That is what has happened all across the world. Well if they had the balls to cut medicare and Social Security, it wouldn't be an issue. Those two ares along with defense make up most of the budget. They need to reform those two agencies badly.

Re: What would you cut?
Isn't there a statistic out there about how we (in the United States) pay more for healthcare related agencies with the least amount in return?

Re: What would you cut?
To be fair the Canadian system is not perfect either.
Full Public healthcare or fully private healthcare are not the only choices.

The big problem is the retirement age, and it needs to be changed. Both agencies need major reform, but nobody has the courage to do it both are afraid of the old people voting them out.

The public hospitals and clinics in California are always running at a deficit in the hundreds of millions. *I think* it is because the State public system includes 24/7 trauma centers and public hospitals manned by personnel on payroll whether they see anyone or not. I wonder what the situation is at the federal level? I would guess the feds have payroll constants in the overhead.

Re: What would you cut?
So USPS is about 5 Billion in the hole I think. How about we not build about 10-20 of those F whatever fighters and solve that issue for the time being.
I love how they can "compromise" on a Defense bill of 600+ Billion but can't do the same on other things that are dragging the country down.

It is suppose to be self sufficient. Email has killed the post office. Most people write to people and pay their bills online. I am not sure if there is an easy solution to the problem.
