That was dull, really dull.
If Vaughn wants to know what happened to his father, he should just ask Jack.

From what I hear, from now on Syd and Vaughn really get back into the relationship and the tension thaws between them as she helps him find answers about his father. So more puky Syd and Vaughn stuff. He's as stiff as a board. I too would like it if they just broke up and stayed friends.
As for Irina, I hope her guest stint isn't some quick cameo stunt for the show, in much the same way Sark and Anna were used.

They totally blew the return of Anna.
I highly doubt I will be watching next season on tv, and I am certianly nto buying this season on DVD.
The show jumped the shark!

I read this little recap from TWoP and am sufficiently caught up I think. Also, I'm glad I chose The West Wing over Alias yesterday. I only saw brief bits inbetween commercials and I don't have any intention to see more.

Was it just me or have most of the villians this season blown hard, including last nights villian. I mean he just goes and gives Nadia the thing and has a little fight with her etc but the buildup was a waste, he was nothing. They soooo need a really great villian for this show again.

nadia is a suck character, the idea that she killed her mentor, very interesting, but they just made it so damn dull. She is the character that I feel ruined the show, her introduction was not teerribly great and this whole season I just find she adds nothign to the show. We have Syd, what purpose does she serve, if her and Syd wer eat odds or something.
The villans, like the plot have been quite dull.

If a character were to be killed off in order to make the show more alive and scary, who would you suggest it be?
I'm not asking who your least favorite character is, just whose death would possibly juice some life into the series, if that's even possible.
To me it's Sloane. He's not my least favorite character but if he were offed I think it would help the series some with drama arcs coming out from that.

While I agree, the mainproblem with that is he is the sole interesting "villian" we have know.
I think Jack's death would be interesting, but he is my favorite charcter so I would ahte to see it happen..but Sloane and he are wokrign together, so woudl would Sloane do? How would Syd react? Would you blame Sloane? And if her mother came back around then, could be very interesting.
Killing the dead weight of Vaughn, Nadia, Weiss..would not be interesting, but at least I owuld not have to hear from ever again.
Intruiging question...

Indeed killing Vaughn, Wiess and Nadia would really be good for this show. At least put Wiess back in the background and promote Dixon with Syd like season 1. Nadia is not needed and Vaughn should be used less as well, he's just so boring! The moment he becomes Syd's boyfriend he's always on missions with her and it just doesn't work. Wiess is getting the face time becuase the actor is appearing in the lead of JJ Abrams new series Catch and he's the guys best buddy. I actually think if the show is picked up by ABC Wiess is going to suddenly disappear at the end of the season.

I won't miss him, we get much better comic relief from Marshall.

I really don't understand why you watch "Alias" - all ive ever seen you say is negative about the show; so whats the point? I don't watch American Idol because i think it sucks - I certainly wouldn't watch each episode then go "wow this show blows so badddd!"

I keep hoping for the brillance of season 2, I should just give up and release it ain't gonna happen. Season 2 was the high point of the show, season one was good, 3 has it ups and downs, but I really don't plan to keep watching or continuing to recommend te show to anyone.

Did anyone realize next week's preview?
Can you say 'KILL BILL'??
This brings up another interesting point...
Quentin Tarantino has long been pin-pointed as a big ALIAS fan. I really wonder what he thinks of the show now!!!

Yeah next week's episode is blatant rip off of Kill Bill, this past week;s episode was a piss poor ripoff of Le Femme Nikkita...they are so out of ideas.

We will survive. Us die hard Aliasers have gotten used to viewers coming and going.
Last season was consistent with mediocre ratings; this season has been like a tamagotchi sales chart.

I'm on the same page as you Ripper. I've watched since day 1 and almost all of this season has sucked and about a 1/3 or half of last season. Yet, I watch every week.
I can't explain it. I did the same thing this season with Carnivale and show turned around during the last 4 episodes. Maybe the same thing will happen with Alias.

Alias used to be Abrams baby, now Lost is his baby and with Alias now, he does what he can for but is not his main focus now. That might explain why you say you saw a decline the last half of last season, that's about when they would have been preparing and writing Lost.
I knew one of those two would suffer from him trying to do both. Frankly I"m glad it is Lost that survived quality-wise, if one of them had to suffer.

Maybe, since Irinia is ocming back I'll willa t the very elast watch the finale, I will probably tape the remianign episdoes this seasona dn read the recaps, and if the recap or comments here suggests it is worth I might watch it.
I started watching in season 2 at the urging of a friend, and the show was great, season 3 had its moments, season one I saw on DVD and hwile flawed was good, but season 4 has been awful.

