Actually the more I think about it... I think the hatch will be very closely connected to why they crashes. I think in it will be things that relate to every survivor making them really question if this was all a mistake, fate, or if everything really does happen for a reason (the theme of season 2 as the promos suggest).

It wouldn't really bother me if/when Locke dies, he basically caused Boone's death by not sticking around and giving an accurate account of what happened so Boone could be treated properly.

Doesn't change the fact that he is one of the more interesting characters on the island.

The casting of Terry O'Quinn (who will likely win an Emmy) as Locke was yet another stroke of genius. All of the actors were selected as much for their previous roles as for their sheer talent. O'Quinn usually plays villains... but not THIS time. It's pretty obvious who the bad guy(s) is/are, don't you think.
The hatch obviously leads to the underground facility were the experiments are being conducted.
BTW: Has anyone actually come out and said that this is a sci-fi show?

The most interesting!
Or maybe I should say most fascinating because I find the Korean couple vastly interesting as well; however, their lives and secrets have for the most part been revealed! The one person we really know the least about is John Locke...
His two episodes centered around what he was doing in Australia and a totally random episode in his life concerning his biological father (unless that event has a significance yet to be revealed in Season 2). We know what he did, so to say. But who is he? How was he paralyzed?
We know all about Charlie... has been rockstar.
We know all about Kate... runaway convict (almost all her life)
We know all about Micheal and Walt... estranged father and son re-united after death of mother
We know all about Sawyer... parents killed when a child, trying to sweet-talk his way through life while seeking revenge
We know all about Jack... a doctor who has daddy issues
We know all about Hurley... really just some guy living with his mom until he wins the lottery (nothing interesting until the numbers came into play)
We know all about the Korean couple... unless they each have a shady past before they met (which doesn't look likely)
We know all about Shannon... spoiled brat conning family for money
We know all about Sayid... previously faught in the gulf war (actually he was a communications officer) and now looking for a lost love
We know all about Claire... young mother who was going to give up her baby!
But who is John Locke???

But we do know quite a bit about him already though. Maybe moreso than some of the others. He lost the use of his legs 4 years earlier; Works for a box company; Got swindled out of a kidney, Was raised in a foster home. The only thing we really need to know about him is How he was paralysed, and what he saw.
And a question - In the ep. where He and Boone found the plane, did he actually lose the use of his legs? Or was he putting it on?
I found the Pregnant girls story a little intriguing, with the psychic. . . . . . . . . .

So did I. But I believe that was the only Claire flashback we received.. I really wanted more. Her story was interesting.

The makers of the show themselves came out and admitted it was a sci-fi show.

I am so tepmted. I actually clicked on the link. But then I realized that all the twists and the anticipation is what actually made Lost for me, so I didn't read it.

Did anyone here buy or rent the Lost season 1 dvd? If so, I'm sure we'd all like to hear opinions on the extras.

Yep, I bought it. It's awesome!
The extra features are divided into three sections...
One has all this stuff about basicaly getting Lost started. The genesis of Lost (how the idea came and evolved into what it is), Getting the Actors (audition tapes for every actor except O'Quinn), Making the disaster set and filming the pilot, and alot of other stuff.
I don't quite remember what the second part focused on. (I'll have to pop in the DVD and see). I'll give a better and more elaborate explanation a bit later on.
The third part was some deleted scenes, flashbacks, and other goodies!
Alot of people, including me, opened their DVD box sets and realized that it didn't come with a booklet guide for which there is a sleeve (where it should be)!!!! So, I called a number and they're mailing it

They killed Ethan. And Danielle was on the beach with them, not on the boat. When that happened on the boat, Charlie was chasing Danielle to bring Claire's baby back. And Danielle killed all the people on her team.

Lost is back in fine form. Loved the cliffhanger. Would have liked to see what happened on the raft though.

Is that a good 'oh my god', or a bad 'oh my god', because mine is bad.

It was a good one, for me.
I mean...I guess I was a bit disappointed they didn't show any of the raft people, but I'm terribly intrigued about Desmond.

I agree that Desmond has possibilities, but I think his reveal was lessened by its predictability. As soon as he was introduced in the tour le stade I figured out that it was he in the hatch. Agree with you on the disappointment on the follow through with the raft, instead we get Shannon running around for Vincent and seeing Walt, which looks to be another mystery we'll wait for 10 or so episodes to be expounded on further. The plus side: I didn't hate Charlie...all that much, downside - I wanted Locke to kill Jack no fewer than 10 minutes into the show.

Very good episode.
I guess most people still haven't been able to get into the site yet. Weird.
