Those predictions seem on the money. The two supporting actress categories I find the most difficult to predict. I'd give it to Oh for Drama, and...well I think anyone but Mullaly could win for Comedy. I'm hoping for Walter or Taylor.

Besides supporting actor in a comedy, which I think Peter Boyle will easily take, the supporting categories seem pretty much wide open this year.

I personally feel these are the most "open" nominations for a while. The emmys finally walked out somewhat of their comfort zone and nominated some great shows.

THINGS I NOTICED:

Will and Grace
I understand the discomfort alot of you are feeling. After all, there were more qualified shows out there to take some of its 15 nominations but admit it guys, this IS one of the best comedies out there. Sure it isn't as great as its first couple seasons, but its still laugh out loud funny. I doubt it WILL win any of its nods GRACEFULLY (get it?). I say it takes 2 awards for the Guest Appearences.

Lost/Best Actor in a Drama
I think that Lost got the right amount of nods. I was really disappointed that Matthew Fox didn't get a nod though. I thought he would be a lock, considering he was the STAR of the show. I guess its one of those, your not getting an award in your first season cases. He will get an emmy by the shows end though, I guarantee you! Im actually super surprised that Hugh Laurie got a nod for House. I honestly thought he was a really big longshot. And Im glad to see alot of love for Huff. It really is a great show.

Scrubs
AT LAST! The BEST comedy on TV has finally got the recognition it deserves. Im probably most happy about its nominations. And Im glad Zach Braff actually FINALLY got a nod. I don't think he'll win and that his award is the nomination itself. I think that if this season, Tuesday nights ratings will rise (which it probably will with the buzz with Scrubs and The Office), we'll see more recognition for the show and its other stars.

Best Actress in a Drama
I say its the BEST group of nominations and the most unpredictable. Im so glad Alison Janey didn't get a nod!!!!! It finally opened the door to some other great actresses. I think that this year its gonna be a big duel between Ben Affleck--oops--Jennifer Garner and Glenn Close. Glenn is really an award whore and the academy loves her( TV or MOVIE) but Jennifer Garner had one of her best seasons yet on Alias, and the ratings WERE up this year. Patricia Arquette, I say is the most surprising nod in the bunch. She was good in Medium, but I was expecting this to go to someone else.

bold- Who I think Will WIN
italic- Who I want to WIN

Deadwood
Lost

WTF? Will and fucking Grace?? ](*,) ](*,) It's not even funny; it's gay.

Oh well, at least Everybody Loves Raymond got the most nods for a Comedy Series (DH doesn't count, of course. It's a dramady). And I'm surprised Charlie Sheen was looked over for Two and a Half Men, when it got 2!! supporting actress nominations and 4 others. Blythe Danner got 3 nominations, I believe. Hopefully she'll win at least one. Sandra Oh wouldn't have been nominated had she not been in Sideways...actually, I bet she wouldn't have even been casted on the show. But, I like her, so that's good.

Hehe... ABC and Fox both had increases in their number of nominations. ABC jumped from 33 to 51 and Fox from 31 to 49. ABC had the strength of Desperate Housewives and Lost. On the other hand, Alias only got 4 nominations. Fox benefited from strong showings of Arrested Development (11), 24 (11), The Simpsons (3), MADTv (5), and American Idol (gasp! 6 - is that the most for a reality competition program?)

24 got its highest number of nominations this year with 11. Will it top last year's four wins?

I really thought Desperate Housewives would get more nominations. Meanwhile, Lost (yay) has 12, the most for a drama this year.

Yep. Both Survivor and the Amazing Race received 5. Oh, and I want to say thank you to the academy for finally nominating Zach Braff! It's about time.

I admit nothing. Will and Grace is a good comedy. Great? That's a stretch. One of the best? That's pushing it quite a bit. But, it's a matter of opinion.

It was great in season's 2 and 3. Season 1 was alright, and it went downhill after 3, I think. It's not even watchable anymore.

I was going to post this in the tv awards but I never got the chance.

Was very surprised that he didn't get nominated - I at least voted for him.

William Shatner - Boston Legal.

dissapointed that CSI got the shaft in most categories but Scrubs finally getting some recognition more than makes up for it.

