I enjoyed the "Rocky Horror" episode. Will looks so delicious with his shirt off. And I thought Emma's musical number was awesome.

Looking forward to this next episode with Kurt's love interest being introduced.

Kurt's love interest singing Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream" on Tuesday's episode. Gives me chills :D. He's a cutie.

Loved tonight's episode. The musical numbers weren't very good aside from "Teenage Dream," but the story was good. Loved the stuff with Kurt and Blaine. Can't wait to see their relationship progress. I really like the character of Blaine. Makes me glad they ended up not going with Sam as the love interest for Kurt. I kind of find him a total douche lately anyway.

The scene with Shue and Beiste towards the end was really sweet.

Can't wait to get the Glee Christmas album next Tuesday, though are they not going to have a Christmas-themed episode? I was really hoping they would, but it doesn't look like it will be next week when the CD comes out.

Post Re: "Glee" Thread - Sept 9 as scheduled!
it was ok. idk. it feels like the first episode of glee actually worth discussing in a while...so that's good

on paper, the episode was totally contrived. first, we had the compu nerd taking cool tips from the (now re-cast as a) hard ass street kid. yeah, okay. next, the school bully beats the crap out of the gay kid because he can't come out of the closet. and then finally, all the kids (who, as of last week, were not even thinking about sex) somehow get together and share the same tip -- you can "cool down" to a beastly woman smoking cigarettes in lingerie.

it was a total mess of ideas. even more "wtf" than having an episode about everyone having britney spears dreams while being worked on by dr. john stamos

now the good:
-- puck is the best male character. now, let's plz keep him separate from the rest of the glee kids, because he totally distracts from the mushy "extra special episode" schlock and that's much needed. plus, see how much cooler "one love" (totally out of place in the context of the episode) was than "empire state of mine" in ep 1 (totally the context of episode one)...because he could be "puck"?
-- kurt was likeable in this episode. kinda.
-- i like the idea of kurt having a mentor. but that kid is way too much of a bro to ever be kurt's boyfriend
-- beast. i don't like how she's forced into the story, and i never want mr. shoe in those scenes (how is what he said -- "you are a beautiful amazing woman whose heart is just too big for most men to stand" -- supposed to be comforting???), but she's good in the role.
-- the confetti canon

now the stuff i didn't mind:
-- "teenage dream" wasn't really any worse than the song itself, even though it was total brotastic (what was the FISTPUMPING all about? did, like, anoop desai come up with this?)
-- the mash-ups weren't bad, though santana looked mega hot in her outfit and TPTB chose to not show her, instead showing rachel...as if we haven't seen enough rachel

now the bad (outside of the horrible ideas):
-- editing of the "teenage dream" scene. first shot -- everyone's fistpumping and/or singing. second shot -- new guy eye fucks kurt. third shot -- kurt eye fucks whatever. considering he had just walked into that school...it was way too random even for glee standards.
-- puck's confrontation abt ppl not caring about him in the principal's office. ugh, coming up next -- glee sings an ensemble version of "living for the city" for an episode about urban plight, neglected youth, and gangs. then again, the idea of puck becoming a hard ass again was sort of random. he softened up a lot over S1 and the show just chose to abandon that. that's glee for ya.

I thought the last episode was great. Music numbers sucked though (though they did manage to make Teenage Dream somewhat listenable). I was really hoping they would have better production values in this season, but it's the same synth sounding guitars, piano, drums from one episode to another. It's like they do all the music on a Yamaha keyboard.

I wish Glee has more of these more dramatic, rather than just pure musical episodes.

They should cover that song. I would tune in.

Be proud, be.redy. I've herd that they're rethinking their tribute episodes. They were going to make the post Superbowl episode either Britney 2, MJ or Beatles, but have since decided to cut tributes to about twice a season. Though I think doing MJ after the Superbowl would still be fine.

I just hope a Britney 2 does happen. The first Britney ep only had songs from the first half of her career (and The Only Exception. wut? Everytime would've fit so well for their ending too). I would like another covering the second half of her career. The episode was very successful, the songs sold very well and Britney has gotten good will for being on it.

