Don't know if anybody has mentioned this.
The show is getting decent, but not stellar ratings, but NBC and Sci-Fi are obviously pleased because of the critical reception. There is good news for the repeat viewings and the iTunes downloads, and obviously the DVDs sell really well. The rumor that NBC was considering moving it to NBC proper or cancelling the show are apparently not true in the least, but there is a new rumor floating around that I came across on Television Without Pity from TVGuide that the show may be moving to a more ratings friendly evening.

Like say Wednesday at 8pm. Or Thursdayish around Eureka.
I have to say, when new Battlestar episodes are on, I have to sacrifice a bit of my Fridays to see every move of this utterly brilliant and so far pretty flawless show. Moving to 8pm Wednesday, so I can flip over to Lost at 9pm, would be the ideal situation for me personally.

It's gonna continue to garner the same ratings regardless of what night they move it to cause of the cult like fanbase that fuels this show, so it's best to simply leave it on Sci-Fi Friday where it belongs...

Well, another thought provoking episode of GALACTICA has now passed us and this episode dealt with a deadly virus that threatened to wipe out the Cylon Race and apparently originated from Giaus Baltar who was responsible for it and was subsequently tortured with some nerve impulse type of gadget the Cylon's used on him.. Adama get's wind of Baltar being responsible for leading the Cylon's to Earth from an Old 13th tribe map he has and is clearly none to happy about it..

Huge spoiler
[spoil]Apparently someone dies in Maelstrom... according to a bunch of sources, including Jamie Bamber, it's one of the "primary cast members"... it's my guess that Tigh offs himself, but that's only my guess[/spoil]
The candidate for "Black Market"-episode of the year looks to be
[spoil]The Woman King, I certainly hope it's better than its description is... (essentially it's Helo playing John Q. like the Denzel movie... in space)[/spoil]

No. Baltar is not responsible for the virus at all, the probe was somehow contaminated when the 13th Tribe left Kobol 3000ish years ago. The interesting thing about Baltar is that he's completely earnest, yet he's reading his situation incorrectly because his instinct for self-preservation forces him only to play his hands at the last possible minute.
The Cylons have a hard time seeing humanity as individuals, which unsurprisingly was Helo's primary defense of the Cylons on Colonial 1. The Humans are individuals and act in selfish ways, trying to achieve a sense of cohesion that they can never sustain, and the Cylons, a hive-like one mind society is slowly struggling with the introduction of individuality in a homogenous culture. It's one of the themes of the show...

Actually, I read awhile back that possibly the Cast member to be off'd would be HIGHLIGHT FOR SPOILER: Edward James Olmos who was rumored to be leaving the show.. Could this show survive without him???

Actually, I made a slight mistake. Patriot Resource says [spoil]Dirty Hands is the episode where someone dies (apparently)[/spoil]
No BKB, I don't think it could survive...
Basically...
[spoil]Adama is a Moses-like figure, this whole Battlestar series has a lot of Mormon influence and other Biblical influence, there are a *ton* of paralells to the Moses story including a "dying leader leading his people to the Promised Land", slave revolts, commandments, exile, all that fun stuff... well Moses wasn't necessarily dying, but he was a bit cursed after his insolence with the whole rock thing.
If I am allowed to project here, it would make sense to me that Adama gets to lead his people to Earth but somehow dies in the final episode of the series before he actually touches down on the planet. Kara would be an obvious choice for a leader after the death of Adama.[/spoil]
But who knows.
I do know that...
[spoil]Bill Adama, Kara, Anders, Lee are mentioned in the spoilers for Maelstrom, so they at least survive this far into the season. Also Ron Moore said they were not going to kill Boomer at all this season... not that that would matter I guess
The primary 7 characters/actors (the Adamas, Roslin, Six, Baltar, Starbuck, Boomer) are signed on to 5 year contracts.[/spoil]

So chances are, this show will make it to Season 5 before Earth is found?? I hope they have a good plan to milk it that far??

Battlestar Galactica is more like Lost in the sense that the producers know where they are taking the show and it has a definate aim, but the episode to episode details aren't specifically drawn out years in advance like Heroes is. Ronald Moore was conducting an interview and he said that he didn't like planning out every minute detail so far in advance because it kills the chance of adapting the story in a changing environment and incorporating new stories difficult. There are some fairly prominent characters who have developed out of almost nothing on the show (for one, Helo was not supposed to return in the series but they liked him so much they brought him back... Chief and Cally were not supposed to be heavy duty characters, etc.).
Ronald Moore has stated that they are aiming for a 5 year story line. Unlike Lost, if Battlestar's ratings keep falling the way they do, no matter how critically acclaimed the show is, NBC/Sci-Fi might decide to pull the plug a little early, but in Battlestar's case, I am under the (maybe false belief) that they would let them have a mini-series or a half of a season to complete the story. The fact that NBC and Sci-Fi are still interested in Caprica despite the lowish-ratings of BSG (again, with good DVD sales, publicity and good iTunes like downloads and repeat viewing) is a promising sign.
But, being that the third season is in the can, I can't see NBC/Sci-Fi able to justify such an expensive show beyond a fifth season unless the ratings hold up. Up until this point, I'm just glad that the show is on an NBC network, if this had been a Fox Network, the show would probably be cancelled already.

