but....) had a changd outlook on the idea of marriage and is, in my opinion, one of the most misunderstood or misconieved (if that's even a word!) social and cultural institutions.

Sorry, had to chime in. Both the last popes have been homophobes. Ratzinger is as we speak trying to ban gay people from being priests (apparently both things are not compatible, even if you remain celibate). Both have called gay people "Vicious", "sinful", "destroyers of moral values" and a long, long etcetera...
I think It´s perfectly reasonable to hate somebody who wants to discriminate you and thing you are unnatural and perverted. And if the Bible says "Do not hate", then both Popes are hypocrats. What´s worse, hate or repulse? I don´t care.
Religion is one thing. Organized religion is another. A Pope is the head of the later, and being such and homophobic - and sexist - institution, me, and everyone really, is allowed to comment, critizice or yep, even hate.

Ummm...do you expect the head of the Catholic Church to be pro-gay? The "Both the last popes have been homophobes" statement is ridiculous. I could just as well say that all the leaders of the KKK like black people. Not that I would ever compare KKK to the Pope, it's just a comparison to show that things like this are self-explanatory. Do you expect the Pope to re-invent the Bible?

Ummm...do you expect the head of the Catholic Church to be pro-gay? The "Both the last popes have been homophobes" statement is ridiculous. I could just as well say that all the leaders of the KKK like black people. Not that I would ever compare KKK to the Pope, it's just a comparison to show that things like this are self-explanatory. Do you expect the Pope to re-invent the Bible?
No, I don´t expect them to be anything. Like the KKK is racist, the catholic church is homophobic. I do not care if it´s a capital part of the church´s ideology... Fact is, it insults and discriminates me.
I don´t think anybode showed surprise at a Pope making homophobic statements (I narrowed it to the last two cause I thought that is what we were talking about, anyway). I do not care if It´s a capital part of the catholic religion, as I do not think that is an excuse. The base is an organization can be sexism, racism, homophobia, I do not care, neither I think that excuses such group of people from their behaviour.
And talking about expectations, since you brought up that comparison, do you think that a black person is not entitled to hate the head of the KKK? Is that not be expected? Is that irracional?

We are not talking about hate here, though. As I said, I don't think that true Bible followers would hate gay people either.

I didn't think you were supposed to call people names on the board but I guess it's ok if you have a ton of posts and are in good with the people who run the site .
Anyway, I could care less if you think I'm an imbecile. At least I'm not an asshole, which I think is worse.
Besides, it's not like I wasn't right in thinking Get Rich or Die Tryin' would be likely to have violence errupt at theaters from people seeing it because it attracted that kind of crowd (and I didn't mean black like MovieDude assumed, it would attract violent people of any race). There were at least four major incidents of violence at theaters showing it that made news stories. So call me an imbecile or racist (which I so am not) for thinking that would happen but obviously I was right.
I agree with you Dar on a lot of what you said, so well-said and thanks for saving me the trouble of having to say it.

You just did the same thing right there. You could have stood above the fray but instead you did the opposite.

Well I felt it had to be said. I get called an imbecile twice and never say anything until now. I'm not just going to sit back and say absolutely nothing, I'm going to comment on it.

Don't worry, I wasn't trying to be nice to you either
