oh dear god gulli thank you! Their antics swaying that minor tvbythenumbers blog poll. HAHA Quote: 319 vs 281

You can keep voting. Delete cookies and then give it about 2 minutes (or at least that's what I have to do - then I get another 10 votes) Quote: HO

I go away for an hour an suddenly we have 1376 votes (Chuck, at 2nd has 701). That's 60% people.
Jesus do we have a big fanbase on the internet. I suggest someone email WB and tell them what happened here today. We've gotten over 1200 votes in less than 2 hours. Yes, a huge fan base. Definitely let Warner fuckin' Bros. know (roflcopter)! As many as twenty people voting again and again! I eagerly await the moment all their dreams are officially crushed.

 Re: Renewed/Canceled 2008-2009
My new favorite message post ever anywhere, in response to Ausiello's item that marked the show as dead and buried: Quote: Lets see what we have: "A source close to the show" and a "Network insider". So there is no official statement. As EVERY account this one has to be watched critically and needs to be interpreted. "It won't be back" isn't the only interpretation that is possible. Some examples of possible interpretations: -The sources don't even exist and the purpose of this account is only to attract intention (weak interpretation) -This information was given willingly from FOX to the columnist to test the fans of the show. Will they soon get resigned and indifferent (--> series cancelled) or will they even try harder to save the show (-->possible continuation)? This would of course only make sense if FOX hasn't made a final decision (weak interpreation) -These sources only represent a kind of "status quo" within FOX, but the final decision has yet to be made. (my favorite interpreation) -FOX has made it's final decision not to continue the series. In this case it seems very probable to me, that FOX will make an official statement in the nex few days. They would only fool the fans if they are silent till May 18 keeping a final decision secret. Ergo: I think this news is completely useless. It says the show is to be cancelled, but admits that it is unknwon if the show is really to be cancelled. Seems a bit unlogical if we reduce the statement to this level. There are so many awesome things going on in that.

 Re: Renewed/Canceled 2008-2009
Look, I loved Scrubs during its early days, and for whatever reason, I stopped watching.
... but how in the hell is this coming back AGAIN? The ratings are as mediocre as ever. I can't imagine it's still as good as those first two seasons I watched. If it's ABC's horrible comedy department, maybe ABC should just abandon its comedy lineup.
Then again, they have renewed According to Jim every year, further proving there is no God. Or he's playing a huge practical joke. Or he loves Jim Belushi. Or Jim Belushi owes him a huge favor.
I don't even know what the deal is with Privileged. I can't believe Reaper is not even in consideration for next season. Hasn't it been consistently out-rating most of the CW shows lately? Except this week.

 Re: Renewed/Canceled 2008-2009
Scrubs deal is only because of syndication as it apparently earns a lot of money for any additional season it gets. Just like According to Jim did. And it matters not how awful they do in the ratings as earnings for the studio are pretty big.
Reaper's problem is that it's doing awful in 18-34 demo, like at least two times less than everything else on CW, especially in females. And CW touts that demo as their target. It seems to skew older. Also the creators and producers of Reaper have a signed a development deal with ABC for next season. That's already a sign enough that Reaper is not even getting considered.
Privileged chances are a pipe dream. Repeats don't mean a thing. People read that one way too much. And it's only a rumor. If Privileged was at least being looked at as a possible renewal show chances are someone from inside the cast & crew would spill something out on Twitter or their blog. The only reason why CW is possibly considering repeats is because it has nothing to air in the summer. Reruns of ANTM are out so that leaves Wednesday and Friday slot empty. 90210 probably won't have two time slots, so that opens one more slot. That leaves them at least three empty slots for the summer.

Except this week. The deal with Privileged/Reaper, and the reason I hate tvbythenumbers.com and think that Bill guy who runs it is a huge twat, is that many network television decisions are based on things other than raw viewership data ( duh, Bill, you douche). In this case, it's that the CW has decided its path to survival is to focus itself entirely as a network aimed at younger women. Branding, baby. Regardless of ratings, Reaper does not fit with the current network identity. TV is not a sporting event, and ratings are not a final score that determines a winner.

NBC loves to take a show with marginally good ratings and fuck it over.

I wonder why NBC is doing it early. Maybe they don't want "Chuck" fans to kill themselves while waiting for the verdict.

