OMFG. NO NO NO NO NO. THERE IS NO WAY.

Only the Fox people would be stupid enough to even bring that up.

There's no way America would vote for a ticket with a Bush on it. Right? :noway:

Why can't I get excited over Obama? I want to like him. He's speech was all rhetoric. Inspirational, yes. Is it a trust issue? Am I really a cynic?

I'll support Hillary for as long as I can. But it looks like I may have to figure out some sort of cheer to pump me up for Obama come November.

Plus she's up in Texas and Ohio as of now and could win in the states to come this next week. It's not over by any means.

well, she got the some of the big states. But like loyal said, the big story will be the number of states Obama took. I can't deny his momentum no matter how much I want to. So I do feel a bit defeated tonight. The Beltway primaries next week will likely go Obama's way. And Hillary's speech tonight was good, but not powerful enough. She shouldn't have read a speech. She should have spoken more from the heart. I usually don't mind this, but obviously the media and most people will pick at her now for that.

Just sad I guess that many can't seem to find the same admiration for this lady as they have for Obama. She may not be charismatic as he is, but she's proven herself. Yeah, she's got scandals over her as well, but we don't know much about Obama.

I'm just rambling. it wasn't a horrible night. but not enough to stop Obama's momentum I feel. :tears:

Tonight hurt Obama more than Clinton, especially once Clinton gets all those California delegates. Winning states is great, but delegates are the real break and butter, and Clinton cleaned up.

Don't fret, tomorrow, once all delegates are reported, the night will be a clear win for Clinton. Far from over.

With 60% reporting, Alaska looks good for Obama. Not much in terms of delegates, but good for another state in his ring.

Im with Eagle. Yeah winning states is good and all media wise, but its the delegates that matter. Even then, Hillary managed the larger states which should carry more weight than the smaller ones.

Can someone remind me what the states are worth again in terms of delegates (for the Democratic side)? I remember someone posting a list or link or something. I know California is big, but has Clinton won anything else considered big? And what big states did Obama win?

Thanks. :)

Peace,
Mike

The CNN guy writing on the board just did some delegate math:

His estimations for the night are 837 Clinton, 841 Obama.

They could almost literally tie.

From my count, Obama and Clinton have both won 4 blue states each today, and the rest are red states. I don't think there's much difference on that count.

The day is a draw for both, with Obama accomplished what he needed. I believed if he comes out of today within 100 delegates of Clinton, he has the upper hand for the nomination because most of the upcoming states favor him (Washington State, Maryland, Virginia, etc.), and looks like he is going to do better than that. If he actually comes out of it ahead in delegates, I will give him 70% chance of winning.

Either way, barring any big gaffes on the campaign trail, this is heading to Pennsylvania in April.

Unless Arkansas swings democratic for Clinton. That is of course only if Huckabee is not the VP nominee.

NY 281 delegates > Clinton > (57% / 40%)
Cali 441 delegates > Clinton > (54% / 33%)
NJ 127 delegates > Clinton > (54% / 44%)

If you total the states Hillary won tonight ... over 1000 delegates. If you total the states Obama won ... just over 600 delegates. And that includes Missouri, which is a likely 50/50 split of 88 delegates.

Hillary dealt Obama a blow tonight, the news channels will just dull it down as long as possible.

Thanks Madgez!

Despite the fact that Obama really cleaned up tonight in terms of states, it looks like Hillary isn't as worse off as I thought. California, New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts are four very big, nice states to have won. Guess I don't have to give up on her yet.

Peace,
Mike

Hmmm?

Oh, and Sammy, one reason I am looking to see how Hillary does in NM is because grabbing Cali, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas would mean she might be more popular in the most 'swing' region in the country...the southwest. These states have become increasingly important as recruitable areas of the country in the general election. If Hillary is as popular there as she looks and takes a governor from the south-west it could really be as important to winning the election as trying to recruit the deep south. Edwards was taken on as VP in that capacity and it didn't work. Gore didn't even win TN. I actually find the southwest to be much more interesting, and she's doing quite well there.

As for Obama, if he ends up doing well in Ohio, he has a really chance at winning over that state in the general election. And that was the one state the dems really needed last time around to tilt the votes.

They both have opportunities, and this race is going to run until Texas and Ohio are called I think. If they split (Obama in Ohio, Hillary in Texas...which is how I personally think it'll go) than the race could literally go all the way to the convention. Yikes!