I really hope AD wins over DH. DH isn't even a comedy.

And the first three seasons were great and LOL hilarious! I thought it was one of the best comedies on TV. But now I don't know if I can say that. I do still like it and it's one of the few sitcoms I watch, but it's a shame it had to fall so far.

I think Law & Order SVU got 3, not 2. (I think it's the only prominent procedural that with much representation.) Go Mariska!

Go Tony Shaloub for Monk!

And, The 4400, (as in the one in my sig, Hee!) got 3, including best mini-series, best writing in a mini-series, and best cinematography. Heh!

Actually if they didn't have the pilot during the regular pilot premieres, then they probably cast her just as Sideways was getting released, around October/November. Maybe even later.

I'm not saying she can't act because I know she's good. Her character is real bitchy and she plays it quite to the point. However, I can't shake the feeling that she was partially nominated because of the whole Sideways fiasco... the fact that she really got famous after the movie and that she never picked up any major or even minor awards while the other 3 swept.

Anyway... I'm just a little pissed that Naveen got nominated for LOST and Kim didn't.

That's what I was thinking. It premiered when? March? That would mean that they probably started shooting right after the new year.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Even the producers of "Desperate Housewives," ABC's newly minted Emmy nominee for best comedy series, concede their red-hot show is a far cry from what most viewers recognize as a classic TV sitcom.

But they insist that the serialized suburban tale, a surprise hit that led a ratings rally at ABC last season, is hardly a traditional drama either.

"We don't know what we are," Tom Spezialy, an executive producer and show-runner for the series, told Reuters on Thursday after his series gained 15 Emmy nominations, adding: "I think we're funny. We strive to be funny."

"Housewives," which tied NBC veteran "Will & Grace" as the most-nominated series on U.S. television, could become the first ABC show to win best comedy honors in 17 years.

But some critics and rivals suggest that ABC stretched the show's comedy credentials to enter it in a more hospitable Emmy category.

"That show is not a comedy," said Bill Lawrence, executive producer of NBC's hospital sitcom and Emmy rival "Scrubs," who nevertheless describes himself as a fan of "Housewives."

"I don't find that show as funny as (NBC political drama) 'The West Wing,"' he said. "I find 'Desperate Housewives' to be a great late-night soap, and it's going to crush in the comedy Emmys as an hourlong show that's not a comedy, and it's not that fair."

The theory goes that this year's comedy race was less competitive than usual due to the absence of several perennial comedy contenders -- recently departed "Friends," "Frasier" and "Sex and the City" among them -- while the field of potential drama nominees was especially crowded.

In addition, ABC had a more straightforward candidate for best drama in another new hit with lots of buzz -- the castaway thriller "Lost."

"I wish we could say we were that shrewd," Spezialy said of his show's entry as a comedy. "We just thought it was funny. I can't say that we plotted to win the Emmy nod in that way."

Spezialy said he and fellow executive producer and creator Marc Cherry "structure stories and scenes as if we're telling a comedy, and yet we don't run away from the drama. So it is a pure mix of both."

The precedent for such hybrids competing in the Emmys as comedies was set six years ago when "Ally McBeal," the popular Fox legal "dramedy," was nominated and won in 1999.

Detractors, however, say the five ladies of Wisteria Lane have more in common with prime-time soap operas of yore, such as "Dallas" and "Dynasty," than with their Emmy competitors. Neither of those shows ever won the top prize.

Meh. Some obvious great choices (Lupe Ontiveros, Scrubs FINALLY getting a best comedy series nomination) but overall there are also some really bad choices....and lots of omissions that just are????

Scrubs finally gets nominated but no Judy Reyes, Sarah Chalke, OR John C.M???????? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Alias has guest stars like Isabella Rosellini, Lena Olin, Angela Bassett, and Sonia Braga, and NONE of them get nominated??

sigh. Lots of dissapointments.

Also happy to see Sandra Oh nominated, completely deserving.

But on the flip side (kinda) not really that surprising to see Eva Longoria not nominated, but at the same time it IS dissapointing. She's just as good as the rest of the cast. I just hope she doesn't follow in Courtney Cox's footsteps.