 Re: Renewed/Canceled 2008-2009
Last year NBC held their upfront in April (BTW The Philantrophist and Merlin are still MIA on NBC's schedule - Merlin already got a second season order from BBC), so it's not unusual for NBC to do the upfront fairly early.
But if they're not going to announce the returning/new shows - what are they going to present to advertisers etc??? Although Ausiello is a fairly reliable source, I'm thinking we'll see NBC's schedule.

 Re: Renewed/Canceled 2008-2009
So DHD/Nikki is reporting the following: Quote: UPDATE: NBC Renews 'Chuck', 'Medium', 'Law & Order'; Announcement On Monday That's what sources are telling me. Expect a major renewals announcement from NBC on Monday. http://www.deadlinehollywooddaily.com/n ... law-order/Also with Southland pick up she reported that Parks & Recreation got a pick-up too. Quote: NBC Picks Up 'Southland' And 'Parks And Recreation' Despite Poor Ratings http://www.deadlinehollywooddaily.com/n ... -episodes/___________________________ THR also updated their Southland article. And there's a whole bunch of news about various shows. Quote: ...the Amy Poehler comedy "Parks and Recreation," but the renewal of that series also is expected to be announced Monday.
Still waiting to hear their fate are bubble series "Chuck," "Law & Order," "Medium" and "Earl" as well as the network's crop of pilots. NBC and "Earl" producer 20th TV are in negotiations for a full-season pickup.
Most of the other five series are also expected to get renewals, some of them, like "Medium" and veteran "Law & Order," probably not for a full season.
However, NBC is not expected to make a final decision on the fate of all of them by Monday, with fan favorite "Chuck" among those who will remain in contention beyond the infront.
On the pilot front, comedies "Community" and "100 Questions for Charlotte Payne" and dramas "Trauma" and "Parenthood" are expected to land series orders, with comedy "Off Duty" also looking promising.
Meanwhile, NBC may postpone final decision on David E. Kelley's "Legally Mad" and the Dick Wolf-produced "Lost & Found" until after its Monday infront. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/con ... 8d1585b70a___________________________ To sum it all up NBC's renewals are the following (green are already picked up, blue are the unofficial renewals from various sources): 30 Rock Friday Night Lights Heroes Law & Order: SVU The Office SouthlandChuck Law & Order Medium My Name Is Earl Parks and Recreation(Realities The Biggest Loser and The Apprentice are probably gonna get renewed too) It seems like a whole bunch of shows considering they're losing five one-hour slots next year. The casualties would be the following shows: Crusoe Kath & Kim Kings Knight Rider Life Lipstick Jungle My Own Worst Enemy

THR reports that Cleveland, the yet unaired spin-off of Family Guy, is already picked up for a second season of 13 episodes (FOX already ordered a full 22-episode first season). http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/con ... 874a16449eCleveland is set to premiere in fall of 2009.

 Re: Renewed/Canceled 2008-2009
NBC announces pick-ups, new series: http://thefutoncritic.com/news.aspx?id=20090504nbc01Quote: ...six new series featuring four new dramas including "Trauma", "Parenthood", "Mercy" and the event series "Day One", as well as two new comedies including "Community" and "100 Questions".
Four returning series pickups were also announced today including "Heroes", "Southland", "Parks and Recreation" and the addition of six new episodes of "Saturday Night Live Weekend Update Thursday".
Previously announced series pickups include "The Office", "30 Rock", "The Biggest Loser", "The Celebrity Apprentice", "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit", "Friday Night Lights", and new alternative series "The Marriage Ref", "Breakthrough With Tony Robbins" and "Who Do You Think You Are?".
Additional series pickups will be announced May 19, when NBC announces its 2009-2010 schedule. So Chuck, Law & Order, Medium, My Name Is Earl are indeed standing with undecided faiths. Previews for new shows are available on: http://www.nbc.com/upcoming-shows/

 Re: Renewed/Canceled 2008-2009
Parenthood sounds good. Too bad it's a drama on NBC, which probably means no one will watch it and it'll get axed in seconds.
Also, Community has Joel McHale in it! Awesome.

I'm watching previews. Trauma looks awful. It looks like a lovechild between the new Knight Rider and ER's bastard child.

Law and Order will probably get renewed as a midseason show like they have the last two years . I don't see them canceling that when they are like 20 episodes away from passing Gunsmoke. It says that here http://www.variety.com/article/VR111800 ... 1&nid=2854