Think it does well there (iTunes, DVDs, 'other' downloads ), but the ratings are falling. Atleast for first 3-4, haven't seen later ratings. And considering Sci Fi's history with another cult, and critical (atleast by fans) acclaimed show such as Farscape, there should be some worry. But they too atleast got the mini. :-)
As for new episode, was good, though I have such a feeling that those 42-43 minutes are just not enough. Resolution was a bit...not good.

The difference between Farscape and Battlestar is that NBC actually is using Battlestar as a prestige and I believe an incredibly serious effort will be made this year to get it nominated for best dramatic series. I don't think they would actually win, but a nomination for Battlestar would be huge.
Farscape was acclaimed as a good sci-fi show but it really fell off there.
I'm not obviously much of an analyst, but I have read that the OnDemand, iTunes and repeats (like the late late Friday and Sunday showings) of new BSG episodes are strong enough to suggest that it really could be the 9pm Friday timeslot which has a lot to do with the ratings. It's a tough time.
I also read on TWoP somewhere that NBC was thinking about showing the new BSG episodes in a Saturday evening timeslot after they had been aired on Wed/Thur/Fri on Sci-Fi, similar to how Heroes actually plays at 7pm on Fridays on Sci-Fi. I don't know how credible this rumor is, but it is not outside the realm of possibility.

I can't remember the last time I watched an episode on television. I'm downloading last night's ep on iTunes as we speak.

Jesus, what an exciting episode of GALACTICA this was tonight.. This episode revealed ALOT and did so by going practically all the way back to the Pilot episode.. Tonight's episode was titled "HERO" and focused on a character named BULLDOG that was a member of the BATTLESTAR VALKRIE Crew and Adama was the Commander.. On a routine Recon patrol, BULLDOG is ambushed by what appears to be an "Unknown Threat" and as a result, Adama has to make the order on whether to make an attempt to rescue him or shoot him out of the sky in the event he's captured and forced to answer questions.. In the end, Adama shoots a torpedo at him, hitting him and thinking he's dead, but he's not cause he ejected at the last moment.. Turns out, BULLDOG was captured by the Cylons and held prisoner in a cage for like 3 years and mistreated.. Then, through much torture, he manages to SMASH Lucy Lawless in the face hard enough to crush her nose and kill her, thus seeing an opportunity to escape and make his way back to GALACTICA where he ultimately confronts Adama for abandoning him.. This episode had Adama reveal that he was part of the reason why the Colonies were attacked by the Cylon's, that what was thought to be a 40 Year absence from communicating with the Cylon's wasn't exactly true either.. We see a broken down, bing drinking COL TIGH WITHOUT his eye patch on muttering a bunch of stuff and it was just a damn good episode all around.. 2 weeks from now(which I guess GALACTICA will take a break next friday in observance of Thanksgiving) there having an episode that looks like FIGHT CLUB where everyone on the Fleet get's to duke it out in the Ring which apparently brings out alot of hostility between LT THRACE and LEE ADAMA.. Should be a treat.. I give tonight's episode though ***** stars out of 5 and what a season thus far..

Valkyrie eh? Some Norse mythology in there as well...more and more am sure that Earth is indeed their homeworld.
Good episode, but again felt a bit dissapointed with the end of it.
And weird that BKB didn't mentioned that threesome.

It didn't really dawn upon me until after I wrote my review, but yeah, Baltar is quite stud villain and was weird to see him in the control room next to the other cylon's staring at what appeared to be a map of sorts.. He just looked sort of odd or ut of place in a shirt and tie..

I suppose it was the same way with Tigh, that he had the option to continue as XO or get out.. I guess this rule sort of applied to Thrace(I'll never refer to her EVER as Starbuck.. That name will always belong to Dirk Benedict) and she's very valuable to not resume her role.. In 2 weeks, I want to see her and Lee Adama beat the snot out of each other in th ring.. I also beg COL TIGH to have the Black Eye Patch, not the Gold one.. He's a badass and amazing how him and Thrace have sort of a mutual respect for one another now compared to previous season's..

Thought I'd post this; didn't seem as though anyone had:
