I can see the "dullness" from Kris and Jon, but I tend to look at it more like competence and focus. Since I watch the show more for the race than the actual relationship dynamic in the pairs I guess I don't mind a little bit of dullness/nondrama. Especially since there's usually more than a reasonable amount of it with the other teams.

I do wish they would get back to having actual clues though, those were the days.

Final race. \:D/

I'm rooting for the bland white team.

I would like to know how far apart K/J and F/K were, and if that train really hindered Kris and Jon. I doubt it, knowing the editors. It's good to know that if Freddy and Kendra choose to 'breed and breed' they won't have to choose 'poverty' with their million dollar winnings.
Kris and Jon ran a good last two legs, they really should not have just taken the word of the ticket guy at American that theirs was the first flight in, they should have actually asked around. Sure it ended up as only a 5? minute time difference, but in the final leg every bit helps.
I'm sure them getting lost on the way to the Tower didn't help.

As for the third place team, Adam and Rebecca they just couldn't overcome the hour or so defecit that the plane ride got them. That can be attributed to the unlucky Rebecca and that torturous road block with the locks. That would have been hell, but at least she got through it - unlike Hayden. Hell, even Flo didn't quit. That proposal at their elimination was sort of touching, I'm still trying to figure out what Aaron sees in Hayden other than big breasts, but he knows her more than I do - so whatever works for him I suppose.

I liked this season, but that may because I had a team from the near beginning that I was rooting heavily for that actually made it to the end. I had already convinced myself that Kris and Jon weren't going to win so their second place finish, while disappointing, was expected.
For TAR in three weeks I hope the more likable teams are actually good racers and last pretty long in the race. This version had some nice people, but unfortunately they all got eliminated very early.

Until the first of March!

While watching The Early Show, they announced that the season after next, families will be competing in teams of 4 instead of teams of 2. That should be exciting.

For next season, Ramber or Ambert, they will become the team to hate. And I will lead that charge. ](*,)

On last night's show, a bit anti-climatic when you don't care for the final 3 teams. He should have asked for an escort to the park, had he told the officer he was in a race for a million dollars, I'm almost 100% sure the officer would have helped out. Chicago PD are funny like that.

How do you propose without a ring????????????????

All the love for the losing female team members by their guys, the audience certainly doesn't see what these guys see. Those two girls are some of the racist people I've ever seen. By far, two of worst ever to appear on reality tv.

I was shocked the girl from Iowa had to read a map to get around Chicago. Chicago is the destination capital of the midwest, Orlando you might say for Iowians. What should have been an advantage, didn't end up that way.

Gino's East has the best deep dish pizza on the planet, how some of the teams hated it, makes no sense.

Bring on season 7 and less plastic teams.

The Amazing Race is All in the Family
Source: Variety February 9, 2005

CBS has greenlit two more installments of reality series The Amazing Race for next season, but there's a twist, says Variety.

The eighth season of the Bert van Munster/Jerry Bruckheimer-produced "Race" will be an all-family edition, with teams made up of four relatives -- rather than the usual two-person combos -- competing against each other.

Producers are using a liberal definition of "family" to include both classic nuclear clans as well as blended families, cross-generational teams (think grandparents and kids) or even engaged couples with their soon-to-be in-laws.

The ninth season of "Race" will return to the usual two-person team format.

The series' sixth season wrapped Tuesday night and the seventh installment, featuring Survivor veterans Rob Mariano and Amber Brkich, premieres March 1 and runs 9-11 p.m.

Of the four female team members that started this leg of the race the general audience as from what I've read on various message boards and on polls on CBS.com seem not to like Kendra and Hayden, are meh to dislike on Rebecca and love Kris. Freddy did say the Kendra was the perfect soul for him, so that's understandable and Kris and Jon are in the pantheon of teams that were very popular. Along with The Clowns, Jon Vito and Jill and Chip and Kim.

I'm 15 minutes away from Toronto and would need multiple maps getting around that city. Maybe if she was from Chicago then she should have had an advantage, but I'm not seeing where being from a state close to Chicago equals advantage. Hell, Dave and Margarita from TAR were from NYC and didn't beat Rob and Brennan in that last leg, I think Will and Tara were from the SF area and didn't beat Chris and Alex in TAR2 and weren't Colin and Christie from Texas last year? They lost in their home as well.
Where Kris and Jon made an error was in not looking at the map on the train on their way to the clue, instead they were busy giving away stuff from their packs.

