I'll definitely watch. I love the concept and Anna Paquin, and Alan Ball's last series "Six Feet Under" is one of the best television shows ever. Can't wait! :)

I don't know if I'll end up watching the show, but the advertising campaign for this has been phenomenal. At least you can't say HBO isn't trying to market it.

I just watched the early version of the pilot that leaked online a while back (some of the actors have been replaced and a few scenes have been excised) and LOVED it! I can't wait for the premiere. If anyone's interested in seeing the original cut, it's posted below:

Just watched the pilot episode. It had a couple of scenes missing and stuff, but I enjoyed it. I'll download the full episode once it airs.

Anyone watch the first episode tonight? I did, and aside from the re-casting of Sookie's friend it was pretty much the exact same thing I watched a while back. My thoughts are the same - this show is awesome and I can't wait to see where it goes. I don't get the negativity.

I wanted to like it, but man the pilot sucked! The worse thing about it really is the acting, specially by the girl that plays Tara.

I think Alan should have spent more time setting everything up. I didn't like how we (the viewers) were supposed to jump right in and accept that vampires are now "out."

Other things that bugged me: does everyonework two jobs? Why does the grandma have to be senile? So Sookie has some special power???

I'm give it a chance next week again because I am curious as to where everything goes, but it better get good quick.

The guy that plays Jason is hot as hell!!!!!!

Yeah, the premiere felt more like the second episode, and that we skipped the actual premiere. I usually enjoy a show or movie that just throws you right into the story without much explanation of what is the Previously On, but it just seemed weird here. But I will of course keep watching, it's Alan fricking Ball.

I really enjoyed Anna Paquin and the man playing Bill.

The premiere posted disappointing results, which isn't surprising. I hope it can manage to stick around though.

Rome was great too bad it cost so much to make one episode.

Didnt they split the cost with BBC? I dont see how its more expensive to make than the Tudors considering that Rome never really showed any epic battles in the show. Still a great show because Ray Stevenson and Kevin McKidd made the show.

As for True Blood, I'll pass. It looks too much like a Anne Rice movie. Still HBO has the Wire dont they?

They did. I think BBC footed more the bill to be honest.

Rome cost $100m just to make the first season, with HBO contributing $85m and BBC $15m. The Tudors doesn't have shit on Rome.

Quote:
In 2002, HBO and the BBC agreed to co-produce a new series based on the events of the "Roman Revolution". Towards that end, the two networks committed a US$100 million budget to the production of twelve 1-hour episodes, with HBO contributing US$85 million, and the BBC contributing US$15 million.
Between March 2004 and May 2005, Rome was filmed, in co-production with RAI, in the Italian countryside, on six sound stages at Rome's Cinecittà studios, and in a collection of massive sets in Cinecittà studios' back lots: five acres of outdoor sets which comprised an elaborate "period reconstruction" of sections of ancient Rome. It was a huge undertaking, with an international crew of 350, and more than 50 local Italian interns. The production is regarded as one of the most expensive in the history of TV series. Funding was generously employed to recreate an impressively detailed set featuring a number of Roman Villas, the forum and a vast slum area of the ancient city of Rome.

Well doesnt HBO still have Flight of the Concords? I havent really seen any of episodes of that show. Also did Extras already have a series finale because I only watched a few episodes here and there sporadically. Well in a way, I see them seriously lacking in dramas or horros. Bring back Deadwood, Carnivale, and Tales from the Crypt

I watched the pilot. It was mediocre. There were some funny moments (mainly rants of Tara), some bizzare ones (sex with a vampire), but overall the story seems pointless as someone mentioned earlier.

Even Carnivale, HBO's slowest and possibly TV's in general slowest show managed to set up a story about good VS evil that served as a series arc very nicely in its pilot episode, but this seemed more like a basic set up for a two hour movie and we never managed to see the other half, the more interesting one.

I absolutely love this show! Tonight's episode was so engrossing. Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin have great chemistry and I loved all their scenes together, mainly the moments by the water and the graveyard. And the final shot itself was quite chilling. I'm pumped for next week!

This will definitely end up being the best new show of the season. It would be hard to beat at this point.

Second episode scored 1.8 million viewers, up from the 1.4 that watched the premiere (according to Variety).

Ooooo, just watched the second episode. I totally loved it. Everyone in the show is great and there seems to be quite a interesting main story or two shaping up.
