Well it is 12 episodes and not a 2hr movie like Alexander was. Costumes cost a shit load which is why period pieces lately have been costing a shit load like Gangs of New York. But hey at least they are spending the budget wisely on production instead of dumping 12 million per episode on people's salaries like Friends was doing

The costumes, locations and sets al look pretty lavish to Lord Johnson...so far in the UK its about 5 episodes in..one area its dissappointed in is the lack of real battles..

I saw it all on demand over the past couple weeks. For the first 20 minutes I was bored out of my mind, but it picked up. By the end of the first episode I began to like it, and it stayed strong through the civil war and the part in Egypt. After that I thought it dragged a bit until the finale with Caesar’s assassination. Still the ending paid off as it packed even more of a punch then I expected.
I knew most of the history of the era, but there were many interesting details I did not know of. It was fun to learn about a number of things.
Overall I think it's a really good show. I like most of the characters and the plot is usually strong.

Wow very quiet thread. Anyhow its already on its third episode this season so I think it deserves its own bump. Alot more grosser than last season because of the communial dumping scene followed by the mob rape scene. Octavian gets more screen time this season around

 Re: The 'Rome' Thread
yes History Television has played this in Canada to much fanfare... It is really good and a lot of people I know have been watching it. The best scene was when Mark Anthony Looked at Brutus and Walked away. He is like "you now deal with a monster, me bitches!!" They are playing both season and are playing it many more times a week, so I think it is doing well.

 Re: The 'Rome' Thread
Its two seasons. I mean the show centered on Lucious and Titus so how can they continue the show without Lucious. They both had top equal billing

 Re: The 'Rome' Thread
the 2nd season is starting now...
I thought they would only play 1 season, but they are playing both!!
Great story so far, I want to see Mark Anthony more and Octavian more.
