I totally disagree, I think Amy is hilarious (even if she's a retread of Sheldon most of the time) and Mayiam Bialik is great. Really digging the apparent additions of her and Melissa Rauch as series regulars.

It's amazing how this show can pick up when it goes back to the original formula. Last episode just proves how futile was the addition of Bernadette (whom I actually like) and Amy (whom I hate).

Yeah, I like Bernadette; I've thoroughly disliked every episode with Amy. It sounds like they may have used her in several episodes since Kaley was injured? I hope so. Season 1-2 were gold and 3 was about the same - 4 has been unfortunate.

Ugh. Penny just doesn't play well off Amy. This was probably my least favorite episode so far of TBBT. Everything felt forced. From Bernadette's ex making Howard jealous, to exchanging rooms to Penny and Leonard getting back together. I liked Raj in this episode though. His texting in the car was funny. And so was Bridget Jones Diary.

Re: The Big Bang Theory - Season 4
Well I didn't like the second half of the season. It was nearly a wreck. Too much of Bernadette, Amy and Prya.
The formula of geeks and one cool girl worked soooo well I just don't see why they had to go and give each and everyone of them a female interest/counterpart. It completely pushed the show off balance in a lot of things (mostly evident in the season finale when Raj and Penny hook up - huh? Talk about jumping the shark...). They basically added 3 more characters, all 3 female and pretty much all of them act as regulars on the show even if not credited as such.
The show was still funny sometimes though. Mostly because Sheldon's antics will probably never get old. But a lot of the humor changed. Gone are the obscure geek references and the opening shot of the season finale was opened with a non-funny fart joke that went on and on and on and on and on...
I liked the first half of the season a lot. It still felt like classic BBT. But once the new girls took over their regular roles the show lost a lot of charm for me. Or shall I say, it lost it's Bang!

I dunno, I really enjoyed both Amy and Bernadette. I thought giving the show more female balance actually worked without taking away from the humor of the guy characters. I mean, you can't have this show go on for 10 seasons of just Penny being weirded out by nerds without it getting stale.
Priya is a humorless bore, though. Which I think is how we were supposed to view her, so whatever.

Re: The Big Bang Theory - Season 4
I started out not liking Blossom but somewhere in the middle of the season she became one of my favourite characters on the show. It definitely wasn't the best season of the show, but I think I'd rather rewatch this entire season than season 3. The direction of the show does cause me some concern.
The geek references are growing few and far between. The episode a few weeks ago with Sheldon's WoW account being hacked into is what I thought set this show apart from the other sitcom headed by Chuck Lorre, 2.5Men. I stopped watching 2.5Men because the show became too reliant on humour that revolved bodily functions and that often times was not funny and went on too long. I have to admit I did laugh at Raj's "I'm the new homo in town", but the mocking of Leonard's flatulence and Howard's non doctor status I could have done without. It was also a little too mean spirited for this show.
And while I do enjoy the addition of Bernadette and Amy, it is taking away from the core group and the cast is expanding to the point where having them all interacting is growing to be difficult. One of my favourite scenes this year was when they were all at the conference and were playing off on another. Now that may seem contradictory to my above complaint on the style of humour, but in small doses I can tolerate it.
Priya can go away whenever she wants, I never warmed to her.
