Things i noticed about the last episode that elude to older seasons
[spoil]
Syd wears a red wig. A recurring Alias icon throughout the seasons.
She saves Tippin who is strapped to a chair.
Project Helix [the cloning project] clearly was never destroyed at all...
The whole season 3 plot where they were trying to breed a sydney baby?
Anna Kisses the window in her trademark style when she traps syd.
Sloane working for the bad guys.
The Rambaldi Prophecy suddenly makes sense...if Sydney isn't going to bring destructive power, then a very evil woman who looks exactly like her almost certainly will.
I am infinately glad that Rambaldi's prophecy has been revived...and now its making sense. Prophet Five was after Sydney all of this season, right? So maybe they knew all along where this was going.

So... you post pictures from future episodes, but spoilers are not allowed?
Only Michael.
Heh, I'm surprised there's not a load of jokes about Sydney being Will's "best man".
I just about lost my shit when I heard "Who's Rambaldi?".
Great episode. Final five, here we come.

Spoilers are allowed as long as they have large SPOILER tags around them and are therefore hidden.
It's not much to ask.

Seeing this last alias episode in streaming format on the abc site, got me wondering -- why did they ever get rid of the Will character as a regular? He seems easily one of the most interesting characters, both the actor and the part, he's someone the audience can identify with that makes the show seem less like it's taking place on some other planet.
Did they ever give a real explanation for why they stopped having him as a regular?

I think it was because Bradley Cooper wanted to go into movies. I could be wrong, but I know that Merrin Dungey was simply written out as a character, Bradley Cooper left on his own accord I believe.
Will is a great character though, he definately gave the show grounding.
I think Rachel Nichols gives a little bit of that this time around. Shes the duck out of water.

Well he never made it into movies in any noticeable way. What a stupid career move on his part.

He must have graduated from the same acting school as David Caruso and David Duchovny.

I'd say his career is actually going pretty well, hes already anchored around as a supporting character in some big hits and now hes starring opposite Julia Robets on the hottest broadway ticket in years.

I could have sworn that i read various interviews way back when where the writers talked about how Will was written out because they just didn't know what else to do with him anymore. Also, when Alias was in S1/S2 a lot of people has this weird hatred for Will, but then it seems that after he was gone they realized that they missed him.
I think the show took a big hit when it lost Will (i would say Francie too, but Francie was dead a long while before anyone even knew). Will was the guy that everyone liked, and he was the audiences point of view, and he was just a great character all around.

You know, the fans of Sydney and Vaughn as a couple felt threatened by Will a a character. Those are the same Alias fangirls who threatened to leave the show when vaughn died.
I think they tried to do something similar with Nadia that they did will and francie. But Nadia is a kind of shallow character played by a mediocre actress. Will and Francie both had more depth.
No word as to Merrin Dungeys invovlement in the next few episodes though.

You know whats weird? The new episodes of Alias are top 50 ratings....
Sure last seasons ratings were top 25 and at times even top 20, but its first three seasons all averaged around the 50 mark.

No one's talking about tonight's ep?
[spoil]
Wow! What a load of death. I feel bad that Nadia died, but i cannot say i was absolutely shocked. I just had this bad feeling that she was doomed the second she woke up, but Renee, why Renee? She was so cool and damn that Anna. Sloane is all bad again, which is good and i understand that the only thing that would really push him to that would be the loss of Nadia (especially when he was the one responsible). The second that Nadia threw page 47 into the fire i was absolutely sure that she was dead, but the Renee thing came out of nowhere. I do wish that they had kept Renee in the credits for these last few eps though, as that would have made it more shocking. I am loving that Anna is shaping up to be the big bad, as she was Syd's nemesis way back in S1. What about that whole "the passanger and the chosen one will fight and only one will survive" thing? Syd and Nadia fought at the end of S4, but they both survived, and then i thought that maybe Anna and Nadia would fight but Sloane "killed" her so that doesn't really fit in with the prophecy. Isabelle (or Isabel?) will never get to know her aunt Nadia, that is sad. Also, Sloane is SO going to die this season, he has to after all of this. I have this horrible feeling that it is going to be fucking Reservoir Dogs by the time this thing is through (i couldn't help myself). I could go on like this but i am just rambling by this point. Between Alias and Lost this has been some night, some surprising and wonderful night.[/spoil]

I didn't watch Alias or Lost tonight because of midterms tomorrow. I'm going to watch Lost the second I can because of the IMMENSE reaction it's gotten. My best friend called me up and I have never heard her react like that to anything before (she may even be readin this now because I told her to come on and read the Lost stuff you guys are discussing since I can't talk to her about it).
I'm actually thinking of putting off watching this Alias episode until next Wednesday to get like a 2 hour sort of experience.

HOLY SHIT
SERIOUSLY
HOLY - FUCKING - SHIT.
I cried. Thats the second time in three episodes.
I think this is the best episode ive seen of Alias ever. Seriously, and thats without Lena Olin. Which is nuts. It was an episode where i felt like a part of me just slipped away, but the new part of me is so much more fufilling that i cannot wait to see what happens next.
[spoil] I cannot believe they killed nadia. SLOANE killed his own DAUGHTER for Rambaldi!!!! OMG.!
I nearly didnt cry. I never liked her THAT much, but the whole thing was just so darn sad! We've lost two parts of Alias history tonight!
I totally agree that making Anna the arch villan was a very very smart move. Garner plays her very very well.
This was Renee's best episode by a mile and it has to be the one she dies in. I really really liked her this episode, And i thought she pulled it off great. Seeing Evil Syd aka Anna slit her throat was like OMG.
Sloane being totally 100% pure evil again is the best move on Alias' part for literally two seasons. He was always the loathable character and even though they tried to make him seem good, it always went back to his rambaldi obsession.
Seriously though its like a classic tragedy. The father striving to save his daughter for the pain he caused her, only to kill her in the realisation that he has become consumed by his obsession.
The narrative at the end was super poignant....Alias is seriously the best show ever.
