the final word on this subject (could be):

We all gotta go sooner or later. Just don't think about it too much.

BTW: Showing all their deaths was a bit much, wasn't it?

I also think, though (hehe, sorry, need to talk), that even in its very overt final minutes, it still retained some of the elements that characterized the show as a whole: comedy (Brenda seemingly bored to death by Billy), tragedy (Ruth on her deathbed with the family by her side killed me), and love (David & Keith, Brenda & new husband, Rico & Vanessa).

I'm still thinking about this.

That's how much I loved it.

Rico is basically a bit of a rat. I expected to see him die violently.

Nate's ghost seems to have rescued Brenda and David at the end. In fact, David has a bit of Nate's serenity in the final scene.

The Fisher women are just plain awful. No man of woman born could survive their perpetual misery. It's a miracle the Fisher boys survived.

Really? I found Ruth and Claire rather steady in their respective annoying levels throughout the course of the show.

Nate was the extremely likable good guy, the everyman in seasons one and two, but after Lisa's death, he fell into a pit of dispair and self-pity that he never really seemed to climb out of. He was hard to take in season four but even harder this season, pre-death, especially as his new, happy life with Brenda didn't seem to affect him at all. I mean, I still liked the guy, but good riddance.

And as for David, he was always the most uptight of the bunch, but I'd say he never really grated on me till the carjacking. I think they could have done something with that plotline, maybe have wrapped it up a lot sooner than they did, but his character's persistent nagging was just awful. I do think they concluded who's underneath the red hoodie well, though.

Was Brenda masturbating when she died? Billy should have humped her.

What the hell kind of cruise was Rico and Vanessa on?

I loved how Anthony was gay and Durrell had jungle fever. So clever.

I wonder how George died?

I'll miss this show.

Me too.

It's already gone down as one of - if not my favorite - shows of all-time, though.

You watching Rome, loyal?

I've started watching Season 2, finally. It's been four years (when it started, I guess) since I've watched the first season, so it took me a while. I'm currently through "In the Game" and "Out, Out Brief Candle" and it's great so far. I really hope Season 4 isn't as bad as I've heard.

Season 4 is certainly the show's low point, but it follows that trend of even poo Six Feet Under being pretty good.

I loved season 2, though I thought 3 was the best.

The last 2 or 3 episodes of the show, though (season 5), are just incredible. Just you wait.

Wow, I am really impressed with Season 2, so I can't wait till I see Season 3. I've now also watched "The Plan" and "Driving Mr. Mossback". Both great episodes. I've always liked Frances Conroy, but I didn't think she stood out on the show over anyone else, and thought everyone else was far better. She had a great scene in "The Plan" cursing out the seminar person, and I liked that from her.

"Driving Mr. Mossback" was great, just to see some Nate/Claire interaction for most of the episode.

I just looked up a listing of the season two episodes, and from what I remember, "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" and "I'll Take You" were my favorites.

Just a little FYI, X.

Watched "The Invisible Woman", "In Place of Anger", "Back to the Garden", and "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" (indeed, Dkmuto, a GREAT episode!). I'm really surprised how good this show is, and how poorly I've treated it since its first season. I'm ashamed to be catching up so late, but better late than never.

I did find it humorous that Christine Estabrook guest-starred in "The Invisible Woman", while Harriet Sansom Harris guest-starred in the very next episode. Both played sisters on "Desperate Housewives" last season, as Mrs. Huber and Felicia. Then, the woman who plays Alma Garrett from the show "Deadwood" guest-starred in "Back to the Garden", while W. Earl Brown (also from Deadwood) guest-starred in the following episode.

Zoomed through "Someone Else's Eyes" and "The Secret", and currently finishing "The Liar and the Whore". I have to ask... how many times is Brenda going to cheat on Nate? My GOD! She's the kind of person that causes you to lose trust in everyone, even if she's only a TV character. But, I am glad to see the lovely Molly Parker again (Alma Garrett on "Deadwood"). Still solid episodes all around.

Yeah, you can say that again. Now I'm on "I'll Take You", the second-to-last episode of the season. Just started it and I'll try to finish it tonight, leaving the season finale for tomorrow.

Wow. Within the past 48 hours, I watched every single Season 3 episode. Amazing. I just watched the last episode of the season. I really, really enjoyed this season. I simply cannot begin to imagine why Frances Conroy, Peter Krause, and Lauren Ambrose didn't win Emmys for the show. Maybe Conroy did, I'm not sure. At the very least, Peter Krause should have three Emmys at home for these seasons... well, two. I think the first and second seasons were combined for Emmy consideration, because they both aired within one eligible year.

I hope to get to Season 4 by the weekend.

Glad you've gotten into the show.

I thought the season 3 finale was the show's high point.

