Best Actress in a Comedy
Marcia Cross, Desperate Housewives
Teri Hatcher, Desperate Housewives
Felicity Huffman, Desperate Housewives
Patricia Heaton, Everybody Loves Raymond
Jane Kaczmarek, Malcolm in the Middle

If I Chose the Winner: It's a continuous question when people hear about Malcolm in the Middle: is that show still on? Jane Kaczmarek was my frontrunner for two or three seasons, but now it's a lost cause. I highly doubt the Emmys will reward her for a show that no one watches anymore. No Heaton for me. Huffman is great in her desperate role, but I feel the race for me and for the Emmys is between more dramatic Marcia Cross (her comedy is superb, though), and the more comedy-prone Teri Hatcher. My pick? Marcia, Marcia, Marcia Cross, Desperate Housewives.

Emmy's Choice: I can basically repeat what I said for my choice for a winner, but I won't. Kaczmarek's time is long gone, and I think Heaton probably has an outside shot at winning, if Emmys feel like rewarding Raymond for the final season. Huffman is good, but not award-material, so again, it's between Hatcher and Cross, and I believe the Emmys will go against the Golden Globes and Screen Actor's Guild Awards, and give Cross her Emmy. Marcia Cross, Desperate Housewives

Who Should Have Been Left Off the Ballot: Jane Kaczmarek, Malcolm...

Who Was Overlooked: Eva Longoria, Desperate Housewives (I love her on the show, and think she's got great comedic timing, and hilarious reactions to whatever is thrown at her. Eva's time WILL come.)

Best Actor in a Drama
James Spader, Boston Legal
Ian McShane, Deadwood
Hugh Laurie, House
Hank Azaria, Huff
Kiefer Sutherland, 24

If I Chose the Winner: Wow, a three-way race between Ian McShane, Kiefer Sutherland, and Hugh Laurie. These three literally carry their shows on their own shoulders, and even without them, "24", "Deadwood" and "House" are all excellent dramas. But, in the end, I'm too much of a Kiefer fan to not hope he wins this Sunday, because he truly had an incredible season on "24". Kiefer Sutherland, 24

Emmy's Choice: Azaria is that longshot who may creep up and win the award on Sunday, and to a far lesser extent, Spader is also a longshot. It's another three-way race for the win. Hugh Laurie is fresh on everyone's mind with the superb House returning this past Tuesday for its sophomore season, and much like Michael Chiklis a few years ago for The Shield, Hugh Laurie's acting nomination is one of the VERY few nominations for the series. Deadwood is a show that deserves more attention, even if it has already won five Emmys last week. However, I can't help but think that the Emmys are rewarding Deadwood in smaller places, as opposed to giving the show any of the big awards. This leaves Kiefer Sutherland for "24". And yet, when I get to Kiefer, I don't see the voters waking up and seeing his performance for what it is: the best of the year in television. Sure, it's only my humble opinion, but it still counts. I guess I'll go for the underdog, and say Dr. House will get a win. Hugh Laurie, House

Who Should've Been Left Off the Ballot: Hank Azaria, Huff (Nothing against the show, but I feel someone should fit the bill.)

Who Was Overlooked: Where do I start? Denis Leary for Rescue Me, Matthew Fox for Lost, Timothy Olyphant for Deadwood, Julian McMahon for Nip/Tuck, Dylan Walsh for Nip/Tuck, Michael Chiklis for The Shield... quite a list.

Best Actress in a Drama
Jennifer Garner, Alias
Mariska Hargitay, Law & Order: SVU
Patricia Arquette, Medium
Glenn Close, The Shield
Frances Conroy, Six Feet Under

If I Chose the Winner: I've never been impressed by Mariska Hargitay on Law and Order: SVU, and that probably stems from my dissatisfaction with the Law and Order spin-off. I realize she's loved by TV award voters, but I don't get it. I didn't see Glenn Close on The Shield this season, and I'm not sure what to say about her one-season stint. I haven't seen Six Feet Under in years, and I never got into Medium. Let's leave it at the obvious for my pick. Jennifer Garner, Alias

Emmy's Choice: Give the pregnant girl an Emmy? Probably not. She might be able to "Garner" a surprise win, but the race is still far too "Close" to call. I'm funny. Arquette is a surprise nomination, and I'm always scared about these nominations for shows that don't get much nominations elsewhere on the ballots, so I see it as their way of saying "this person carries the show, and deserves an award". The frontrunner in my eyes is Glenn Close, especially since the Emmys won't be able to jump up for joy and nominate her next season, if this was just a one-shot deal. Glenn Close, The Shield

Who Should've Been Left Off the Ballot: Frances Conroy, Six Feet Under (Great actress, forgotten series.)

