Heroes Reborn is cancelled

Well, it is not technically cancelled since it was only conceived as a miniseries, right?

Per Fox at TCA:

Empire renewed for season 3.

Scream Queens renewed for season 2.

LOL what? Scream Queens will probably be the lowest rated show on FOX next year.

Yay!

Apparently 24 and Prison Break are coming back too.

With the caveat that 24 will be a Kiefer-less reboot with new characters.

But it takes place in the same universe, so in theory CTU characters from the past could show up. #SoulPatchTony

For sure they didn't include that deleted scene on the Bluray of Live Another Day without the possibility of a return for next season.

Not sure why Prison Break is coming back.

The greatest lie networks have created in the last five years is the "event series". If it's huge, hey, let's make this event a little more EVENT-ful! If it bombs, hey, it was an event series and once ratings suck, it would EVENT-ually be cancelled.

Just read up on 24 and Prison Break.

Prison Break will feature Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller (should be tricky, given how the show ended), and presumably every other character worth reviving, since many of them need some work. I don't think Prison Break needed to be revived, but I'll watch. It ended on a fairly strong note, considering they dragged a very silly premise out for four seasons.

24: Legacy sounds like shit. Sounds like they're trying to make it with entirely new characters. No mention of veterans. Which can work, but I just don't know. Also, the main character is called Eric Carter. I expect Eric Carter to be played by Jean Claude Van Damme in a DTV action flick.

They should have called the lead Mack Sauer.

I think if they can't get Kiefer back they should just let 24 end. I don't see too many people watching without him. I am a big 24 fan, but I probably won't watch it unless the previews look amazing.

They're going to cast a lifeless, emotionless actor in the lead role which will completely ruin the entire thing. I'm not going to say Kiefer is irreplaceable because much of the show's success lies in the unique storytelling techniques and the superb writing (Season 6 aside). But... it's going to be really, really hard to replace him. And saying it'll be a man AND a woman taking the lead means they need two people to serve as one Jack Bauer.

In a huge twist, Netflix renewed Jessica Jones for a second season.

HBO's Westworld - production has halted for 2 months to allow Jonah Nolan to complete the scripts for the final 4 episodes. 2016 debut still targeted.

Highly anticipating this but it does seem to have had a troubled development. I doubt they'll make the 2016 target.

Sweet Jesus, it feels like they have been working on Westworld forever now.

I think the format of 24 can survive without Kiefer. Sure, Jack Bauer is one of the best characters on TV ever, but I always loved the format equally as much as Kiefer in the lead. I think they can pull of Kiefer-less 24.

Julianna Margulies said she's unemployed as of April.

Hopefully they wrote an amazing finale. This season has been one of the best IMHO.

Netflix renewed House of Cards for a fifth season in advance of the fourth's premiere.

Finding Carter has been cancelled after 2 seasons.

Season 1 was actually pretty solid but I thought what I saw of season 2 was awful and bailed. Kathryn Prescott is great though. I have no doubt she'll be scooped up by another series or project soon.

WGN America has canceled the well-reviewed period drama Manhattan after two seasons.

No one will know because no one was watching.
