I don't know either. It just sounded like you didn't care for it for a little of the thread and then I lumped in some other people's comments with yours because I wasn't paying attention. Yay for reading.
I still disagree with the "universally funny" business, though.

 Re: The Office S5, 30 Rock S3
If anything, I think 30 Rock is inconsequential. Yes it's brilliant and deserving of all its praise. But its also very breezy and kinda lazy.
I think The Office works much harder at what it does, whilst 30 Rock rests on its laurels.

30 Rock was once again pretty good, I loooved Tina's pep talk to herself. The supporting cast's storylines weren't so hot though; I'm really hoping they drop the Janis Joplin thing.

Saw Dwight on Leno's Tonight Show tonight.
Watched half of it but it was so bad, just a crash and burn that went nowhere.

It was one of those family guy-esque flashes. She had just walked in on Jack doing his, and was like "Ah I do that too when I'm going to parties where I don't know anyone."

 Re: The Office S5, 30 Rock S3
I recently finished watching the second season of 30 Rock. It was good, but by the end of the season the show jumped the shark. Which is weird, because one of the main points of the show is that it (almost always) tastefully jumps the shark and makes a really good fun out of it. But the whole storyline at the end was horrible and one of the worst ever I have seen.
The start of the third season was more of the same crap. There were (as always) some brilliant scenes, but overall the plots were just too too much.
By now it has stabilized and it's again balancing that fine line between believable and jumping the shark. Reunion is IMO the definitive highlight of the season so far. But the best and funniest scene (or the culmination of a plot) is the veggie witch. LAUGH-OUT-LOUD. Without stopping.
But they should definitely cut some characters off. Tracy should be the first one to go. I really can't get into the character since the first season. Jenna is completely underused. Some of the writers are bland as hell, etc. They waste too much time on Liz and Jack. I find most of the rest of the cast potentially much funnier.

When are Jack and Liz going to hook up?
(I'm almost done with S2...they need to!)

Don't expect that anytime soon. I don't think they will ever do that. And they shouldn't.

Greatest opening ever. "STAY FUCKING CALM!!" I'm glad they also changed the opening credits for this episode giving all the actors credit. Hopefully the show gains a little more (permanent) audience off of the Super Bowl.

That was the best cold open in the show's history.

Surprisingly the pirated movie subplot is a misfire.

I'm surprised because the writers are a smart bunch and I think they could have come up with something funnier.

Anyway, I thought it slowed down some after the first 15 minutes or so? Though now that it's not in the spotlight hopefully it'll go back to normal.