Who Was Overlooked: Kristen Bell, Veronica Mars (Amazing. Simply amazing. I say she rivals Jennifer Garner for my favorite actress on television last season, for such an incredible performance on an incredible series.)

Best Comedy
Arrested Development
Desperate Housewives
Everybody Loves Raymond
Scrubs
Will & Grace

If I Chose the Winner: I will repeat myself YET AGAIN, and tell you all that I have never been a fan of Everybody Loves Raymond, and I've stated my reasons numerous times. Will & Grace was a passable sitcom for two, maybe three seasons, but it has fell into a rut in recent years, and I can't watch the show without cringing. The Ladies of Wisteria Lane, The Bluth Family, and the Doctors of Sacred Heart are some of my favorite characters of TV Comedy, so it's really difficult to choose a winner. Because I fell out of touch with Scrubs this season, and because I think Housewives is a true dramedy, and doesn't have enough to merit a Comedy win, I'll pick Arrested Development as my hope to win. Arrested Development

Emmy's Choice: Not much explanation needed: Desperate Housewives has FAR too much buzz to pass it up right now. I would personally love another "Get Out of Jail Free Card" for Arrested Development, or even a first for Scrubs, but Wisteria Lane will be enjoying an Emmy win for Best Comedy, come Sunday night. Don't get me started on Raymond and Will & Grace AGAIN. Desperate Housewives

Who Should've Been Left Off the Ballot: Will & Grace

Who Was Overlooked: Gilmore Girls

Best Drama
Deadwood
Lost
Six Feet Under
24
The West Wing

If I Chose the Winner: Damn three-way races. I love 24, Lost and Deadwood, and while I can honestly say that Lost is a great show, it has a few misfires here and there that don't help it in my books. Deadwood is all-around good, but 24 didn't miss a beat for me this season, and I'm convinced this was the best year yet for the drama. 24

Emmy's Choice: I love Deadwood, and hate that it doesn't get enough recognition by viewers. It won five Emmys this past Sunday, and I think it stands a good chance to win. The only thing holding it back is its inability at connecting with the mass audience. The Sopranos wins because it gets over 10 million viewers a season. Deadwood is less-known, and like Six Feet Under's early years, it might be critically acclaimed, but it's a tough, tough sell. 24 is coming off an excellent season, with its best ratings yet. Why not reward the show at its highest in popularity? Because it's an action-drama? Please. Same goes for Lost as a sci-fi drama, and Deadwood as a western drama. The genres are so out there for Emmy voters, that I fear another win for The West Wing. The only thing helping the situation is the fact that even the critics who gushed over it in its first years are starting to get annoyed with the series. And, Six Feet Under is off the map altogether. I bet its last season will barely get recognized next year. I'll go with buzz again. Lost

Who Should've Been Left Off the Ballot: The West Wing (Enough already. Although, I'm interested to see if Alan Alda will be on the show, and not Jimmy Smits. That I might watch. I love Alda.

Who Was Overlooked: More choices! Frontrunner is Veronica Mars, along with Rescue Me and Nip/Tuck.

I'll put up my predictions pretty soon, but I have to say one thing...

If Denis LEary doesn't get nominated next year for Rescue Me I will lose all hope in the Emmy's.
The show was robbed BLIND of countless nominations. FX can deliver but the Emmy's can't!

It's like Mr. X read my mind on my Who Should/Who Will Win...

But I do have to add the weird shut-out Arrested Development got at the Creative Emmys. I think it could score some major acting (and the writing) awards, if not an upset for the Best Comedy. The Emmys RARELY have a series sweep a lot of technicals and televised awards. Few exceptions, recently, are Angels in America, The West Wing (on its first season, when it won 9 awards overall - the current record-holder for most wins in a season), and way back, Hill Street Blues.

The X-Files, The Sopranos and 24 (possibly Deadwood this year) are some series that won a lot of technicals yet failed to win Best Drama. 24 won 4 technicals last year, the same number as Lost and Housewives. The West Wing won Best Drama over The Sopranos lots of times

With that, if the trend continues, I should expect SOME upsets this year. Eventhough I am fairly certain now of a Lost/Housewives/ABC victory.

