Hrm.
Nice to hear that, even if it's a bit (and by bit I mean quite) ridiculous. Still, no guarantee the show wont suck again.

Re: The 24 Season 7 Spoiler Thread
Does this mean the distincitive phone ring of CTU is gone? Do Do Doo Do.
Hell, that was the only good thing about last season.
I'm weary of this whole trial business. How is Jack going to yell at people, hang up without saying goodbye and go rogue?

Re: The 24 Season 7 Spoiler Thread
I hope they introduce him in a cool way, not just have him... appear as the season begins.

Umm
This has me concerned 24 will jump the shark even further next season, if that was possible.

As long as it gives the series a shot of life, I'm perfectly willing to accept it, especially after Tony's wimpy, anti-climatic "death." If not, I'll probably end up agreeing with you. Still, at the moment I'm very, very cautiously optimistic.

http://www.zap2it.com/tv/news/zap-24andtonyreturn,0,7320640.story?coll=zap-tv-headlinesWow, they're really blowing the lid off this. I would've preferred it be a surprise (even though I was bound to read spoilers). I see the production delay has put an end to the "2-night, 4-hour premiere" to kick off the season. Instead, we'll get a 2-night, 3-hour premiere. Better than nothing.

Re: The 24 Season 7 Spoiler Thread
And they're airing into June. Can't even get a May sweeps finale. Well, at least now I can watch 2/3 of the Golden Globe telecast. I'm guessing the man reason they're revealing his return is to peak interest in those that left last season. It'll be interesting to see if it works.

Well I guess that'll be nostalgia time (regular season extending into June).

Re: The 24 Season 7 Spoiler Thread
I don't think there needs to be any major explanation. It's not like he was decapitated or shot in the chest fifty times. In fact, I'm willing to accept no explanation if they just pretend Season 6 never happened after episode four or five.

I don't think he was officially dead, I think it was assumed and they found out later he had weak vitals. Now does make me wonder why Jack doesn't know by Season 7, maybe there was a coverup for some reason.

Re: The 24 Season 7 Spoiler Thread
I kind of wish they had held off and made it a shocker but I guess they figure it would leak out anyway. I read this from the LA Times
“There was no such clock when Tony died in Jack's arms and this was deliberate, executive producer Howard Gordon wrote in an e-mail to The Times this afternoon.
"We didn't give him the silent clock because we always wanted to keep alive the possibility for some kind of (admittedly) miraculous resurrection ... which we will explain," Gordon wrote. "He's definitely NOT the Almeida we once knew."
I am not sure what that last line means. I think it is very ambigious. Some 24 fans are thinking it might mean Tony is going to become a bad guy. I don't think it necessary means that. It could mean he is down and out drunk who wants nothing to do with Jack anymore. Another possibility is he is testifying against Jack at his trial. I think the later actually make some sense. I could see Tony having some bitterness against Jack at least for a while.

Silent clock is overrated. For fucks sake, Edgar got it, while Mason didn't.
Anyway, more and more dislike this piece of news.

Re: The 24 Season 7 Spoiler Thread
I remember thinking all this talk about Tony returning last year was a bit retarded. I mean the guy was clearly killed in season 5.
And what's all this about a silent clock? So he didn't get one when he died... he was still bloody dead! I imagine the 24 fans who are using the silent clock argument to justify completely ridiculous character reappearances would be just as gullible had Tony been blown to pieces by a bomb.
"Sure his body was completely torn apart and his brains were on Kiefer's face... but I didn't see no silent clock, did you? He'll be back next season."

Anyway, more and more dislike this piece of news. Actually, George Mason's clock shot off prematurely. He got silent clocked and then he came back and died in the next episode.

I mean he had got injected with some unknown chemical. his death was also very lame and dumb. I think they realized they screwed that us and that is why they are bringing him back.