Sometimes I wonder when my complete obsession with ALIAS was true or not. I just can't get myself excited for anything about it now.
I think the first season of ALIAS, though as Ripper has said it has its flaws, was a fresh, new, and exciting show and offered some good quality hours that half the other shows on TV can't provide their entire seasons.
When Season 2 hit, it was like heaven, it will forever remain the golden age of ALIAS. the main reason: Lena Olin and some amazing writing.
Season 3 came along and in retrospect the first half of the season was a disaster because IMO they really didn't know where to go without Irina. they closed the deal on the whole'2 years' thing mid-season and jumped back in. some said the last half was bad cuz that's when the focus was on LOST.... NO WAY. The second haf of season 3 almost came close to Season 2's greatness. I re-watched the second half of Season 3 before Season 4 and it was awesome!
I cannot explain how I felt leading up to the premiere of Season 4. The promos were TO DIE FOR and I was so into it.
I was disappointed by the premiere and devastated by the both lame and weak writing of Irina's death. Everyone was telling me not to jump the gun and make any accusation sof the new season, so I waited and I waited and I waited.
I did enjoy a couple of episodes from this season thus far and I don't agree with the consensus, compared the rest, this week's episode was not that bad at all.
However, the following is the sum-up of my feelings towards ALIAS now (pre-Lena Olin signing)
ALIAS turned from a show that I would risk many things for and sacrifice certain other aspects of my life (not anything serious) for to a show that I would seriously not care if it was cancelled. Not that it's that horrible (but pretty close) but that it was so good that it doesn't deserve this degradation.
Now that ratings have hit a season and near series low.... what was the point of that face-lift? Nothing but abandonment of some true hardcore ALIAS fans.
If the quality on ALIAS has anything to do with Abrams' split priorities between LOST and ALIAS, I can't imagine what will happen to these two when he starts working on 'Catch' and M:I 3 and LOST and ALIAS at the same time!
After hearing of Lena Olin's return, I have more or less decided to continue watching the season (though I won't see the finale until 15 days after it airs).
Bottom-line: I don't think I could ever turn my back on ALIAS for the wonderful 3 years it gave me but my patience is QUICKLY running out.

I agree, I am really wathcing right now b/c of Irnia in the finale, but I coudl care less about this season. I though, consiering this is the one hour of tv I conssitenly watch each wekk will not return if it gets renewed for next year unless it gets better. This is time Icoudl spend reading/watching a movie...I jsut really hope the rest of this season somehow gets interesting, next week's episode look slike shit, so maybe the week after will hold promise.

That was the best episode of Alias this season. Sydney and Marshall are a great pair, and Marshall is just great period. They should give him more to do more often, I would definitely make an effort to watch that every week.

I agree.
Although that may have been THE most singly isolated and irrelevant episode in the mythology of ALIAS, it was nontheless the highlight of the season.
And ALTHOUGH they took two key and signature references from KILL BILL (yes, 2!! the eyeball!) I can find it in my heart to not hold it against them. I mean they must have asked Quentin if it was okay to do, him being such a big fan of the show.
It was interesting to see Sydney act out the Coffin scene seeing as how rumors (but substantial ones) circulated that if Uma wasn't available, the next best candidate would have been Jennifer Garner to play the part of the Bride.
Marshal was AMAZING. I have all season and even part of last waiting to see a part of his life outside the office and I thought many times they might bring his personal life into work... like have the baby and his wife there or something, but was always disappointed. Well, they gave us a little glimpse and it was great. I want MORE!!!!
And why was this episode such a success aside from using fool-proof KILL BILL ideas and utilizing Marshal to his most usefulness? Because it was about the mission (however irrelevant and forgettable it might get). Yes, there was drama because lives were at stake and we all knew Sydney was gonna survive, but it was the focus on getting her out and then getting the man that made it good.
Still not up to par on what I'm expecting, but amazing holdover episode. Maybe it's just me and my KILL BILL fanboyism talking, but who knows. Let's see what the ultimate ALIAS critic thought: Ripper

I stopped visiting this thread, cause while I do agree there are a few things the show needs to work on, IU cant believe the amount of WHINING going on. Come on, you guyd think KIll Bill invented the buried alive thing? It's been done milions of times. And it was done very well tonight.
I think it was very good, but I think there's been better episodes this season (Vaughn + Syd in that neighborhood was awesome). Vaughn was actually not that dead tonight.