This will basically be in the same format as MR. X's...

Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy
Conchata Ferrell, Two and a Half Men
Megan Mullally, Will & Grace
Doris Roberts, Everybody Loves Raymond
Holland Taylor, Two and a Half Men
Jessica Walter, Arrested Development

Who should win (my pick): don't watch Two and half Men. I love Megan Mullally but enough is enough for Will and Grace, even its best actress. If Doris Roberts wins one more time.... That leaves the lovely Jessica Walter, Arrested Devlopment!

Who will win (prediction): Megan Mullally and Will and Grace is just done with. Their last hope at anything will be next year for their final season! The two women from Two and a half Men don't have enough buzz and will cancel each other out. That leaves Doris roberts and Jessica Walter. I think it will go to Jessica Walter unless (and there is a great possibility) Doris roberts upsets for a umteenth consecutive time!

Snubbed: Nicolette Sheriden, Desperate Housewives and Harriot Samson Harris, Desperate Housewives

Best Actress in a Comedy
Marcia Cross, Desperate Housewives
Teri Hatcher, Desperate Housewives
Felicity Huffman, Desperate Housewives
Patricia Heaton, Everybody Loves Raymond
Jane Kaczmarek, Malcolm in the Middle

Who should win (my pick): This is a good category for me because if I haven't seen the shows all season I am still familiar with the work of all the actresses on the list. I agree with Mr. X on Jane Kaczmarek and how she's a lost cause. I don't know what they plan to do with her and all these nominations; it feels like she's just a slot filler. Then again, with all their love for Will and Grace, they could have nominated Debrah Messing. I've always been a fan of Patricia Heaton but she's got hers, so let's move on to the dirty housewives. All three are actually very very good (yes, Huffman too, she's really good). I prefer Huffman and Cross to Hatcher only because they are 2 most grounded-in-reality characters; their storylines and lives are the most believable. I think Terri is great, I really do... but she hogs too much of the spotlight and there is enough time for the wheel to go around all the housewives and she's already gotten some trophies this year: No brainer for me: Marcia Cross, Desperate Housewives

Who will win (prediction): Kaczmarek and Heaton chances are same as my personal views (in the para above). Jane is just sitting pretty at #5 and unless Raymond sweeps, Heaton is out of the running this her final year. Felicity Huffman has alot more industry cred than alot of viewers or spectators believe; but even so, this is not her year (her character seems to be the most dynamic-becoming from season 1 to season 2, so shell always have plenty to do). For the longest time I have given in that Teri will walk away with the award while my beloved and oh-so-deserving Marcia will be robbed! But very recently, my gut has been telling me that their is goodness in the world and maybe, just this once, it will strike the Emmy's! So for now... Marcia Cross, though I'm still fairly certain I will be screaming at the TV when the name is read.

Snubbed: Eva Longoria, Desperate Housewives (at least in place of Jane!)

Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy
Peter Boyle, Everybody Loves Raymond
Brad Garrett, Everybody Loves Raymond
Sean Hayes, Will & Grace
Jeremy Piven, Entourage
Jeffrey Tambor, Arrested Development

Who should win (my pick): Peter Boyle, Everybody Loves Raymond (Jeffrey Tambor is the only one that should even briefly be mentioned other than Boyle)
Who will win: Peter Boyle, Everybody Loves Raymond (Impossible to imagine they have gone this long without awarding possibly the dunniest and actually the best actor/actress on the show. Doris Roberts is so completely overrated!)

Snubbed: Tony Hale and David Cross, Arrested Devlopment

Best Actor in a Comedy
Jason Bateman, Arrested Development
Zach Braff, Scrubs
Eric McCormack, Will & Grace
Ray Romano, Everybody Loves Raymond
Tony Shalhoub, Monk

Who should win (my pick): Zach Braff, Scrubs (Jason Bateman would be second on my list). I have started to catch on to Raymond in repeats over the past 2 years or so and I do think it's a pretty darn funny and great show, but I absolutely loathe Ray Romano. Eric McCormack is just too dull and too much of the same. I don't watch Monk but I know Shalhoub is really good; but, he did get his already, so...

Who will win (prediction): Tough category. I'd place Ray out of the running if he had at least 2 under his belt but he doesn't and it's been a while since he's won. However, I'd still place the race between Braff and Bateman. Winner: Jason Bateman, Arrested Development because if they can't award the show this year they might as well start handing out acting trophies.

