Post TR Knight & Katherine Heigl quit Grey's Anatomy
Quote:
Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight are both leaving "Grey's Anatomy," according to co-star James Pickens Jr.

"Yes, she is," Pickens told Us Weekly when asked if Heigl is leaving the ABC hospital drama. "Wherever Katherine goes, I wish her nothing but the best."

Pickens, speaking backstage after last weekend's NAACP Awards lunch in Beverly Hills, expressed similar sentiments regarding Knight.

"He's going too," Pickens said. "He just wanted to pursue other career paths."

Both Heigl and Knight have made no secret about their unhappiness on "Grey's."

The vociferous Heigl, who's complained about storylines in the past, made even fewer friends on the show when she blamed her lack of an Emmy nomination last year on the "Grey's" writers (for not giving her more to work with).

Knight has publicly complained about his lack of screen time and was reportedly threatening to leave the show earlier this season.

Ironically, ABC entertainment chief Stephen McPherson told TV critics last month that he expected Knight to return next season (although he didn't say in what capacity that would be).

Glad to see heigl leave. But I'll miss George. Not that I've been watching the last two seasons.

Apparently, sources with the show are claiming that Pickens "jumped the gun" a bit with his comments. It's supposedly true that both of them will be leaving but ABC and the Grey's people haven't officially released them from their contracts quite yet so it's not signed, sealed, delivered exactly.

But anyway. I would say I would miss T.R. Knight and George, but George has had so little to do the past season or two that I wouldn't even notice him being gone.

I think Katherine Heigl is, and has always been, fabulous with the material she's given on Grey's, so I'll miss her as an actress on the show. On the other hand, the character of Izzie has become an absolute, irrevocable mess and it just seems too late to undo the damage Shonda and co. have done with her. It's been clear Katherine has wanted off Grey's for a long time, and her movie career seems really promising, so it's probably for the best.

I don't know if those two leaving is good or bad for the show. It's hard to say.

What kind of post-GA careers do you think they'll have?

I dunno about T.R. Knight.

Heigl, assuming she's not David Caruso Part 2, should be fine. Her last two films, including one she anchored by herself, were both very successful. And The Ugly Truth has all the makings of a hit.

Well, T.R. Knight would have more time with his really young bf. LOL (I just found out the guy is like... 18? 19? 21? lol)

Hmmm... watch they fire James Pickens instead...

Hopefully, Heigl's post-Grey's career crashes and burns just because of the terrible way she treated the show that gave her previously going nowhere career life.

I'll miss Katherine. I luv Izzie. She's always been my favorite character. She was fantastic in the first three seasons. It's sad Shonda ruined the character of Izzie.

I won't miss George at all. He has all of 2 minutes screen time in each episode nowadays. No wonder T.R. wants to leave. George was really good in the first few seasons, but just like Izzie, Shonda has ruined his character. But unlike Izzie, George could be repaired. But I completely understand T.R. wanting to leave. George has less screen time than the new interns. His "performances" in each episode nowadays are pretty sad, pathetic and funny-in-a-bad-way. Poor T.R..

Oh please. The writers of Grey's have run her character into the ground. She had an absolutely horrible storyline in season 4. I too would've been like, "Fuck you, Shonda." Katherine doesn't want to put up with bad storylines, why should she?

Post Re: TR Knight & Katherine Heigl quit Grey's Anatomy
there's talk that she's leaving her agency as well

from DeadlineHollywood

Quote:
The TV and movie star has been with Paradigm's Norm Aladjem for a decade. And he's helped the Grey's Anatomy star, with her manager and lawyer, pull down big coin as the film offers pour in. (I hear $6 million against 6% for her romantic comedy opposite 300 hunk Gerard Butler, The Ugly Truth, which Sony is so high on it moved from April to this summer.) Then why am I hearing that Katherine Heigl is taking agency meetings? Paradigm strenuously denies this, telling me it's "100% not true" and she's not going anywhere. By the way, Paradigm says Heigl has "not yet" officially left Grey's Anatomy. So much for that rumor du jour.

Well, this isn't really news, is it? I've been reading rumors about their departures for months, and I don't even watch the show.

I can't possibly see a future where T.R. Knight is any sort of movie or television star. Maybe the geeky friend on some sitcom, but nothing more. And that's no knock at his acting abilities. I believe he was nominated for an Emmy. But more talented people have fallen victim to leaving a show (or having their big show canceled) and going nowhere as a result.

Katherine Heigl might do alright. The movies are tough to break into, and she's not exactly in yet. Jennifer Garner looked to be on her way to a movie career after decent-sized hits in Daredevil and 13 Going on 30, and as much as I like her, where is it now? A supporting role in Juno? A moderate success (ignoring the budget) in The Kingdom? I wouldn't be surprised if Heigl is back on TV in some capacity in a few years, much like Sarah Michelle Gellar will be if her HBO show comes to fruition.

Hollywood is a fickle bastard.

In its prime, I believe ER was way bigger than Grey's Anatomy, and a little less character driven. Kind of like CSI. The CSIs have their cute little continuing plotlines, but people know they can watch at any time and get the picture, just like ER. Grey's is a little different.

But we're arguing with Munky, someone who didn't think Slumdog would get a BP nom at the Oscars.

Agreed. He's the new Ben McKenzie, only with less talent.

Heigl already has a rather successful career outside of GA. 27 Desses and Knocked Up were big hits and The Ugly Truth is on its way to become a hit as well, IMO.

Is Ben McKenzie in another show I don't know about? Because otherwise, you reiterated my point.

T.R. Knight will have no career, for the most part. Maybe some supporting roles, but he won't be around much. He should really just stick with GA for the paycheck since he won't be getting one otherwise. The only roles he'll probably get will be in independent gay-themed films.

He's in the new NBC drama Southland, premiering in April.

Ha. Television Without Pity posted this really nasty, cruel garbage about Heigl and Knight leaving that managed to incorporate offensive homophobic humor into the column, and 90% of the comments left on it are about how shitty the column was. Good going, TWoP. I usually like the website but it's gone downhill lately and this is Exhibit A why.

i can't believe a chick went there though. obviously no fag has crowned her hag.

and didn't TR announce he was leaving a few months ago. and i can't blame either one for leaving. Ever since episode 2 of season 3, it's gone downhill. it's amazing how Emily Pompeo and Sandra Oh have yet to get the short end of the stick.

IMO, removing Addison made the show even less enjoyable.

I still watch and enjoy Grey's (well, except for storylines usually involving Izzie, which is why it's not hard to understand why Heigl wants to bail) but it's a shadow of its former self. It used to be my favorite show in its first two and a half or so seasons.