Tributes episodes are cool if they are more than just tributes. The Power of Madonna worked because they worked in Like A Virgin and What It Feels Like for a Girl into the plot brilliantly. Plus there were tons of Madonna references that perhaps only madonna fans would have picked up. The Vogue video was that episodes Britney/Brittany-like number and my least favorite one.

Maybe they should leave Britney alone for now. I shudder at the thought of the next BOMT.

Really, really liked Never Been Kissed. Both storylines with Kurt and Coach Bieste were poignant and very well performed by their respective actors. Also, Darren Criss is cute and makes a good addition to the show.

I loved the performance of Teenage Dream but I adore that song in the first place (definitely Katy Perry's best, other than maybe Hot N Cold). And both mash-ups were really good, although I liked Stop in the Name of Love/Free Your Mind a bit more than Livin' on a Prayer/Start Me Up.

I absolutely LOVED Gwyneth Paltrow on tonight's episode. Makes me wish she could join the show as a regular. The final performance was very cool, though it always annoys me when they have over-the-top sets. Is it just in their imagination? That's the only thing that would make sense, since I highly doubt there's money in their Glee budget for that stuff.

LOVED last night's episode. Breezy pace, snappy writing, plenty of comedy, enjoyable musical numbers.

I thought Gwyneth was fabulous in her role (loved her dressed as Mary Todd Lincoln, and also describing Cameo as "an attractive Biggie Smalls"). Would love to see her return at some point, and she's definitely my early pick to win the guest Emmy. Even though I get annoyed when I hear "Forget You" instead of, you know, "Fuck You"...Gwyneth did a great job.

Lots of fun: "Nowadays." "Make 'Em Laugh" was enjoyable as well, even if that's hard to duplicate successfully.

Also amusing:
-Rachel falling on the buttered floor
-Mercedes' hallucination of the little pink purse falling out of Kurt's mouth
-"There has to be a Journey song we haven't done yet!"
-"You make the underflaps of my breasts burn. Like when I used to rub poison sumac on them."

And I thought the Umbrella/Singin' in the Rain mash-up would be ridiculous but it really kinda worked, actually.

The only downside was Terri. I think Jessalyn Gilsig is a talented actress but the character is incredibly annoying and repetitive. Either cut her out of the show entirely (since she so rarely appears anyway) or make her do something else other than obsessing over Will.

Post Re: "Glee" Thread - Sept 9 as scheduled!
It was better than last week.

The good:
-- Sue flashback in beginning as she convinces the fat chick to sneeze on Will
-- Chris Colfer in this episode
-- Gwyneth Paltrow, for the most part. Not as good as Chenoweth but def. more appealing than she's been (imo) in the past. Liked the two moments you brought up -- the Mary Todd Lincoln impression...and the "an attractive Biggie Smalls" line. That was just bizarre.
-- No plots involving CHORD OVERSTREET!!

The bad:
-- Will. He's the biggest problem w/ the show now. There was a compelling plot in the pilot, when he was considering leaving school to become an accountant...but they didn't do anything with it.
-- Umbrella/Singin' in the Rain. It didn't tonally make sense. And, really? It was just Umbrella with Will singing the chorus to Singin' in the Rain over the Umbrella chorus. Definitely wasn't as good as, say, the Halo/Walking on Sunshine one.
-- All That Jazz. It was just like the version in the movie? That's not...clever?

Battle for the Tots did not go anywhere.

I thought it was near boring. I virtually didn't like anything that went on in this episode.

I didn't think much of the anesthesia induced music scenes in Birtney/Britanny but this flu induced one was awful. Just completely awful. Forget You was OK, but Umbrella/Singin' In the Rain was one of the worst things Glee has done. A mashup that made no sense, sounded awkward and had too flashy presentation for a "regular" performance.

BTW Gwyneth Paltrow can't dance.

The plotlines were pretty dumb too. This episode was basically completely self-contained. There was no progression of current storylines and not a single big one was started (Sue being principal is big, but Sue always kinda managed to make principle do whatever she wanted so it's not like she gained much with her new position).

Got the Christmas album and am listening to it now. "Baby It's Cold Out Outside" is truly delightful. I absolutely cannot wait to see Chris Colfer and Darren Criss perform this.

