Re: US Federal Govt Spying on Everyone...Huge Scandal
Is anyone surprised anymore these days. I think it's just become the rule, and it is simply just time to deal with it and move on. Under Bush it was a new concept, and now that a Democrat is in office, conservatives and Republicans are just now starting to realize it, thus trying to make it out like it is some sort of new concept hatched by mastermind/incompetent Obama. In reality us liberals aren't new to the concept.

As outrageous as it is, I think in the case of this revelation, for most people it was just a confirmation of what they had thought anyway. Not surprising.

True I suspected it as well but the mainstream labelled such people as conspiracy theories and they are true.
I think I am not that much against it but against the whole Hypocrisy and false hope Obama gave.
Different my ass.

I mean, I voted third party because I went into Obama's administration knowing full well he was a moderate Republican with an authoritarian overreach. As such, the way in which he has led the country has been a bit surprising in a positive sense for me outside of his inability to get the two different sides of the aisle to work together. His foreign policy has led foreign nations to once again be willing to cooperate, and has led to the capture of numerous foreign enemies of state.
He is no Jimmy Carter, despite advertising himself to blind liberals as such, but honestly. that's a good thing He was a great man but not a great president.

They want govt to do everything for them but then want a lot of freedom and privacy from the govt.
Wanting freedom and privacy isn't the issue. We are entitled to freedom and privacy, not the other way around. I don't mind sharing my information with private companies. They are separate for the most part and actually have to follow rules and laws whereas when the govt is pulling in all this information from any company and by it's own power then that's extremely dangerous. Maybe not today just because of how things are but it can be in the future and that's the problem. But most of us throw up our hands in the air because we have media who accept being deliberately spied upon and if they aren't going to keep govt in check then who else can?

...and here's another video featuring Obama (the candidate) debating Obama (the president) via BoingBoing...
...plus a salient observation from the comments section...

What "dangerous secrets" did he learn? That some terrorist tried to blow up a plane or use a car bomb? Oh no! Dozens of Americans might have died. If the framers had known that dozens of Americans might die, surely they would not have stuck the fourth amendment in there. Holy fucking shit. The US faced an existential threat in the USSR, an empire that influenced over half the world, had billions of people, equivalent technology, and weapons to literally kill us all, and we managed to (for the most part) keep our shit together. Now we face a few thousand religious nuts and we full on surrender? Are we cowards, or just fucking stupid?
If we want to act like a bunch of fucking cowards in the face of a non-threat, we should at least openly declare our cowardice and repeal the fourth amendment. Better to be a coward than a hypocrite and a coward.
