'Dexter' Breaks Records, Why Aren't You Watching?

You haven't seen Showtime's Dexter yet? You have no idea what you're missing... at least there are a million people out there who know what's quality programming as "Dexter" broke Showtime's records this past Sunday. The hollywood Reporter reports that the serial killer drama starring Michael C. Hall drew 1.23 million viewers at 9 p.m. and a total of 1.63 million for the 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. runs. This marks the most-watched episode ever for a Showtime series, with the 1.23 million single-airing haul surpassing the previous record of "Soul Food," which drew 1.21 million in 2004. Sunday night's episode of "Dexter" also grew an impressive 41% from the previous week. "Dexter's" surge also lifted its lead-out series, the sophomore drama "Brotherhood," which averaged 651,000 viewers at 10 p.m. and another 110,000 at midnight -- the largest audience ever for the critically praised series and up 47% from the previous week.


AWESOME! The shows is fucking fantastic! Everyone should be watching, at least on DVD.

Ah, yes, Showtime is wonderful isn't it? Remember back when they were touting Dead Like Me as breaking records and then canceled it?

That's awesome, but... was this one of those Showtime free-preview weekends? I mean, 41% increase from last week? That's crazy.

I don't think so since I didn't get free acees to it and I did the last time they did it.

Also, was it the finale?? If not, then the finale may be even bigger.

It deserves it too because thats the only premium cable show Im watching now that Deadwood, Rome and Sopranos are gone

Finale's not till 3 more episodes. Maybe it was the Doakes getting framed that spiked the increase

Nope, it wasn't a free weekend. I always get those and didn't. There have been two since it started though (the first was its premiere weekend). Thankfully the last time they had one they did a marathon for Season 2 and aired the first four or five episodes I believe, so I got to catch up that way. So far, from those episodes, this season is easily an improvement over Season 1, which was also great.

Oh crap I totally didn't realize they did a marathon. Damn!! I watched the premiere but didn't want to watch a random mid-way episode when the second free trial came along.

I'm not surprised it's doing so well. This season has been one of the most compelling seasons of any show I've ever seen. Cliffhanger after cliffhanger after cliffhanger, with every single episode resolving major problems and raising the stakes with new ones, each one adhering to the rules of cause and effect.

Tim Kring should be taking notes.

Fantastic news. I love this show and it's true that this show is the most compelling thing on tv. Amazing stuff they show every week. Can't wait for the season finale.