Snubbed: Can't think of anyone! I don't watch comedy anymore!

Best Supporting Actor in a Drama
Alan Alda, The West Wing
Naveen Andrews, Lost
Terry O'Quinn, Lost
Oliver Platt, Huff
William Shatner, Boston Legal

Who will win (my pick): Don't watch Huff or West Wing. Never really fancied Shatner; think he's good, but not that great. There couldn't be a more obvious choice for me; the best actor on his respective show: Terry O'Quinn, Lost

Who will win (prediction): Shatner could be a player in years to come but don't think they'll give him this one just yet (his win last season was for his guest stint on The Practice). I don't think Platt has a chance; he's just in for the Huff ride. the more I think about it, the more I realize Terry O'Quinn just isn't what the Emmy voters would ever go for (I"m beginning to get suprised that he was nominated). For some odd reason (which I will never understand) some critics and the public seem to think Naveen Andrews is the best thing about Lost. He doesn't have enough support to win though and anything he gets will be cancelled out with Locke's votes. That leaves only one choice and I'm pretty damn sure about it: Alan Alda, The West Wing.

Snubbed: Victor Garber, Alias

Best Actor in a Drama
James Spader, Boston Legal
Ian McShane, Deadwood
Hugh Laurie, House
Hank Azaria, Huff
Kiefer Sutherland, 24

Who should win (my pick): I have probably seen a couple of episodes of Boston Legal and maybe 3 (tops) of House and that's all the acting I have seen from this category. so, this won't be long. I've always liked Hank Azaria, but hard to imagine him in a serious role (if the show really is drama). James Spader is always great, but I think 2 in a row is overdoing it (he wasn't THAT great). I haven't seen any of Ian McShane's work so I can't judge (though I hear he is absolutely amazing). So, it comes down to Kiefer and Hugh. I never jumped into the 24 bandwagon, but I do admire the show's loyal fanbase and the fact that they've kept this original series alive this long, while still pleasing and blowing away both critics and viewers. I will, however, go with Hugh Laurie, House, if anything... just the fact that he's the underdog and does indeed carry the show on his shoulders!

Who will win (predictions): This one is really tough. I don't think Azaria has a chance. Kiefer's turn hasn't come up yet, but I think they are definitely going to award either him or the show itself (I don't think both will happen, even in non-concurrent years) before it's over. I really don't think they'll give it to Spader for a second year in a row (though it's a different show, everyone knows it's the same show basically). I think it's down to Laurie and McShane. I'm giving the edge to Ian McShane, Deadwood only because I have a strong feeling Lost will win Drama and this will be their way of giving the show at least something big (and that will take care of awarding it in a big category for quite some time).

Snubbed: Oh wow. Don't get me started because I'll blow the roof. Denis Leary, Rescue Me, Denis Leary, Rescue Me, and Denis Leary, Rescue Me (Dylan and Julian from ip/Tuck did give in some stellar performances too!)

Best Supporting Actress in a Drama
Stockard Channing, The West Wing
Tyne Daly, Judging Amy
Blythe Danner, Huff
Sandra Oh, Grey's Anatomy
CCH Pounder, The Shield

Who should win (my pick): West Wing: No... Judging Amy: No... don't watch em and don't want to! I don't know who CCH Pounder is and although I might pick BlytheDanner, I don't have the means to watch Huff.. so my choice, by process of elimination (and not really wanting to choose her) is Sandra Oh, Grey's anatomy.

Who Will win (prediction): I don't think Pounder will get much votes at all considering Glenn Close will take up the Shield spotlight this year. I don't think Channing or Daly will win (haven't they both won before)... that or they just don't have enough buzz or any at all from what I hear and know (which, actually, isn't alot for TV, lol). That leaves Sandrah Oh and Blythe Danner. I'm really torn and don't know which one to pick. Toss up... Danner, Huff or Oh, Anatomy

Snubbed: Yunjim Kim, Lost and Evangeline Lilly, Lost (considering she has no acting background this is a very impressive delivery for her).

