 Re: Renewed/Canceled 2008-2009
The first cancellation of the season was obviously going to be "Do Not Disturb" from the getgo. Not only is Jerry O'Connell absolute poison when it comes to television shows, the concept sounded stupid and unoriginal. Then when the negative word came out and the producers publicly acknowledged that it was a disaster, it was clear that it was a goner.
It's somewhat disappointing that "90210" got a back-nine order. It's a pretty lame series and its declining ratings every week reflect that.
On the plus side, YES for "True Blood" (the best new show of the season) getting renewed!

 Re: Renewed/Canceled 2008-2009
thefutoncritic only reports DND being preemptied next week and returning the week after that with the original pilot. Though Ausiello is usually right when it comes to insider info.
It's was clear from the start 90210 would get a full season order. Yeah, the ratings for the original episodes have declined considerably, but it still pulls numbers CW needs (around 3 million), and the repeat does a really good business to. The demo number for a rerun was higher than what GG and Reaper managed to pull last season. That does tell something. Lameness had nothing to do with the renewal. And last episode was pretty lame. It certainly didn't motivate people to stop fleeing the show.
And YAY for True Blood. More sex, more vamp, more camp. Perfect mix.

 Re: Renewed/Canceled 2008-2009
Honestly, I'm surprised Fringe has caught on too. It seemed like one of those shows where people would tune out after a while. It's good, but it's horribly rough around the edges. I think some people are watching because it's JJ Abrams (even though he's not a hit machine) and some are watching because it's being compared to The X-Files, even though the shows don't share a whole lot in common. People are probably staying tuned in for John Noble (and secretly, Joshua Jackson... he's surprisingly good in the role!).

 Re: Renewed/Canceled 2008-2009
I tried watching Fringe, but 2 things turned me off:
1. The stupid location CGI thing....whatever you call it. 2. The female lead - OMFG, she bores me to tears. If they cast someone else in her place (anyone), I would watch again.

Usually when someone is craptacular in their role you kinda get used to it after a few episodes, but this one manages to be awful with every new episode. Not because Jackson is good, but because both of their characters are fun. Though the last episode was a bore.

Opportunity Knocks Cancelled After Just Three Episodeshttp://www.tv.com/story/11742.html?tag=headlines;title;11742&om_act=convert&om_clk=news It was a fun show that I wish would have made it the whole season.

Jigsaw wrote: As Borat would say, "Very nice!" That's definitely a WTF move. But the new movie does come out next year and maybe FOX is hoping for a bit of a ratings surge. But the show is definitely done this season unless it perks up a lot in the ratings by the end of it.

 Re: Renewed/Canceled 2008-2009
Fox's top programming guy Kevin Reilly was at NBC till a year ago. While at NBC he kept alive 30 Rock, The Office and Friday Night Lights despite crappy ratings. So it's possible he'll keep Sarah Connor going next season even if it doesn't get a lot better ratings.

One of those shows has since become a higher-rated critics fav while the other has won a gazillion Emmys. It shows that patience sometimes does pay off.
Not saying Terminator will enjoy becoming a critics favorite or an Emmy darling, but it does have potential to grow in the ratings.
