Or did the Family Edition put an end to any sort of gimmick edition for the show? I would love to see an All-Star edition. I thought you were better than that! Although, it would be great to see Rob and Amber beat the supposed "best". Ramber, Team Guido, Jonathan/Victoria, Chip/Kim, Reichen/Chip, Tara/Wil What about Meredith and Gretchen? "Meredith, we have a baaaad elephant!"
one of the top TAR moments ever.

Also, The Bowling Moms. And the Cha-Cha-Cha's.
And the creepy Gaghan Kids. Just have them race by themselves without the parents.

Loyal, did you just suggest Jonathan & Victoria for All-Stars? I never, never, never, EVER, EVER, EVER want to see those people again. If anyone from that season was deserving of All-Stars, it was the eternally awesome Kris & Jon.
Goddamn hippies.
I really hope Season 10 is good, because this was my least favorite season other than Family Edition.

Yeah, blah as hell finale, and the worst non-family edition of the 8 easily. They just got a lot more sloppy in this one, it wasn't as tightly wound as the others.
Plus... the top 3 was terribly uninteresting. I think they tried to paint BJ and Tyler as "fan-favorites", like Rupert from Survivor, but failed miserably. I can't believe how damn lucky they got too, 3 times they should've been eliminated. Lake/Michelle retarding themselves out, and the 2 non-eliminations. Argh.
I would love All-Stars as well. "Must haves" that I think they would go after would be Romber, Kris and Jon, Charla and Mirna, Oswald and Danni, Colin and Christie, Team Guido, Chip and Kim, Will and Teri. Also Flo and Zach if they could, though I believe it would be hard as hell to convince them after all these years and the fact that they probably haven't spoken to each other since the show. As for the token old couple, probably Meredith and Gretchen would fit the bill. Sadly, BJ and Tyler would probably be in there as well, with likely another goofy two like the clowns from Season 4 or Adam and Rebecca.

Meh, stupid hippies. I actually thought it was a good finale overall, just disappointed with the outcome.
I'd really appreciate it if the editors didn't telegraph who was going to win every season, this is the 3 seasons in a row where the eventual winner has been fairly obvious in the last few episodes. I figured the hippies had it in the bag this year when they were given an extremely positive edit during the MoJo feud, while MoJo were made out to be the villains. RaYo were too much of a nonentity, and the Frats had too much of a negative slant to win. The hippies were edited as the "YOU MUST LOVE THEM!! OR ELSE!!!" team so I figured they must have won.
Same thing happened last season with the Linz family who were the foil to the evil incarnate Weavers, and the year before where Uchenna/Joyce were the lovable underdogs versus the backstabbing manipluating Romber. Granted these two seasons also had betting spoilers, but still pretty obvious. I also lost interest in TAR5 towards the end because it became painfully clear that Chip/Kim were going to win, versus the token evil team of Colin/Christie. The 6th season is an anomaly with the Freddy/Kendra win. The first four seasons I don't think the editing was so ridiculously transparent.
Still the greatest reality show there is, but really can't they make it a little less obvious??
Oh and damn did Ray/Yolanda suck ass the final two legs, they managed to catch up to the pack what three times, yet each time they sunk sometimes hours behind the frats and the hippies.
and for some reason an All-Star edition of TAR does not really interest me. It'd be really hard to cast too, since so many male-male and couple teams have done very well, compared to the female-female teams. I think it could work if they cast more teams than usual, maybe 15 and eliminated all the non-elim, double trouble legs. But eh, I'd rather see new faces.

Yeah, the recap at the beginning of the episode was what really made the Hippies win obvious to me. The entire thing was about them, all of it.
"BJ and Tyler, despite arriving last at the detour, kept a positive attitude. And when it seemed they were out of it, they didn't let it get to them.*cuts to Tyler in the car talking about how they're finished*. But then, Lake and Michelle finished last!... On the next leg...

I haven't watched the finale yet and don't know who won, so I'm shielding my eyes from the stuff above, but here's a good NYT article on the future of the show and basically the toll the family edition and the scheduling has taken on it:

I liked the roller coasters, though.

The stunts and locations in the finale were good. I loved seeing Japan, the amusement park roadblock and the scenes in Alaska.
The problem for me was that two of the teams were unlikeable and the other team (Ray and Yolanda) were never a factor at any time during the final legs.