And yeah, they should all have Emmys.

Rachel Griffiths and Michael C. Hall also deseve something for their work in season 5. (I'm honestly not even sure if the show's last season is eligible. Season 4 was, though, so I'm thinking so.)

Beware of season 4, though. I mean, it's not terrible, but it's definitely a downer (all the post-Lisa stuff) and kind of blah. I guess I'd compare it to, say, Alias' third season.

But speed through it so you can get to season 5 quick!

Rachel Griffiths is great on the show, but she was like the backstory in Season 3, after being so hateable in Season 2. Michael C. Hall is great also, but if they put him up against Krause, I'd pick Krause.

I've been a little worried about Season 4. I've heard mostly negative stuff so far, but when I finally saw Season 3 of Alias on DVD, it wasn't THAT bad. I hope this is the same situation. I can't wait for Season 5, though. I hate myself for hating that this show got so many nominations at awards shows. It deserved the wins, too! I hope it gets a few for Season 5.

Phew! Marathon run today. Watched four episodes. Not as good as my six episodes in one day marathon a few days ago for Season 3. So, I got through the first four episodes of Season 4. I like it! It's not as bad as I expected, but definitely not as great as Season 2 and 3. It's been four years since I watched Season 1, so I can't remember the quality exactly.

I do have to reiterate that Peter Krause deserves a damn Emmy! He hasn't done too much since the first episode of Season 4, but the last few minutes of the first episode this season were really great. Just watching him break down as he buries Lisa... he deserved an Emmy for Sports Night, and now he deserves one for Six Feet Under.

Hopefully I'll watch the rest Tuesday or Wednesday.

Yeah, despite what I think about the season, I do think Nate taking Lisa's body to the desert and burying it is one of the best scenes of the show's run.

I'm going to miss Dwight from The Office (Arthur on Six Feet Under). Even though he basically plays Dwight on Six Feet Under. Or... since Six Feet Under came first... he plays Arthur on The Office.

Are there any episodes in particular that are good in Season 4, DK? Or... is it just a blah season? I hope I'm done by Wednesday, and can start on Season 5 for the weekend. After that... I'm going to be lost without a good show to watch like Six Feet Under.

You know, I looked over the episode list at HBO.com, and I honestly couldn't find a specific episode that I really liked. I mean, I'm not saying that as in the season outright blew but as in there are some great plotlines dispersed throughout the season, but no episodes really stand out for me (except the first). Do watch out for the episode "That's My Dog," which is incredibly heavy (but kind of not dealt with too well over the rest of the season, IMO. You'll see).

Some plotlines I liked: Brenda and her new boyfriend (played really well by Justin Thoreaux), David's carjacking (the earlier episodes dealing with it), some of Claire's college sexcapades

I had to comment on "That's My Dog". Hard episode to watch. So many times, I just wanted David to beat the crap out of him. I'm interested in seeing where it leads for David, who really should have been nominated for an Emmy for his performance in the episode. They all deserve Emmys!

Bettina!!! I love Kathy Bates. I watched "Terror Starts at Home" and "The Dare". Good episodes, I guess. I get where everyone is coming from with the hate for Season 4. There isn't any noteworthy episodes this season (except "That's My Dog", which I found riveting, even if the plot was better-suited for a movie than Six Feet Under). Everything kind of flows, and nothing stands out. But I still enjoy it so far! I enjoyed Season 3 of Alias more than I thought, and it's the same situation here.

I'm so confused with the Federico/Stripper storyline. I know they had oral sex, but I was still pissed off that Federico's wife, Vanessa, was angry with him for nothing. But, then I realized he kind of did cheat on her, but not to the magnitude that she thinks. They really were friends. Then, he goes and sleeps with her.

I thought one of the crappier plotlines of the season was Keith's whole career difficulty thing, with the security guard thing, then the sex with Celeste thing. Just stupid.

Just watched "Grinding the Corn". I sort of wish they would have played up the carjacking thing a bit more. If that had been me, I'd be traumatized for a long time. It's barely an issue. Little panic attack one episode, pretends he beat the crap out of the carjacker in church (in another dream sequence), and that's it so far.

Funniest lines of the episode came in the same scene with David and Keith.

talking about Keith and Celeste, David says, "Well maybe I've had time to think it through, and it's not digesting well." In return, Keith says "Well take a Tums, why don't ya?"

Another funny line was when David said "I'm taking a shower..", to which Keith replied with "Yeah, well don't blow anybody while you're in there."

Heh, I laughed out loud at both those lines.

Finally finished Season 4! Yeah, it was okay. I didn't have any major problems, but nothing stands out like in previous seasons. My uncle taped all Season 5 episodes, and I hope to get my hands on those episodes soon. After that, I'll be lost without Six Feet Under. :(
