"Private Practice" (Season 1)
Private Practice is the highly anticipated new drama series from Shonda Rhimes, the creator of Grey's Anatomy. The spinoff follows the lovable doctor Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh) as she leaves Seattle Grace Hospital for a new job at a clinic in California. After fans of Grey's Anatomy got a sneak peek at the series in May with the extended episode "The Other Side Of This Life," many were concerned about the quality of the show, fearing that it wouldn't live up to the standard already set by GA. Thankfully, Rhimes has completely retooled the show and eliminated some of the more annoying elements. She has also replaced original cast member Merrin Dungey with Audra Macdonald. The show seems to finally be on the right track and I personally can't wait to watch it. Addison was one of my favorite characters on Grey's Anatomy and that was due in large part to Kate Walsh's winning performance. She managed to transform a potentially unlikable character into one of the most charming and charismatic personalities on television. I'll definitely be tuning in on Wednesday at 9pm when the show premieres.
Here is an extended promo for the series premiere featuring several new scenes. It also shows that James Pickens Jr. is guest starring in the premiere as Chief Webber, giving Addison's character on GA a bit of closure. I actually think the promo makes it look really fun and appealing

Re: "Private Practice" (Season 1)
I don't know. It just doesn't appeal to me as much as I hoped.
That is not the Addison I fell in love with on Grey's Anatomy. I liked her better when she was aching, troubled, broken-hearted, mopey, and depressed
Seriously though. It looks fun and I just MIGHT check it out but it doesn't look like it's for me.
Oh by the way, the location for the show (Santa Monica) is where I live.

Of course, I will watch. Addison was my favorite character on Grey's.
I just hope the show, you know, doesn't suck. Kate Walsh is too good of an actress to be forced to carry a crappy vehicle.

Apparently the show is using pretty much the same formula as Gray's Anatomy. I hope Addison is the main focus of the show. I hate the large cast. There's too many shows with huge casts right now. The fact that this is formulaic and that they're not trying something fresh with it is concerning. I'll catch the season premier. But I'm not holding my breath for it.

Is the elevator still gonna talk to Addison?

No, that was scrapped.
Anyways, it's almost time for the premiere. I hope it's good.

Re: "Private Practice" (Season 1)
I really really hate when a character works on a show because the show is not centered around them, they take the character. Give them their own show. What should have been evident in the first place becomes quite clear.
I think this will follow in the footsteps of Joey. I don't watch TV now anyway but I doubt I'd be watching regardless...

I th ink it could hope up for a couple of season's, but I dont see what your going to get from this what you can't get from Grey's. And this may work better than Joey since Friends worked a little better with an ensemble, and you take it to one character who was pretty one dimensional, it got old fast. Kate's character, who's name escapes me for some reason right now, has a lot still to go through and she kind of won our hearts even though we hated her at first. Agian, naturally it could go either way.

Re: "Private Practice" (Season 1)
I kinda don't like it. I hate everyone but Addison. I think this kinda proves that Addison, while awesome, was only made better interacting with the Grey's cast. Even if she had like crap plots the last half of the third season.

Re: "Private Practice" (Season 1)
Well. It was only OK. I think the cast is too large, several characters are unnecessary (including the midwife receptionist, that blonde bitchy doctor from the nearby hospital, etc.).
However. It does seem like a show that has the potential to grow. So I'll stick with it for now. Plus, I did find Addison as appealing as ever.

Re: "Private Practice" (Season 1)
I really enjoyed it. Kate Walsh was as great as ever and stole every scene, but the rest of the cast did a good job. And it definitely seems like it has a lot of potential. Remember that Brothers and Sisters started out as only "OK" last season and quickly became one of the best shows on television.

Ya this will continue to be average. She has no, flair. I love Kate and thought she was great but nothing happened that we cant get on Grey's. I wont be watching.

If nothing else comes on at 8 pm, I'll tune in just to watch Kate Walsh. She's awesome. But that cast. oy vey. no chemistry at all.....
I watched the premiere. Not bad, really. But I didn't find it to be extraordinary. I might try it again, since pilots rarely hit it out of the ballpark for a series.

Re: "Private Practice" (Season 1)
Not great yet, but a big improvement over the first episode. I'd actually consider this episode "good" rather than "mediocre" like the first one.
And yes, the "baby switch" scene was very emotional and well-done.
