 The "Lost" Thread: Season 5 Discussion on this can never start too early.
SPOILERS for the past seasons obviously!
Known info:
- 17 episodes, set to kick off in late January or early February 2009
- According to Lindelof the season will be "about why the people who left the island need to get back"
- The episodes are supposed to be presented in a new format (not just the usual flashbacks/flash-forwards) - part of each episode will take on the island and part off the island (in a different time!)
- Michael has in fact been killed off and is NOT returning. Perrineau confirmed that.
- Locke and Jin will return (not known whether as regulars or not)
- Danielle Rousseau amd Libby are both set to appear. The back stories of both will be fully explored.
- Claire will not be part of the main cast in the fifth Season, but she will be in the sixth season (!)
- Michelle Rodriguez will return in the second episode as well as Cheech Marin as Hurley's dad
- Nestor Carbonell will be back as Richard Alpert in the Season premiere!
- Richard Alpert's back story will be addressed in this season.

Heavily rumored:
- Charles Widmore and Christian Shephard might be promoted to main cast members
- The history of the island and the four-toed statue will be explained
- There will be deaths once again and not just small ones either

Re: The "Lost" Thread: Season 5 That's crappy about Claire. I only recently watched the season four finale and I kind of found it crappy. Claire's brief appearence in Kate's dream was the only part I really liked.

I still maintain that was the biggest mistake the show has made as far as offing cast members

Re: The "Lost" Thread: Season 5 The finale worked for me in a cheesy fun way. If I were trying to enjoy the show in the same way I did when it first started, I'd have hated it. But at this point very different expectations.
In other news, I wish this series was just a normal september to may series like it used to be. I don't think the change in format helped it.