That new information regarding TAR 8 leaves me slightly less than enthused. It sounds like something I could see on Discovery Kids.

Good thing you're not on The Amazing Race then.

Point being, congrats to those two on their second place win. But rest assured, I'm sure she's kicking herself for not knowing her way around Chicago. Water Tower, Michigan Ave, there's no excuse.

I'm more impressed with teams who are well-traveled. Nothing is cooler than seeing a team arrive in a foreign country and speak the native language and know their way around. I would think for a million dollars, studying up is a must. And xenophobes need not apply.

I kept feeling that I was on my own with the general dislike of this season's final teams. But when EW made the joke that they didn't know anyone's name, I knew it just wasn't me.

Not that Kris and Jon aren't likeable, it's just that they have little to no personality. And that makes for boring reality tv. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

As for them being in the pantheon of teams, I don't know, maybe for this season alone because all the big personalities left early on and the rest were evil.

I doubt anyone will remember them after a few seasons have passed.

 Indeed, I wouldn't have any advantages whatsoever. I can't even read maps well. Nor can I act like I have a sick child in Honolulu.

I'm sure both Kris and Jon are kicking themselves for not adequately preparing for the next part of the leg on the train. The fault lies with both of them. Kris has an excuse for not knowing how to get get around Chicago - she's not from there. They don't have a good excuse for not looking at a map before hand. I also heard rumours that there was another detour that we didn't get to see in Chicago based on the location of some of the teams and what not. It wouldn't surprise me. Apparently they cut a whole detour out of the TAR5 leg in Canada last year.

Thats a lot of Berlitz courses then. I think a lot of the teams that choose to do the race because they want to see the world, and they haven't before. So its a new experience for them. They don't have the money to go through 4 continents on their own so I can't fault them for not being well travelled or not knowing how to speak fluent Mandarin, German, Norwegian, etc.
Although I would probably be like Colin and at least buy a guide book to the country I just landed in during the race. That was smart racing.

I always considered being nice part of one's personality. They just don't have a....robust personality. But yes they can be boring, I guess I don't mind nice boring. Yay nice boring.

I will agree that perhaps the perception of them being so nice is due to the fact that a lot of the teams weren't, but big personalities? Avi and Joe? Meredith and Maria? A lot of the big personalities made it far, I'd say all of them finished in the top half, with possible exception of Kris and Jon :)

Which unfortunately happens with reality TV. We will remember the trouble makers, the controversial figures, and occasionally the nice winner, but rarely the people who are nice and do pretty good. It's disappointing that most people will remember Jonathan and Victoria from TAR6.

Since I've moved to Iowa from Chicago, I need to take a poll on who knows where Water Tower is.

Boring nice is ok.

I've made the season 7 thread, though it's not stickied yet. Several teams are very well-traveled and fluent in other languages even.

FINALLY. =D> =D> =D>

We can now say a farewell to the stickiness of The Amazing Race 6.

Bring on Season 7!

Oh, and be good to Kris and Jon, wherever they may be right now

Good season. I'm gonna miss some of the people, which is always a sign of a goos show, and I'm looking forward to season 7. (And I'm glad to see the show finally getting ratings closer to what it deserves).

The one I'm starting to dislike is that it's becoming REALLY obvious when the editors do some editing to make it seem as if the race is closer than it actually is (such as the train).

Just watched it...

I really did think Kris & Jon would take it. The editing of the show was totally in their favor. :sigh: (big sigh)

Freddy & Kendra were, indeed, the team I did not want to win. I don't know, something about Freddy still finding Kendra to be "the most perfect person in the world" after some of the stuff she said just rubs me the wrong way.

I was even rooting for Adam & Rebecca to overtake them. And come to think of it, I think I actually ended up liking them by the last leg of the race.

Aaron's marriage proposal was kinda nice. Also kinda funny. And sad. Weird, too. All at once.

Good season, but no where near as fun as last season.

I'm ready for next season.

And, oh yes. One plea for next season:

For just one season (that's all I ask), can we keep the use of the word "baby" to a minimum? I mean, like, less than 5 times per episode. That's all I want.

i know what you mean...i thought that kris and jon were kept behind the train while Freaddy and Kendra were already on the otherside, but far enough down so that they wouldnt have won if the train was there. Thesecond time i watched it I noticed that thet ran over the same tracks. You could hear the train in the background, but that could have been added in
