That was a good episode, I liked the first 2 better though. Its surprising they've spent now 3 episodes in like a 3-4 hour timespan, not that I mind it, I find it all good. Jin speaking english I've suspected for a while. They hinted at it in S1 with the fish, and the fact that he hasn't learned anything furthers it. Next week looks like a Charlie episode, which is lammmeee. He SO does not deserve his 3rd episode. Hurley Claire and Shannon have gotten 1 thus far. The big black girl(in scenes from next time) hasn't gotten any.

the title for the next episode is "Everybody Hates Hug" I think. So, it should be a Hurley episode!!

Pretty lame episode, not as good as the last two. Michelle Rodriguez had me laughing and rolling my eyes, yet another JJ Abrams punching, gun toting macho woman, he seems to have a fetish for them.
I thought Jack copped out at the end in helping Locke push the button. He should have stuck to his guns. It was still better than most shows, I'm glad I watched but it wasn't a good Lost episode for me.
Enough with the fooking guns already. Jeez, this is practically becoming Alias 2, with a new Rambaldi device and constant gun waving.
And can Jack please go through an episode without crying? He's 3 for 3 this season.

The DAMN BUTTON! I don't understand Jack's change, he was so dead set on not pushing it. I had my feelings early on last season that the entire show was indeed based on The Prisoner. All they need now is to have Patrick McGoohan do a guest appearance.
I can't believe season 2 will revolve around that DAMN BUTTON!!!
I don't think "experiment island" will fly with audiences.

Maybe I'm missing something, but did it say how the polar bear got there?

Think he pushed the button cause he wasn't sure - like they said, why did he come back after talking to Desmond.
Also if he was sure, then he would have let them input the wrong code and not wouldn't have told them the correct #

But everything seems like a test with 2 sides to everything.
Where is Desmond going > Back to headquarters? The people on the boat are still unseen? The whole faith question and whether to push the button. Etc.
Are they being watched and is everything a test or an experiment?
Also wasn't it conveinent how Desmond remember Jack at the last second as he was leaving.
just bumping this from the end of the last page - if someone can comment on the bold above.

The video guy said something about it being a testing ground for wildlife, ecology, utopian whatever, etc.

Archie and Loyal are party poopers.
Good episode, with a few answers and a few more questions (What's going to happen if they DON'T press the button?). I was kind of hoping for the monster/security system to take Desmond, but oh well.
So, are we to assume the "others" are just from the tail-end of the plane? Or what? Which leaves me wondering if that woman's husband is still alive. Remember Rose from Season 1 talking about her husband in the tail-end of the plane? She said he was alive, and she believed it, so... but I don't think she's been on the show since the middle of Season 1.

[SPOILERS]The producers said the black guy guarding the pit (Who I think is suppose to join the cast or have a reacurring role) is from the plane that was carrying drugs before crashing, so I guess it's a mix of both, or just all drug dealers who snorted to much of that coke and went all tribal.[/SPOILERS]
And Rose was in the preview for next week, so I guess she returns.

Interesting interesting. I'm glad Rose is coming back. I always found it odd that she never joined the cast, or that we didn't see any of her since Season 1.

Did anyone notice from the preview for next week's episode: Jin speaking English fluently, at least in one sentence? He says "everything is about to change."

She joined some play midseason last year and left until this season. Hopefully to stay, because Rose is cool.

Well, they had to bring her back > Since she stated last year that she knew her husband was alive.

It's funny how some people didn't think this was that great an episode. Alot of fans were disappointed in the second episode, but then liked this one and now I'm seeing (like my friend) some loved last week's ep and didnt think this week's was as good.
Some are speculating whether this button will be the premise of Season 2 or not and I think that's pretty interesting. I don't think they'll go the whole season without not letting it slip or not hitting the button... maybe we'll get something mid-season or in February sweeps. I think Desmond will probably become like Danielle (french chick) and appear a few times throughout the season. I think they found the best possible way to explain him being there while still keeping everything up in the air.
Alot of things to note, but most of all I hope this button doesn't become a divide for Lost fans. It lost only about .5 million viewers this week and I'm hoping it's going to stabilize now and not fall harder because it has been posting impressive numbers and holds this season; I think the most impressive of any new or returning drama or sitcom!
I thought this was actually one of Lost's strongest episodes yet on the interaction/emotional/acting level. Jack screaming "I MARRIED HER" was such a nice build up and moment (ya, so he keeps tearing up... it does get a bit annoying but he's dealing with alot now and his character isn't the strong together-fellow alot believe him to be, although he is the hero) and it only built up to the one of the best dialogue delivery on the show...
"WHY IS IT SO HARD FOR YOU TO BELIEVE?"
"WHY IS IS SO EASY FOR YOU?"
"IT'S NEVER BEEN EASY!!"
this should go straight to Emmy consideration. They should submit this episode.... no matter how you elt about it once it was done you can't deny the tension and suspense you felt leading up to it.
This show is so fucking brilliant![/i]

Another question, note I didn't watch all of Season 1 - but Locke always seemed to do what he thought was best > It was interesting that Locke took Jack's word for the correct code without any thought that Jack was giving him the wrong code and then waiting for Jack to push the button instead of doing it himself.

Everything Raffiki just said, I agree with.
And, on the subject of Jack, I think all along that everyone (including the castaways, along with the viewers) were led to believe he was supposed to be the hero figure, and he never wanted that title at all. He's seen as a whole lot more to the other survivors than he wants to be, and it gets to him. So, being stranded on an island, and being looked at as the hero when he knows in his heart that he's far from it takes its toll on him.

And btw, with Locke believing Jack's numbers, as soon as he heard the right number 42 it clicked in his memory no doubt. Everyone's had moments like that, where you can't remember something, and when you finally do you go "Ohhhhhhhh."

Yes. He originally typed in 32 after somewhat stumbling on it, and Jack came in corrected him that was 42.

It wasn't surprising at all to me that Locke trusted Jack's number. I'm sure he views Jack as very honest, it was Locke who encouraged Jack to be the leader.
I sometimes wish Hurley or Sayid were the leaders though. They seem like 2 of the more sane ones.

Sayid yes, Hurley on the other hand is in my mind one of the most prone to go crazy. The lottery/numbers, his satarical manner, it points to a nutso job on his hand.

To go along with the "Don't push the button" quote from Walt and the general feeling of "I have to push the button" from Desmond/Locke, how about googling "BF Skinner" who was mentioned prominently in the Dharma Initiative recording (which you can view again here: http://www.thehansofoundation.org/)

Another Lost episode that let me down. Overall, I was more impressed by the last season.
The acting was good (especially Locke) and there were some good bits, like the whole Dharma thing, but everything inbetween, especially the stuff concerning the raft survivors fell flat.
