Re: How I Met Your Mother (Season 8)
Excellent finale and the reveal at the end was great. I haven't watched this show live in quite some time (I usually catch up online a few days late due to so much else being on), but the hype got to me and I tuned in tonight. I'm glad I did.

I was really hoping it was going to be Krirsten, would have been an epic turn of events.

Re: How I Met Your Mother (Season 8)
The Facebook Page just posted the picture of the mother and people are crying "SPOILER" since they haven't watched it yet. Well don't get on Facebook if you haven't watched the episode yet.
Still ecstatic about the episode though. I'm guessing (hoping) this means the entire final season will be their story and the finale will probably be their marriage?

Edit: TV Line reports that it's Cristin Milioti, who originated the lead female role on Broadway in Once. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2129662/I was just about to post this. She was amazing in Once and was one of the sweetest, most down to earth people I've ever met. When I heard this news I got SO excited for her. I'll have to watch next season, even though I have never watched an episode of this show before.

Agreed. There's no reason not to.
For all its ups and downs, HIMYM is one of my favorite shows of all time. It really did become my replacement for Friends.

Re: How I Met Your Mother (Season 8)
Same as being one of my favorites of all time. Although the show did have a couple odd points throughtout the season, there was just as much classic HIMYM attached along the way.
Also Bays & Thomas known how to wrap things up which made the finale great outside of just seeing the mother because it made sense of a lot of the season's big questions.

Robin is way hotter. Ted is still settling. Looks like the entire final season will take place over one weekend. Great idea to spice things up and go out with a bang.

Just because someone is less attractive, doesn't mean that someone is settling, lol.

I really don't see how they can do 22 episodes for essentially no more than 3 days worth of action. I honestly think the wedding should be at most half a season. Who knows though Bays & Thomas know what their doing.

Re: How I Met Your Mother (Season 8)
Good god, half the season. Should be 2 episodes at most. Maybe 1 for before the wedding and honeymoon. This would be the ideal way to end the final season, and not make the last two seasons feel so pointless.
1 Pre Wedding (Ted and Robin finally have closure) 2 and 3 Wedding (Like Lily and Marshall's two episodes doing different things, and I hope they get John Lithgow and Wayne Brady in it) 4. Ted at the Train station 5. Missed Connections (Every time throughout the series, they almost met) 6. Barney and Robin's Honeymoon (The most Awesome Honeymoon ever) 7. Marshall and Lily fighting over Rome and NYC 8. Marshall's first trial as a Judge 9. Barney and Robin figuring out what to do for kids (Shows Barney finally settling down, since Robin can't, maybe they try to adopt an asian baby) 10 and 11. The final Slap Bet and Robin Sparkles video (Since the last one saw her on a major decline, they twist that she did a softcore porn video, ultimately revealing Barney won the Slap Bet and exacts revenge on Marshall) 12. An entire episode that takes place in the future. I'd love to see all of them in their old makeup, and actual interaction with Ted's kids 13-15 Ted knowing the mother is the one. Maybe a proposal. Maybe so against the norms of Ted, they fast track everything and finish the series with his wedding.
The rest would just be filler. And I'm sure they could all overlap somehow. I'm still not entirely convinced they won't end the series on the train station when Ted actually talks to her for the first time.

Re: How I Met Your Mother (Season 8)
The more I read about next season though, the more I like the idea of it being the wedding weekend. Supposedly the rest of the cast meets The Mother before Ted and the show will emphasize these interactions. Plus, I think they've hinted at flashbacks and flashforwards happening so it might not be so bad afterall.

It also changes the format of the show drastically. I think the wife overtaking the entire series will alienate a lot of people

Re: How I Met Your Mother (Season 8)
I mean yeah its going to be weird particularly not having the McLaren's scenes as often (though I have a feeling flashforwards may center themselves there), but it stills leaves a lot of interesting stuff to happen.
Plus, considering all that was cliffhanged in the season finale, there is plenty of material to go off of even before the actual wedding ceremony.
I know there is speculation going around which says the mother might take over as narrator which might be interesting as well but may work better if they mix it between her and Ted.
It was also be funny/nice to see Bob Saget show up sometime next season.

Re: How I Met Your Mother (Season 8)
I actually really like the creative conceit of season 9 taking place entirely around Barney and Robin's wedding. It'll be a challenge but if it works, I feel like everyone will remember the last season fondly.
It also gives time to develop The Mother.

Re: How I Met Your Mother (Season 8)
See I think that is the biggest thing, the mother is not what the series is about. She is unimportant in almost every way. She shouldn't be developed, let alone be the focal point of a season. Zoey and Victoria were already amazing choices for Ted, even Robin, but her relationship with Barney was better than anything ever was with Ted, but writing made it otherwise.
I feel the more they try to force the mother down our throats, the more people will hate the final season.

Re: How I Met Your Mother (Season 8)
I like the idea of the last season. But I don't like if they overdevelop the mother character. People don't need to like her. If they keep interactions between the mother and the rest of the cast to minimum I think the ninth season could be a great one as I really think that the wedding weekend idea is really cool and HIMYM could pull it off brilliantly.

Umm... They do need people to like the mother, or else what the hell was the point of the show?

Re: How I Met Your Mother (Season 8)
So we can find out how their father met their mother? I mean the show is named How I Met Your Mother, not I'll Tell You What's Your Mother Like. We don't need to really now what she's like. I've been saying it for years that I do not want the show to go deeper into the mother character. I want the last scene to be Ted meeting the mother. That's it. The end. A perfect meeting scene that the show has been building up for years.
