Re: The "Lost" Thread: Season 5
Dr. Lecter wrote: Daniel Dae Kim talks the bomb and the smoke monster: Actor Daniel Dae Kim, who plays Jin in ABC's "Lost," has said that the origin and nature of the Smoke Monster will be disclosed soon and viewers will even get a glimpse of its lair. Turns out the monster is as "old as the island."
Kim also cautioned against expectations that his character, Jin, will reunite with his wife, Sun (Yunjin Kim), even though Jin survived a freighter explosion and Sun returns to the island after escaping it.
Those events don't mean "they're particularly in the same place or chronologically in the same time," Kim said.
As for the atomic bomb that showed up in the "Jughead" episode, he said the show's producers rarely give something such prominence unless it counts in the island's mythology.
"That's a huge red herring if it's a red herring," Kim said, suggesting the bomb could help resolve plot points as the series ends in 2010.http://www.comingsoon.net/news/tvnews.php?id=52800Yeah I think someone will use it to blow up the island in the last episode. I think the island itself is evil.

This episode's pretty fun so far, except for the Oceanic 6 bits.

It looks like they try to go back to the island. It was great episode except for poor Charlotte. I had a feeling she was going to die.

Re: The "Lost" Thread: Season 5
Well, at least we found out how Montand lost his frickin' arm.
It's kinda hard to get into Locke's mission, since we know he's gonna fail (as most of the Oceanic Six still don't want to go back, even after his sacrifice). And what the hell does Christian have to do with any of this?
Definitely a transition episode, but a good one. I just wish we had spent more time with the Frenchies.

Re: The "Lost" Thread: Season 5
I don't understand Christian Shephard's relation to the island? Like, how is he/Jacob associated with the island. They better have an awesome way to explain it because it seems Jack and Claire are all part of the island mythology.
Great episode. This season has been fantastic so far.
So do the flashes stop now? How does Faraday time travel back to Dharma times then (first scene of the season)??
As for Charlotte/Faraday... I think it's pretty obvious that Faraday time travels back to dharma days, finds young Charlotte and tells her not to come back to the island or she will die. I don't think Faraday was among the dharma people.
Sun leaving her child for Jin is just stupid and, to me, not that realistic.
How did Juliet get to the island? I know it was the submarine but did she go through what the Oceanix 6 are about to go through to get there?
And one random question to those who remember: What happened to the girl that Ben liked when he was a little boy during dharma days? Was she killed when he poisoned everyone? For some reason, I have absolutely no recollection of how that relationship ended.

They need to come up with a satisfactory explanation which I think is going to be hard to do. Yes, I was thinking about this last episode, too. They took them to experiment on them, I'm assuming, but what actually happened? Did they all die? I dont get it. Wasn't there a scene in the earlier seasons with two characters hiding in the forest and the Others walk past them, and there are the legs of kids dragging a teddy bear, or am I making that up? Idk, but I do hope they answer that, although I feel like it might be one of those mysteries that goes unanswered. Walt was special. Which is why he was being experimented on. We can't assume the other children were experimented on. We can assume the other kids were not special and were taken with The Others. Wherever they are. Otherwise the kids are like 15 IRL now and if they stayed on the island they would have to explain the aging. When we get an answer to what/where The Others are, then by default it will apply to the people abducted from the survivors. It's not really an "open mystery" as much as it's just not important, so don't hang your hat on it. The kids are with the Others, see: Season 3: Stranger In a Strange Land.

The island was stationary for the time prior to There's No Place Like Home Pt. 3 (at least we think). We know there is an electromagnetic disturbance around the island that can cause time problems but one CAN travel through it given the right headings. Undoubtably the submarine followed this same path, obviously The Others and Dharma figured out an easier way to get through it than Whidmore. There is a wacky theory I've read that Annie = Diane Janssen, a/k/a Kate's mom, because Kate's middle name is indeed "Anne".

Re: The "Lost" Thread: Season 5
In addition, I like the thread that Locke is getting into trouble with the Island because he's really doing nothing by himself. Sawyer killed his dad, Ben moved the island, etc. Poor Locke, what a loser.
Upcoming episode titles:
5.06: 316 5.07: The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham 5.08: LaFleur 5.09: Namaste 5.10: He's Our You 5.11: 5.12: Dead is Dead 5.13: 5.14:
Oh and yes... teenager Ben is returning this season.

Re: The "Lost" Thread: Season 5
I figured teen Ben would return as soon as i saw Namaste, which was a word on a big sign in the Dharma village in his last flashback.
Life and Death/Bentham will no doubt be Locke oriented, how and why he died and whether he'll be un-died.
He's Our You is very intriguing. It would be cool if it was a Jack/Sawyer leadership battle but who knows. I do wonder what is going to happen if/when Jack gets back to the island. Do you guys think they'll mostly fall in line and follow him again or have things changed too much?

Re: The "Lost" Thread: Season 5
OK, finally finished the episode after watching it on and off all day.
Lost continues to surprise, enthrall, and baffle every single week. No other show on TV provokes this kind of reaction.
The chase sequence with Danielle and her crew and our old favorite Smokey Monster was pretty intense. I sort of miss the first season when we were all trying to figure out what the hell the monster was and why it was chewing people up. I loved that they included that guy getting his arm torn off. Now we know why he only had one arm in the future, heh.
Poor Charlotte's apparent demise was so sad. Her and Farraday were super cute together.
I really didn't need to see the bloody broken bone protruding from Locke's leg (ew!) but I guess him turning the wheel gets him off the island as well. Although I was confused what Jack's dad has to do with any of this, but then again, I'm usually confused when Jack's dad appears.
I think everyone and their mother (heh) knew that Eloise Hawking would turn out to be Farrady's mom, but still. I'm excited by the prospect of her "getting them started."
I looooooove this show so much, gosh.

Re: The "Lost" Thread: Season 5
I finally had some time to watch last weeks Lost on my DVR and boy was it worth it. We finally got to see The Temple!! Now we know why Ben said the Temple is the last safe place on the island, because the damn smoke monster is there to protect it as the Frenchie said.
I'm really looking forward to see what Faradays's mom knows and how they will get back.

It was a very solid episode...a bit of a mindfuck again. I am really enjoying the season so far. It kinda feels very different from the rest.

I think Ben took Aaron or had his lawyer do it. I just hope Ben isn't going after Penny.

Re: The "Lost" Thread: Season 5
THEY'RE BAAAAAAACK
As usual, I am left with approximately ten million questions:
A) Where did Sun, Ben and Sayid land? B) What happened to the plane/the people on the plane? C) Did Ben try to kill Penny or something (nooo) and that's why he was all messed? Did Desmond beat the crap out of him? D) What happened to Aaron that made Kate turn into a zombie? E) What time period are they in? Why is Jin working for Dharma? Did Dharma Jin recognize them? Ahhh
"We're not going to Guam, are we?" Poor Lapidus.
