We might as well combine the threads for the two shows to give 30 Rock some love and attention.

30 Rock >>>>>>>> The Office, especially last season.
Anyways, I'm beyond pumped for the best comedy series on television to return I'm excited for "The Office" as well - hopefully it gets great again after the mediocre fourth season.

30 Rock! I can't wait anymorrrrrreeeeeeeeee damnit.
Ugh and I couldn't even watch The Office anymore if I wanted to...the stupid dorm TV-room gets so overcrowded for The Office...but then luckily everyone leaves for 30 Rock and I have the whole couch to myself!
I guess there are some benefits to 30 Rock's failures...

With the "Office" spinoff idea being abandoned in favor of the Amy Poehler series, "The Office" has now taken the coveted post-Superbowl slot.
NBC should have given that timeslot to "30 Rock." It could have greatly benefitted from it and gained a larger audience. And, of course, "The Office" episode is going to be another one of the wonderful one-hour ones. I can't believe that the creative forces behind the show didn't realize this last season - "The Office" DOES NOT work as a one-hour series.
Whatever though, I'm glad it's at least a show I watch and enjoy again unlike the previous two years.

They didn't give it to 30 Rock because they'd like to have more then 9 million people watch the show after the Super Bowl.

As much as I love 30 Rock, I don't see its fanbase growing much. The Office has a way better chance even in its 5th season.

woohoo! Jennifer Aniston is doing a 30 Rock guest spot. Should do something for the ratings.

WOW. That's actually really impressive as she sure does roles very infrequently. The last thing I remember her in was The Break-Up.

>>>Rumor has it that when 'The Office' returns September 25, we'll not only get a happy update on last season's disappointing Jim/Pam almost-engagement, but we'll also find Michael forcing the staff to participate in a weight-loss challenge. As for cast members, it's been confirmed that Ryan, Toby and new HR rep Holly will all be back this season.
Didn't think Toby was gone - that should be fun with that triangle.
and on Ryan, hope he comes back to the office staff as well - lots of possible fun in that one also.
Just watched the last two episodes of 30 Rock's second season, and surprisingly didn't hate them like I thought I would. The show still has a few annoying supporting characters, and it tries way too hard to be funny sometimes, but I did laugh (not as often as I should have, judging by the constant need to make a joke of something on the show).
I was reading a review of 30 Rock and the critic compared its comedy to a live action Family Guy, which I don't think is so far off. I wish the show would open up these characters beyond one-dimension sometimes. I'm not saying it has to be a M*A*S*H level of serious, but sometimes it feels like a neverending string of jokes. No break for the characters to develop, especially disposable supporting characters.
Then again, I'm a single voice amongst a mass of praise for the show, so I'm obviously in the minority, as always. It's doing something right for everyone else.

Oh Ryan has been confirmed? Huh, I wonder in what capacity, if it's just a cameo from prison or something, maybe something with Kelly?

Re: The Office S5, 30 Rock S3
I just watched it and I must say, despite the fact that I found last season disappointing and still maintain that an hour is too long for this show, I really enjoyed the episode tonight. The weight loss thing was HILARIOUS - I loved Creed and especially Kelly. I loved the scene with Kelly where she was trying to make Ryan jealous, classic. All of the supporting characters are continuously awesome and really make this show worth watching. I also really like Amy Ryan's character as well. But the definite highlight of the episode was Jim finally proposing to Pam! I got so excited when he bent down on one knee - the scene was perfectly executed, very well-shot and incredibly effective. I'm not ashamed to admit that I teared up a little bit. LOVED it. That whole sequence basically increased my enjoyment of this episode a great deal.
Anyways, a solid start to what is hopefully a great season.
