I'm surprised that the state of the union address got so high ratings. Does it usually do like that? I thought nobody watched that stuff.

I think because it's live and broadcast simultaneously (that's why Plot added all the Big 4) and that overnights were used (only big markets like L.A. or New York were sampled).

If you separate the ratings into the four individual networks, it's much less impressive: Around a 5.5/9 per network.

And people tune in for the State of the Union address whom normally might not tune in at all.
