Three. You're forgetting Reba.
Right now, CW has Sundays and Tuesdays wide open. Mondays only have 1/2 hour filled. They could pick up four new one hour series and three new half hour series and still have room on the schedule for Veronica Mars.

*sigh*
Shame.
Though I know the show's had its ups and downs quality-wise in the last couple seasons, Gilmore Girls has always been, for me, one of the best shows on TV, even if at times my viewing of it was only sporadic.
I'm actually truly sad. I thought it was close a sure thing that it was coming back, even if for only an abbreviated season.

If OTH gets another season, I'm going to laugh. HARD.
I've been even wishing they just end it already. I think now would be a prime time for movie career attempts.
Truth be told 5 months ago my downloading capacities died and I've saved the second half of this season for a dvd purchase next fall, I've been out of the loop for a while and I haven't even checked whether the campaign is back up for risk of being spoiled.

OTH is still considered on the bubble. Unless it costs a crap load to produce, I think it's safe. But it has a very ensemble cast, so it's not that there's one person getting paid a lot and the rest getting less, so it may cost a lot. Plus, every season gets more expensive. CW just doesn't have the shows to fill their hours. The pilot season does not appear to have gone very well for them.

CW is just incredibly pathetic right now... soooo bad.
loyal brought this up last week, but they totally need to call up Whedon/Minear and revisit the Buffyverse in another series. Joss has no more WW and with the comics its obvious he still has stories to tell from that land, Minear has been swimming in flops lately. The network is so bad right now that it would be practically a lock to be pretty much their headlining show. The 2 shows still have zillions of fans and it would bring lots of attention.

The only reason they are canceling it is because none of the main cast wanted to comeback after there contract ended this season. They were already looking for new projects before this.
I'm glad it's ending. I love the Gilmore Girls.

I have the first three seasons on DVD, and plan on watching them whenever I get the other seasons. I actually only watched about a half-dozen episodes, but I liked it when I saw it.
So, 7th Heaven, Reba, Gilmore Girls. Probably two more comedies. That extra hour on Sunday. From what I hear, lackluster pilots. Here's hoping Veronica Mars gets a 4th! I would say Gilmore Girls ending is a HUGE step in the right direction for VM.

I'm wondering if the CW will just show Smallville, wrestling and America's Next Top Model in every hour, because that's all anyone apparently watches from their channel. I mean, I'm not seriously wondering but...

CW has a pilot for a half hour newsmagazine show, like Extra, which rumor has it is slated for 7 on Sundays. They have another half hour reality show that is user content based. I'm betting that will be 7:30 on Sundays. The only pilots that have gotten any buzz are Reaper, Gossip Girls and Wild at Heart. I'm predicting Wild at Heart, a family drama, will be Sundays at 8. None of the comedies have any buzz, but I bet they pick up Eight Days a Week just to have something to put after Chris. The second hour on Monday will probably be drama. I have no idea how they will arrange VM, Reaper and Gossip Girls, but they could even still keep the repeat on Sundays for whatever reason.

I'm mixed. Gilmore Girls is my favorite show of all-time. It's brilliant, or at least was. It has really went downhill the last few seasons. I don't know if it's just me or my TV either, but the color of the show has even gotten really dull looking and grey-like. It used to be so bright and sunny. I've watched because no way in hell would I quit Gilmore Girls, even if they were to get pathetically awful. I kept hoping the quality would pick up after going downhill, but it never did. So on one hand, I'm ok with it ending, because even if it's still amusing and entertaining, it's not what it used to be. The only reason I'm sad is because I can't imagine a life without them and because they won't be able to properly end the show. What I think they should do is, in the future, do a Gilmore Girls movie special or two to be done by the original creators. Ones that can give the fans what they want and leave us with closure. This isn't just any old show and it's been in our lives for a whole seven seasons. Once you start watching these girls they become a part of your life. It's not easy to just say goodbye.
I'm assuming they'll be eligible for the Emmy's for this season, and while they never honored the cast at their best, most amazing, I really, really fucking hope that they'll nominate them (especially Lauren Graham and Kathy Bishop) this time around. It's a crime they haven't before and yet they nominate a bunch of stuff that isn't nearly as worthy. This will be their last chance.
Also, if this is ending, Veronica Mars better be staying on the air. They can't be ending all of the best shows at once, and Veronica is still fresh and kicking ass. It hasn't lost its greatness yet. They need to keep Veronica Mars!

What week is it that networks announce their schedules? CW will probably make us wait until the last minute before we hear the fate of Veronica .

Yeah, CW is not going to announce anymore shows' fates early.

I've heard rumors that Mars, if it stays, is going to undergo a major revamp into a procedural cop show. I don't know if that sounds very good at all.

Well, supposedly if it stays they will have it take place four years into the future, with her being an FBI agent or something? I do think they could pull it off though, and my main concern is that it stays. I am hoping they will decide to just continue where they leave off and not jump into the future, but if they do I'll be on board.

The FBI thing was scrapped. CW is loving the last episodes, so if it is back, it will be the same format.

Which I would love. I was all for the FBI thing, but after seeing Logan, Wallace, Mac, Dick, Keith, and even Piz (although he'll probably be gone by Season 4, with the Grey's Anatomy spin-off), I don't think I could watch a VMFBI and not miss the other characters.
