Wow, great episode. The sark/rachel thing was handled really imaginatively.
One thing you have to give Alias its dues for is making even villains likable once in a while.
Im really enjoying this season, and i think once Sydney gets back in control [which she so will when filming resumes] then the ending is just going to be spectacular.

The whole episode was pretty blah, but when they showed Irina, my jaw literally dropped. Anything episode with Lena Olin in it immediatly jumps up in quality. Now I'm just dying of excitement for the next episode.

I was in shock when she showed up! With all the hoopla about Vartan coming back they managed to hide this very well. From what I heard on another board they travelled to NY to shoot Lena's scenes, since she was filming her movie there at the time. Hence why none of the paparazzi photos showed her, just Vartan since those were taken when filming in LA. Nice trick!

I haven't caught up on the last two episodes, but I heard that last night's episode, despite all the hooplah, was pretty crappy.

Im not sure if its just my unbridled Alias love or not, but every episode this season to me has been pretty damn good. Im watchin the one from America tomorrow and im so excited.
Also, if anyone has season 4 on dvd, watching it over again can bring up some interesting links to this season and to events later in the season. Which is kind of funny considering everyone was complaining the first half of the season basically had no direction. It's pretty obvious it actually did when you watch it all back
I just hope they concentrate on Sydney for the final half of this year. I mean i like Rachel, but not enough to see the final countdown of the show to be about her.
Also, Eloide Bouchez apparently is no longer existent in Alias? She disappeared after like three episodes.

Okay best episode of the season.
[spoil]
I knew it was Irina because of you spoilerwhores but seriously, OMG moment. Vaughn / Sydney had more chemistry in that one episode than they have had since the show began, and the moment when Jack walked into the cellar with the crib :o
But the cliffhanger with sydney emerging from the hatch has to have been the best since the season 4 finale. Im so gripped.
Also making a triumphant return to the radar and suggesting we've gone full circle and theres been something on the backburners all along?
SD-6[/spoil]

I haven't been watching all season since the premiere. [spoil]So are you saying that Vaughn ended up being alive like most of us thought after he was died? What was their reason for him having been "dead"? To hide him?[/spoil]

That isn't clear yet archie
[spoil]
Vaughn in this episode came back as Sydneys memory - she was being mentally probed and he was there - but in a way that she explained to him what had happened and together they resisted the mental probing; even though the Vaughn sydney was interacting with was simply a recreation of him in her head, But his entire appearance hinted heavily to him still being alive. Sydney realised the drink she gave him "flatlined" him. The death plot thickened.
The main part of the episode though, was Sydneys mother returning and torturing her for information about sd-6 from behind a glass. Whatever Vaughn and Prophet Five were - they were invovled with SD-6 and Irina Derevko
[/spoil]
Either way, i strongly suggest everyone jump back into the last season while they still can. Because this latest episode was the best in a great run. The one before was also really great too.

You guys seriosuly didn't like the episode?
I thought it was the best of the season so far. And though, to me, the relationship never worked when Vaughn was "alive" it works now lol. I seriously think his death is the best thing to happen to the show other than Lena Olin
Which brings me to...
[spoil]I didn't know she was going to be in this episode and wow I was shocked. She was soooo good in the like 5 seconds of screen time she had lol. She always amazes me.[/spoil]

Rod. Spoiler tags! These bitches spoilt that "surprise" for me
I agree it was the seasons best episode yet. Im so excited about the final countdown now that you know who is back and [spoil]SD-6[/spoil] has been re-introduced as a component to the story.

And weirdly enough this was one of Alias lowest rated shows! It surprised me given who came back. Oh well I hope they promote the show big time during the Dancing with the D Listers!

Finally saw the episode! Wow...
Episode talk in spoilers.
[spoil]Lena Olin's cameo was a huge shock. I miss being shocked by stuff like that. I usually read spoilers, but obviously, it was kept under some tight wraps. Definitely best of the season, and one of the best in a long time. It was a lot of fun travelling back to old episodes that got recreated to fit the episode and its new dialogue (my favorite was going back to the second episode, which they recreated very well).[/spoil]

We all hate Americans. It's just easier to say it the further away you are from an American. Canadians can only think about it, but you're fine to scream it from the rooftops, Michael.

I dont hate Americans. I just have confusing feelings about them
They made Alias so that gives me faith.
The fact that they didnt actually WATCH Alias kind of takes that faith away again.

Took you a few days to say that. I say you're lying. You hate Americans.
And don't give me that "But I didn't read your incredible post, X!!". You read it immediately after I posted it, but you've been trying to lie to yourself since then. You hate the Americans. You do.

Maybe Garner should die in the finale.
That doesn't happen too often on TV.

Can Alias Live on After This Season?
Source: TV Guide December 22, 2005
TV Guide reports that, despite ABC's announcement this fifth season would be the last for J.J. Abrams' Alias, the show may survive in another form.
The producers are mulling ways to continue the franchise. "I would say we haven't seen the end of all things 'Alias'," executive producer Jeff Pinkner teases. "There are versions of this show which could exist after this season. There are plenty of stories we'd love to tell."
Among the formats Pinkner and Abrams have discussed is a spin-off series revolving around villains Sark (David Anders), Peyton (Amy Acker) and Sloane (Ron Rifkin). "It's the triumvirate of evil!" Pinkner says. (No official discussions with ABC have taken place yet.) Producers have also toyed with the idea of a big-screen adaptation starring Garner.
When the series returns this spring, expect to see familiar faces. Greg Grunberg has already filmed an episode as Eric Weiss, and producers have worked up a wish list that includes Syd's buddy Will (Bradley Cooper), perhaps more appearances by spy mommy Irina (Lena Olin, who put in a surprise cameo in the Dec. 14 episode), and the evil Francinator (Merrin Dungey).
Seems pretty interesting. The only spin-off could be interesting or it could turn out shit, although the idea isn't bad. Maybe seeing how Sark was recruited and what not could be interesting.
