CBS, ABC Beat Golden NBC on Sunday
(Monday, January 17 07:35 AM)
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) Fast National ratings Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005.
Most of Hollywood may have been using the Golden Globes as an excuse to party the night away, but viewers at home were more interested in what was happening with football on CBS and ABC's regular Sunday night lineup.

CBS won the night among households with an 11.9 rating/8 share, while ABC came in second with a 10.3/15. NBC was third with a 10.0/15, followed by FOX, 3.6/5, and The WB, 1.8/3.

Thats pretty bad for the GG IMO,Even the grammy's last year had a higher rating.

That doesn't really shock me.

However, I think their reasoning (At least for the CBS part) is kind of off. The football game ended at around 7:30, and the Golden Globes began at 8. So there couldn't have been tuning in to the games by people while the Globes were on, because the games for the day were already over. It doesn't surprise me though that they lost to ABC with Desperate Housewives and such.

I guess the Golden Globes won't have as much box office effect now, maybe with the Aviator or Million Dollar Baby benefitting only slightly.

Im not surprised since the golden globe candidate movies sucked and had no real appeal. I dont see anything that looks remotely good like American Beauty, Sixth Sense or Gladiator. Everything on the list looks rather artsy so it doesnt look like it will appeal to the taste of most audience
