Re: Debate schedule
Obama will win but I think its going to be close now. Frankly he speaks well but needs a teleprompter.. He lacks the folksy Charm of Reagan and the quick wit of Clinton. Obama should avoid debating Economics with Romney, he was terribile!!! It reminded me off my Liberal Arts classes when there was a debate between a business Student and a Politics Student over economics. It was painfull!!! Also Biden is going to get owned by Paul, it will be actually quite hilarious. Paul will make crazy statements and Biden will say something stupid. Biden is a very nice person but he is not the brightest person...

That's what was said about Romney. Biden will be the aggressor.

Re: Debate schedule
After watching the debate last night, I'm watching the first debate between Gore and G.W. Bush. Sighing aside, and I can hardly blame him for the sighing, I really wish the end result of that election had been different. It makes me sad. Gore would have been a very good president. So much would be different now. If 9/11 had still occurred, things would have gone down differently in it's wake. And I'm pretty sure our president right now would not be Obama, but Hilary. Obviously no one can say for sure, but it's interesting, and depressing, to think about.
At about 40 minutes into the debate, W. said he thinks our military is overextended. That made me choke.

I can see the President having some aces up his sleeve regarding foreign policy (Bin Laden and leaving Iraq (which I think the public views favorably)) but Iran? What would he want to say about Iran? I figured that would be one of the things he does not want to talk about. I also doubt he wants to talk about Libya.

Or Israel... Look like this was a historic debate. Biggest Ratings since 1992 Presidential Debates. http://ca.news.yahoo.com/nielsen-says-6 ... 47219.htmlI believe in terms of Ratings the biggest debates were the Nixon vs JFK and Reagan vs Carter Debates.

Mannyisthebest wrote: Obama was never that good at debates... Romney won easily... http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/20 ... ?hpt=hp_t2Anyways Romney won but Obama will win in the end. However this clearly shows how weak Obama is sometimes. Its like I imagine he just sits in the white house and lets Congress slap him around and it appears that is what he does.... Many presidents have been poor debaters. Jefferson was one of the worst and was a horrible speaker. He probably wouldn't be president today. I think Obama will win the Foreign Policy Debate and then you have the town hall debate which Obama is much stronger in those type of debates.

Re: Debate schedule
Your point is valid but remember debates are all about style... Carter had valid points against Reagan on Medicare and Reagan says "There you Go Again" and the rest is history.
Obama with out a teleprompter is never anything special... He lacks any real charm without it and appears a bit emotionally distant with him going um and ahhh.
When people call him the great Orator of our times, I just roll my eyes.
Many Presidents have come and spoken like Obama... Reagan and Clinton speeches are just as good and better imo.

Re: Debate schedule
A man who speaks about moving mountains but a hard time moving a molehill, cannot be seen as a great orator anymore. Reason being you lack the trust in his words. I used to listen to all of his speeches and used to get all Giddy like you all did back in 2008. Now I can't listen to his speeches. Its the same old half truths and lies that all politicians tell. Also stop using the "he faces a Republican Congress" Clinton had to deal with a nut Case like Newt Gingrich.

Re: Debate schedule
Yeah the Congress will Remain GOP...
So I think Obama has 2 years after he wins to do anything...
If he wins by a big margin then he has a lot of power...
If its a small margin then well I think he has 1-2 years and then becomes a lame duck President.

Re: Debate schedule
It all depends how the votes go down....
Obama could win a healthy margin in the popular vote but still end up close on the electoral college.

Obama could win a healthy margin in the popular vote but still end up close on the electoral college. I think the opposite. It's more likely Obama will win the electoral college and lose the popular vote. Look at the maps. In order to win, Romney has to win every "leans Romney" state plus the three swing states that are too close to call but have had consistent Obama leads (Florida, Virginia, and Colorado) PLUS Ohio, where Obama has held a lead the entire election cycle. http://elections.huffingtonpost.com/201 ... 51845510-0

Re: Debate schedule
I was thinking that this election likley is going to be more like 2004 then 1996 or 1984...
However you are right Florida can switch and now looks like it will but no way is Ohio, Colorado or Nevada going for Romney.

Re: Debate schedule
Well, I'll never say "no way." Romney can still win, but it will take a huge change in the electorate and will be the biggest comeback in the last month ever...

Re: Debate schedule
In popular vote, yes. But Obama should easily hit 300+ in the EC.

Re: Debate schedule
Personally I think around 290-300 for Obama and and 235-245 for Romney

Re: Debate schedule
I predict 297 - 241, with Obama taking the swing states of Virginia, Colorado, Ohio, and Nevada and losing Florida, Iowa, and North Carolina.

Re: Debate schedule
The Debate had an effect... If anyone says again that Debates have no effect, they do!! Look at the past elections and the moments we all remember are.... The Debates... Polls of Polls show a dead heat... http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/20 ... ?hpt=hp_t1If things go at this rate till November, this is going to fun to watch. I will say one thing about the debate, it really brought a lot more excitement to this race. I have question about Turnout in this election... Will it be way down from 2008, or be a bit down?
