 Re: Renewed/Canceled 2008-2009
King of the Hill may not be dead yet. http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117995191.htmlQuote: Reports of "King of the Hill’s" dethronement may have been premature.
At least one network has expressed interest in "King," which was handed its pinkslip just last week by Fox.
The suitor is believed to be ABC, as "King of the Hill" would make a strong companion to the net’s upcoming animated comedy "The Goode Family," which comes from "King of the Hill" exec producers Mike Judge, John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky.
A "King of the Hill" pickup would give ABC a well-known franchise to bolster the chances for "Goode Family." It’s a de facto network scheduling rule, learned at Fox through years of trial and error, that animated half-hours fit best with other animated half-hours.
Fox’s decision not to order any new episodes of "King of the Hill," meanwhile, came just three days before the animated laffer posted its best ratings in a year, averaging a 4.3 rating/10 share in adults 18-49 on Sunday night.
Still, network insiders said Fox won’t likely change its mind on the cancellation. Net execs are looking to freshen up their animated stable, and after 260 episodes, they believed "King of the Hill" was ready for retirement.
Other potential homes for the toon include Comedy Central, FX and Cartoon Network. But the show, which would be entering its 14th season, is believed to be too expensive for a cabler at this point in its run.
If another network picks up "King of the Hill," there’s a remote possibility the show could wind up airing on two nets at once, as Fox’s stockpile of original "King" episodes will keep the show on that net through next fall. It’s expected, however, that whichever network purchases the show would wait for the Fox broadcast window to conclude.
Given the lengthy lead time on animated projects, the 14th season of "King" probably wouldn’t be available to ABC until late 2009 or early 2010. The Alphabet web could always purchase leftover segs from Fox should the network decide to part ways with the show at the end of this season.
Whatever the case, "King of the Hill" could very well become the primetime series that couldn’t be killed. The show has already been halted and revived in the past  which is why its producers have never written a series finale.

 Re: Renewed/Canceled 2008-2009
It actually surprises me that King of the Hill has been on this long.
It doesn't surprise me that the King demise might not be so. It really can't be killed. It just keeps coming back, again and again. Not that I'm complaining. I've always liked it. I haven't watched in a few seasons, but it's always been consistent and never went The Simpsons route.
FOX is smart though. The Simpsons is untouchable, while Family Guy and American Dad are still young and fresh compared to the veteran toons. If they want to shake things up and add to their Sunday lineup, King of the Hill had to go. Meanwhile, ABC is fast-becoming the sloppy seconds network. First Scrubs, now King of the Hill (potentially, if they do pick it up, or if FOX doesn't cave and announce it'll be back on their schedule by 2010). Where was ABC when Harsh Realm, Veronica Mars and Arrested Development were kicked to the curb?

When did ABC become such a crap network? They haven't had a good 30-minute show in what seems like forever.

 Re: Renewed/Canceled 2008-2009
ABC is acting like they don't depend on five year old shows and are in no trouble whatsoever.
First - they've pulled the plug on the midseason comedy Single with Parents tha starred Alyssa Milano.
Then they cut the number of episode orders for The Castle and The Unusuals for both shows from 13 to 10.

Huh.
I made a point to not get too excited by Dollhouse, and I fully intend to watch and all, but this is exactly what I figured would happen so I'm not really that surprised or devastated.
I really don't see Joss working with Fox again any time soon, or at all, after Dollhouse is cancelled three episodes in (maybe we'll be lucky and get four).

 Re: Renewed/Canceled 2008-2009
Too bad but not exactly surprising for both Terminator and Dollhouse, which has been having problems almost since its inception (no pun intended given the show's premise). Hopefully, at least Terminator makes it through the season. It should be helped by the fact that the order has already been given. Starting on Friday, February 13 is a bad idea though.
What happens to Terminator in the interim then between when it moves to Friday and 24 comes back to Monday to air with Prison Break I assume? What about January for Terminator?

 Re: Renewed/Canceled 2008-2009
I would assume Terminator will be on hiatus between that period. Might air its last episode in December before the Feb 13th re-launch.
I kind of wish FOX would've kept their word about Bones and moved it to Fridays, then moved Terminator to Wednesdays, post-Idol. The Bones folks probably would've followed it and it may have helped Dollhouse. Pairing Dollhouse with a completely unproven show is pointless. Who makes these decisions anyway? Am I the only one who can make better timeslot decisions than FOX? I hate to break it to them, but like House, Bones ain't gonna gain a significant amount of viewers with Idol. It'll go up sure, but the show won't expand beyond its 9-10 million when it returns next September.

Life got a full season order. The one for Lipstick Jungle should come any day now, I guess. NBC seems like its only competition is CW.

Is Prison Break ending midseason because it is not on Fox's midseason schedule from what I've seen on tv.com?

They still have shows/pilots slotted for March/April. Just remember that Fox has like 3 or 4 schedules per season. They don't have a midseason per se.

 Re: Renewed/Canceled 2008-2009
That was a long time coming for Lipstick Jungle. My Own Worst Enemy isn't surprising either, but I'm a little surprised NBC didn't try to move it or anything. I never watched it though so I don't really care. I'm glad Life got picked up though. I think I mentioned this somewhere on here before, but I wonder if they would try it in the 10pm slot on Thursday next year once ER is done.
As for MadTV, I was never a big fan of the show, but I'd say their first few years on the air were borderline good. But with SNL on, even when it was shitty, I'd always prefer it to MadTV especially after Will Sasso and that group left. And I guess Michael McDonald truly was the only thing keeping that show going. A few episodes after he leaves, it's immediately cancelled. It had a good run though. Probably eight years longer than the run had to be, but still a good run.
