 Your favourite Friends character
Since Seinfeld was unbearably bad. Heres the thread for those of us under the age of 45.

Really? I think Friends was unbearably bad.
I loathe them all

Yes but you liked SEINFELD. Which was about 50x less interesting and 95x more predictable. Friends' quirky characters and constant intertextual references to pop culture as well as characters we could all identify elements of our own "friends" in the people on screen, and I guess there was a feeling of viewer inclusion in the show that there isn't in so many other comedies. Seinfeld was full of annoying characters. Friends' cast was so different that there was someone for everyone.
Box, you are extremely predictable in your calculated pretentiousness.

The Seinfeld synopsis on IMDB is enough to basically tell you the entire premise of the show in a more revealing way than it should
"The continuing misadventures of neurotic New York stand-up comedian Jerry Seinfeld and his equally neurotic New York friends"
Everyone knows neurotic = whiny and annoying.

I like Seinfeld, but I'm not a huge fan of it. I would definitely put shows like Cheers, MASH, X-Files, Futurama, etc. above it, and The Simpsons to me is without question the greatest show of all time.
Friends, like Will and Grace, is vile, disgusting, and vulgar.

Ok Simpsons and Futurama are both yeses. Cheers, MASH, and to an extent the X-Files are from before my time and im not kidding myself. But I did watch some X files, it was okay. Cheers i use to watch when I skipped school. It was great, it had a really warm feeling.
Friends is the funniest sitcom though. I love Scrubs and find it very funny, but I find that Friends never lets up, even if its a dramatic episode, its always funny.

Chandler is my favourite. I find his style of comedy acting the funniest. He always cracks me up, but doesn't do it in an obvious way. What I mean is that it doesn't look like he is TRYING to be funny. He just is. Joey's character always feels like he is trying to be funny and Ross just annoys me. I like episodes where he isn't the center of attention.
I have no gripes with any of the girls. I love all 3 of them. Chandler is definately my favourite character overall though.
PEACE, Mike.

Come on Felecity... you don't have to put down one show in order to say you like another. I liked both shows, and it's ok if somebody else liked one and not the other... not everybody has to think alike. And, for the record most of the cast of Friends is nearing their 40's. So, it's not like it's a young hip show. Hell, just think... a 13 year old would have just been born when Friends debuted. Perhaps you're getting older (less hip) than you think?
Anyhow, as for the characters... I liked Chandler initially, but he got incredibily wussy after the marriage, and his proposal to Monica was one of the worst moments recorded in TV history. So, I've got to cross him off just for that.
I'm with MikeQ... Ross is annoying. Joey is too one dimensional, although both had their moments. One of my favorite scenes is with Ross trying to put the leather pants on in the bathroom, so the characters are not all bad, but not my favorites.
And it's not Monica. She was a little too bitchy at times to be likeable.
Rachel was hot, but she was involved in all the gooey sucky Ross-Rachel stuff that never stopped.
So that leaves Phoebe. I really liked Phoebe, and thought her character evolved nicely over the 10 seasons. She was a fun character that was rarely caught up in the sappier moments of the show. So, my vote goes to Phoebe Buffet.

Friends is my favorite show, but I also love Seinfeld to death. According to Felicity Titwank, I am not a real person...?
Anyway, I love every character on Friends, but my favorite was probably Phoebe or Chandler.

Am I the only person in the free world that hates both Friends and Seinfeld? I voted for Mariah Carey by the way.

Gunther should have been in the poll.
I would say Chandler... but I didn't really like him in the latter seasons, so Phoebe. (whoo, barnyard animals.)

Love Seinfeld and enjoy Friends... I voted for Rachel because, well, she's hot. That's really the only reason I guess :p

Ross was a great character in the beginning. I hate how the writing with each proceeding season made him dumber and basically a walking punch-line. Nonetheless, I never really liked him as my favorite.
Rachel has REALLY great moments but far from my favorite.
I don't even feel indifferent about Joey, I flat out hate him. He is so dull. In just about every episode his story is the least interesting and the most painful to sit through in repeats.
Monica comes pretty close but she changed alot too from the very beginning to the very end.
Pheobe and Chandler are the king and queen of Friends. They are both so uniquely funny it's so awesome!!
But, I'd definitely go with Chandler as my personal favorite.

Chandler. His brand of humour (in the later seasons, anyway) just appealed to me strongly.
I hated Phoebe.

Chandler was the only character on friends i constantly liked. Ross was interesting in the beginning till they made the suck later but making him all irritating. Joey was better at the end then in the beginning. I never got Phoebe, and Monica and Rachel had their moments.
I honestly stopped watching the show halfway through.

Ross. Initially it was Chandler, then Joey... but as the show progressed David Schwimmer slowly developed into possibly the greatest physical comedy actor of all time, and his sense of comic timing became impeccable.
The "oonagi" episode in particular stands out as a great Ross showcase. And who didn't split their sides laughing when he went on the spray tanning machine.