Best Actress in a Drama
Jennifer Garner, Alias
Mariska Hargitay, Law & Order: SVU
Patricia Arquette, Medium
Glenn Close, The Shield
Frances Conroy, Six Feet Under

Who should win (my pick): Don't watch Six Feet Under, Law And Order "Place spin-off number here", Medium, or The Shield... haven't seen a single episode from either of em. I don't think her performance in this season's Alias was as groundbreaking or significantly better than before, but for God's sake give this woman her triphy. She works hard and really deserves it by now. Jennifer Garner, Alias

Who will win (prediction): I really can't say with too much certainty but I am going with Glenn Close, The Shield. Sorry, I don't have any arguments either way for anyone else, cuz I simply don't know better about their performances.

Snubbed: I think Jolie Richardson from Nip/Tuck is one of today's most underrated drama actresses. She's worthy of at least a nomination. she shined in the first season and kept it going in the second. Christine Lahti, Jack and Bobby

Best Comedy
Arrested Development
Desperate Housewives
Everybody Loves Raymond
Scrubs
Will & Grace

Who should win (my pick): I know Desperate Housewives is really cheating by going under comedy, but you know what, it's too damn good a show to pass up. Desperate Housewives.

Who will win (prediction): Scrubs is just in there because Friends and Frasier are out and they needed a filler (sorry to say, cuz I know the show deserves it). Will and Grace... the show is so bad I don't even want to come up with a joke for it! It's really Desperate Housewives' to lose here. Arrested Devlopment could pull a HUGE upset if the Emmy voters REALLY love it. Otherwise I don't think Raymond has enough steam to win on its last year.

Snubbed: Again, don't watch comedies!

Best Drama
Deadwood
Lost
Six Feet Under
24
The West Wing

Who should win (my pick): The West Wing had it's year or four. dont' watch any of the shows other than 'Lost' so it's a no brainer for me. But I do want to give props to 24; it would be next on my list. LOST

Who will win (prediction): Six Feet Under and 24 are not in the running to begin with. The West Wing I heard had a pretty good season but not enough to be considered a great comeback after low ratings and few years of not winning. I wish that show would just die! It's between Deadwood and Lost and by God could Abc have 2 winners on its hands??? Yes, and it will. Lost

Snubbed: Rescue Me, Nip/Tuck, and Jack & Bobby

PHEW!!!!

Seriously, if Doris Roberts wins again and does her "Oh-I'm-too-old-yet-you-still-like-me" shtick speech, I will personally have her put out from her life support.

Doris Roberts winning again would make me angry, considering she has won (three times?!, I think) before. Jessica Walter, Conchata Ferrell and Holland Taylor are all more deserving.

Too right Victor Garber and Ron Rifkin gave the best performances in their tv careers this season yet they were snubbed for mediocrity like Naveen Andrews whos not only been the weakest link throughout the season of Lost to date; but his personal problems are beginning to overshadow his role in the show.

I feel that Garners performance in this season of Alias reflects that shes come a long way since the debut - shes more comfortable in the role of Sydney now and acting experience from the big screen is really transferring onto Alias. Easily the best actress on TV right now.

Yunjin Kim was easily the biggest snub of all for Lost. Shes been nothing short of fantastic; although id say that Matthew Fox definately deserved at least a heads up.

I seem to be the only person whos converted from Marica Cross to Teri Hatcher. I mean Hatcher does way more than people give her credit for on Housewives.

I love reading predictions!

With Doris Roberts, I find that every year, there's always ONE win that makes you go "What? Why?! Again?!", and with Raymond's last season, and a slim chance of any lead acting wins or Best Comedy win, I think Boyle and Roberts will win the Supporting awards for the last season. Kind of like the Emmys' little send-off for Frasier last year (a win for Kelsey Grammer AND David Hyde Pierce).

Yunjim Kim is definitely fantastic and she's such a breath of fresh air. And its annoying how Victor Garber got a Will & Grace nomination yet his peers forgot his ultra-cool Alias performance.

Some analysts have noticed that they nominated Naveen Andrews, who plays a "good Middle-Eastern" while Shohreh Aghdashloo, who plays a "bad Middle-Eastern" got shafted in her category (by old fogies Tyne Daly and the barely in The West Wing's Stockard Channing).

I think your theory may be correct; Christian.
That Naveen Andrews is getting a nod because his character has elements of antisterotype; one thats very important in todays culture with the war in Iraq.

Thats no good excuse for a nod - but the Emmys are kind of stupid.

Well, her tapes this year are just as strong as the one's in the past she's won with. I think the only reason she didn't win last year was because of Cynthia Nixon. She had strong tapes, but had it not been Sex's last season, she might not have won.

I'm going to post my predix in a minute...
