Besides, it seems the Democratic Party is ascendant so I doubt whatever I do matters much anyway. What is your most extreme view?

I am happy but ask yourselves...
Will much change? I suggest tonning down expectations...
I think Obama has a peroid of Goodwill for now and he better use it because by 2014, everyone will be looking at 2016...
History is not on Obama's side though... President that win a close reelection usually have a terribile 2nd term...

Do what you need to do to make sure we don't go off the fiscal cliff, thus allowing #2. 2. Allow the groundwork you laid the last 4 years to continue building. (Romney would have stopped this by changing or deleting many things Obama put in place) 3. Continue to work with other countries, instead of dictating to them (which is largely what GW did, and probably what Romney would do). Are those expectations low enough?

Re: 2012 ELECTION DISCUSSION -- OBAMA WINS RE-ELECTION
Other points... 1. As I said before the election, we didn't need to talk about the 'big' swing states if Obama carried four of the smaller swing states (Colorado, New Hampshire, Iowa, and Nevada). He won big in these states -- and I believe this redefines the Democrats' core. If the Republicans adjust, who knows, but this current party is going to have difficulty winning any election if the Democrats can count on 263 EVs off the bat. 2. Country as a whole definitely went 'right'...interesting graphic on NYT's homepage and here: http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2012 ... pport.html3. Florida has yet to be called with ~97% reporting. Obama has a 45k vote lead. And, Obama's lead in Virginia increases to a 3% vote margin. If Bill Clinton were the candidate, the spread would have been larger. So this also bodes well for the Dems -- and unlike the smaller swing states, I think the 'left-leaning' shift in Florida/ Virginia is more permanent.

I'm inclined to agree. Northern VA's demographics are really accelerating at a rapid pace to the extent I have a hard time seeing my state go red for a while.

Thank you Minnesota for being the first state to turn down a marriage ban! 31 states before it, all passed. Feels great to be in the first state to reject it.

Re: 2012 ELECTION DISCUSSION -- OBAMA WINS RE-ELECTION
The popular vote difference is now about 2.67 million, with mostly remaining precincts yet to be counted in the blue states (WA, OR, CA, and NY), so the difference will probably grow to like 51/47 Obama in the end, not really all that close in that front either.

Those are very reasonable expectations...
Obama best legacy is to contain the Fiscal problems...

Re: 2012 ELECTION DISCUSSION -- OBAMA WINS RE-ELECTION
As someone mentioned in another forum, it'll be ironic if Romney ends up getting 47% of the votes.

Re: 2012 ELECTION DISCUSSION -- OBAMA WINS RE-ELECTION
GOP should let PR into the Union...
Would repair a lot of damage with Hispanics....
Also, so PR can become a state simply by passing it through the House and Senate?

Find it hilarious that two States legalized Pot.
Its a big deal in Canada because the Govt is afraid to legalize fearing American reaction.

I've rewatched the Karl Rove spiral of shame on Fox News like 2 or 3 times. I actually have newfound respect for the anchors there (Megyn whatshername and the other guy) who shut him down.

Outside of Hannitty, they are smart and pretty fair They are not as moderate as CNN, but worlds better than MSNBC. Rove was not even arguing that Romney would win. He was just saying it was too close & there were too many votes out to call it. Same reason they had yet to call Virginia and Florida. It was not that unfair. But Megyn Kelly shitting on him was funny. "Well, nobody cares about Karl in Chicago"
