Re: The "Lost" Thread: Season 6
Dr. Linus was boring and Recon was boring too. At least they should've already hinted at least how the island timeline and the side flashes are connected. I have no appreciation for the side flashes because all they do is mirror the character of a certain person in a gimmicky fashion with a lot of too far stretched connections. For now they're acting as a desperate time filler. And the action on island feels too been there done that. I'm really disappointed.

Re: The "Lost" Thread: Season 6
Well, I'm happy with that episode. I hope they can keep it rolling into next week, the show is so strong when Jacob and Bad Locke are involved, it tends to only simmer when it returns to the present.
My biggest question now is ... if the island is a gate containing evil ... and it stops evil from entering earth and thus continues to give us free will ... where does the alternate timeline fit in? How does time travel fit into it? Meh, I assume we'll find out eventually.

Re: The "Lost" Thread: Season 6
I enjoyed it a lot. I watch for the acting and drama as much as anything and enjoyed Nestor Carbonell's great performance.
I do agree that it should have been done earlier, like a lot of what has been revealed this season. In some ways this feels like the season that season 4 should have been, at least as far as info dumps go.

Re: The "Lost" Thread: Season 6
Hmmmmm
So, if Jacob brings people to the island to make choose right from wrong, then he's doing a shitty job at it, considering in the flash-sideways they're ALL making the right decisions!

Re: The "Lost" Thread: Season 6
Well you missed the point if that's what you got out of it. What Richard thought he knew was that the island was hell but he came around again by the end to not believe that anymore.
We learned a lot about Richard's details, and to me he's a very important character - more important than about half the Losties including for example Jin or Charlie. And we got a more concrete take on what the island is and what the MiB is.
If you want them to just stop the show, pull out a chart and explain things in detail then you're not going to get that.

Re: The "Lost" Thread: Season 6
yeah how was the plot moved along at all?
jacob's job is to keep the man in black on the island because he is evil.
jack and them are candidates.
man in black is the smoke monster. he wants to get off the island.
richard has been alive for a long time.
nothing new. yawn.

Re: The "Lost" Thread: Season 6
I'm indifferent with this episode. It dragged a little too much, and the reveals have been hinted before--such as Jacob keeping the MIB from leaving the island, the MIB not being able to kill Jacob himself, the MIB leaving the island having really bad consequences. The only two reveals I did not expect are Richard's wish to live forever and his role as Jacob's representative. I guess the episode confirming is not such a bad thing, but I simply expected more.
Despite all of those, Nestor Carbonell and Mark Pellegrino's performance were definitely the highlights. The interaction between Jacob and the MIB was intriguing, as well.

nothing new. yawn. I though it did with Jacob's explanation that the island is like a cork keeping in evil. We now know what the end game is. That the MIB wants to kill all the candidates and spread his evil around the world, destroying humanity.

Re: The "Lost" Thread: Season 6
The best episode this season? Yes. But it was an episode that doesn't belong in the last season. And the flashback format completely agrees with me. The scenes were definitely draggy a bit, but the actors pulled a good job of holding the plot for the writers. We kinda officially got the sense what the island is. But it's only the tip of an iceberg really. Again nothing pivotal that really says "This is the endgame.". It's definitely something that could've been introduce much earlier in the series and would probably satisfy fans much more. I'm still not feeling this season. It was a great episode, but still there were eight lame to just good ones before it and it wasn't good enough to reedem that. Jedi Master Carr wrote: I though it did with Jacob's explanation that the island is like a cork keeping in evil. We now know what the end game is. That the MIB wants to kill all the candidates and spread his evil around the world, destroying humanity. Umm, If he wanted he could kill all of the candidates immediately. It's obviously not that simple. There's nothing that prevents him from killing them really. And the hundreds of crossed out names prove that.

Re: The "Lost" Thread: Season 6
Writers told they had big plans for Eko. Which probably means he was a candidate. Until Adewale wanted out. And he got killed by the smoke monster as a result. Maybe candidates work both way. They can either replace Jacob or free MIB? That would make much more sense.

Re: The "Lost" Thread: Season 6
Thought last night's episode was amazing. Nestor Carbonell was totally exquisite, and personally speaking I've been longing to find out about Richard's past for so long. Pitch-perfect acting, and he carried the episode with aplomb.
And I think it is now absolutely safe to assume MIB is completely evil (smashing a perfectly good bottle of wine clearly demonstrates this, heh). His m.o. seems to be getting people to do his bidding by impersonating their dead loved ones or family members.
I liked the explanation of the statue getting damaged by the ship crashing into it.
Was anyone else reminded me of some kind of quasi-baptism when Jacob was dunking Richard's head into the water to prove he wasn't dead?
