That was a great scene but I saw it coming weeks before it.
I think the best Alias scene in all its run is the birth. When she says, "Dad... dad... I can't do this" The way she says "dad" and the way Garber returns with "Sydney, yes you can!" was just priceless.
And the scene preceding that should be considered with it. It's the one I posted in the FYC thread. The dialogue delivered by Irina defines the the show.

I really think the show could of used the full 22 episodes. The last episode was very fitting and it had to resolve 100 plots in a very short time. I am really glad the show exist in my life. I know i can slip in an episode and feel the presence of greatness.

I finally watched all of season 5 on DVD. I made it through the last 10 episodes in record time as I was glued to my seat, especially over the last 5 (or so) episodes. I'm glad I watched it on DVD for the instant gratification, instead of having to wait a week between shows.
Anyhow, my take on the season:
I wasn't that hot on the first 7 (or so) episodes. I didn't like pregnant Sydney or them bringing in two female characters to take her place for the action (Rachel and that French girl). Then they temporarily killed of Vaughn and brought in a substitute, Tom. There were times where it barely felt like Alias and I lost interest a bit. It wasn't as bad as season 3, but I wasn't feeling it either.
Luckily I stayed with it, as it started to get a lot better when she had the baby (she returned to form) and then they started dusting off all the old cast members... Will, Francie, Irina, Anna, evil Sloane... and Rimbaldi. It felt like Alias again and it was as good as the series had ever been since the 2nd season. I liked the cliff hanger endings and it kept me hopping from show to show... I actually watched 4 in one night, and that's really rare for me to sit that long.
With that being said, by the time the finale was over it just confirmed what I thought all along... JJ Abrams never had a clue with where he was going with the show and was winging it all along. The whole Rimbaldi thing doesn't add up much in the end, and it was clear they didn't have an endgame in mind when they started on that path.
That was probably my only beef though... it was a fitting end to the series. I was a bit bummed they killed off Jack, but what a fitting ending for Sloane! Ditto for Irina. It also ties it up nicely knowing that Sydney is not going to be manipulated by any of these people again.
My final rankings of the seasons:
#1. Season 1 - a magical season... one of the best seasons of any series ever.
#2. Season 2 - another great season. Not as fresh as season 1, but a stronger cast.
#3. Season 5 - weak start, great finish. The strong finish propels it a hair above season 4.
#4. Season 4 - not great, but solid season. I thought it was more consistant from front to back than season 5, and it set the series back on the right track.
#5. Season 3 - A train wreck of a season in my book. Unfortunately, it made me quit watching the show as they were airing on TV. I watched seasons 4 and 5 on DVD after this one.