I dunno, I liked the episode a lot. This is Glee, so you have to take things like the engagement and wedding all happening in the same episode (!) with a grain of salt.

I did think Sue getting married to herself was silly, though. Although it was mostly there for Carol Burnett to be her awesome self so whatever.

All of the stuff at Burt and Carol's wedding was the best. The "Marry Me" and "Just the Way You Are" numbers were just so...gleeful, really. So sweet. Finn recognizing Kurt as his brother was adorable. Also, the wedding speeches (I am continually shocked at Mike O'Malley's superb performances on this show).

Liked Quinn pointing out Rachel "setting the feminist movement back" with her "let's get the boyfriends to intimidate Karofsky" bit.

The bullying storyline is a little heavy-handed, but the acting is very good from all involved and I appreciate the effort to address this kind of issue. I just don't want them to veer into after school special territory. Kurt having to transfer makes me sad...obviously he'll come back, I just want it to be soon!

Wow. This season is a mixed bag for me so far - raging from excellent to very good to mediocre/boring. I liked this episode even less than last week's one.

First of all the whole episode didn't have a good focus. Was it about the wedding, about Kurt's problems with the bully, about Finn finally accepting Kurt as a brother, about Sue's completely idiotic wedding (really what was the point of it)? It seemed like they patched things with those stories without actually having a good solid center to build this episode around. The wedding seemed like it was more about Kurt and Finn, and the things in school felt like they were more about the wedding. It just made a little sense to address issues in that way.

Also Sue stepping down as a principal made last week's episode even more of a filler. They managed to "fix" the only thing that actually had any progress in last week's episode. And I assume Kurt's stay at the new school will be just as brief as this one. He and Blane will probably become students at McKinley by the end of the next episode. LAZY!

Oh, the songs were boring. It would be better if this episode didn't have any. But I'm guessing they're keeping the no-songs episode for some big death episode. I'm guessing they will have their own version of "The Body".

Overall I'm surprised this season has been pretty good... but tonight's episode just wasn't that great, it was all over the place.

Hope next week's is good...

I'm really excited for next week's Christmas episode, if only to see Kurt and Blaine sing "Baby It's Cold Outside." Hope it doesn't let me down. It has already played out in my head. LOL. :P

That was fucking retarded.

First, it was like a complete rehash of S1's sectionals episode...except even (how was this possible?) more convoluted...why do Finn/Rachel and Will/Emma come up every five episodes?

Second, er...the songs?
- Don't Cry For Me, Argentina was better than it had any right to be, but still...cheese?
- The old people singing the old song...yo, that Imagine shit last season with the deaf people wasn't super endearing or clever, this wasn't, either
- Hey Soul Sister...why is the gay dude such a broseph? Jesus. Anoop, please stop trying to get me excited with your hands? You are singing an acapella cover of corporate rock schlock...not rapping.
- Time of My Life...really? I can't stand CHORD OVERSTREET!, so I can't say I expected much...but gawd, what an awful song choice
- Valerie...okay, I liked this.
- Dog Days are Over...not a fan

The good? Valerie, the Lauren girl (ish), Santana calling Rachel "Yentl", hope that maybe this is the end of the Emma/Will thing, clear signs that the writers are done with "Matty Ice" and want to make Will more like the Will from the Pilot?

Fail:
-- No matter how hard this show tries...I don't think anyone cares for the Mike/Tina subplot

Ummm, yeah. I enjoyed it slightly more than last week's episode but it was again all over the place. The build up to sectionals this year was non existent. They just happened. I didn't even have a feeling they were to happen this soon. It was like someone hit me in a head when I realized that this is the sectionals episode. And I won't even go into commenting a tie. WTF?

I'm glad Kurt is realizing he has been acting a bit douchey himself in his new school. This drama queen just needs a great big deal of attention, not equality and freedom apparently.

Songs were mixed. Don't Cry For Me Argentina was funny. It was completely out of place. The old people and the Warblers - I don't even remember what they sang. Time of My Life was good. I actually thought Quinn and Sam looked cute together for the first time. Dog Days Are Over was pretty good.

Eh. This season is a complete mixed bag so far.
